Description

 

Are you seeking an all new modded experience which approaches minecraft from a completely different angle? Do You want to expirience new innovative game mechanics in a beautiful package? Then you have found the right modpack! OPCraft changes vanilla minecraft in almost every aspect, rekindling the first moments of getting on the craft everyone of us once had.

The objective: Making the game more challanging and interesting! Examples include a completely revamped combat system (reintroduced sword blocking, reworked many mobs in their AI and gear), a redesign of the enchantment system, massive cavesystems in hardcore darkness with treasures and mysteries, moving light sources which emit light while holding or laying on the ground, a new approach to crafting items and unlocking recipes in an R&D like fashion and many more additions such as magic wands which can cast powerful spells! Also, upon entering a new world you will be greeted by Questy!: An enchanted, living book which will serve as your guide on your journey, teach you about the new additions and mechanics in bite sized bits, and provide funny commentary and mental support! OPCraft also contains no tech-mods, or rather: OPCraft was carefully handcrafted to not use any technology what so ever, to further strengthen the emphasis on exploration and discovery!

Features

 

  • A revamped early game expirience: Don't punch trees, because you can't!
  • Embrace the darkness: You can't see anything in caves or during the night!
  • Giant cave-systems: Exolore the underground and find lost treasures and mysteries!
  • Movable lightsources: Torches emit light when held or laying on the ground!
  • Itemphysics: Items can be thrown very far (Press and hold [Q])!
  • Quality of life: Mined items will find themselves instantly in your inventory!
  • Enter Questy! An enchanted living book which will teach you the game in bite sized bits! New quests appear automatically once you finish your current visible quests! But quests can also be skipped by experienced players!

World Domination with Questy!

  • Reworked healthcare: Natural regeneration will only heal 3 heart / 6 HP! Standard Health is now 5 hearts / 10 HP! Sleeping will heal all your health!
  • Nutrition: Eat balanced diet to gain more HP!
  • 1000+ different food items along with many drinkables which also replenish your thirst!
  • More survival aspects: watch your thirst and body temperature!
  • Custom game difficulty: Mobs now have twice the HP!
  • An RPG-like R&D system: Spend XP to unlock item recipes or to see ores you couldn't see before! (Check Questy's "Skills" to see your progress and unlocks!)

R&D

  • Magic and mystery: Study up on wizardy and cast powerful spells upon your enemies!
  • Custom balanced weapons, tools and armor: Tools deal the same damage as their material sword counterpart! Armor is evenly distributed between all parts!
  • A rebalanced and reworked enchantment system: Items can now hold only 3 enchantments! Enchantments no longer exclude eachother! Enchantment levels are capped at level 1!
  • Reworked combat system: Sword blocking reintroduced and attack cooldown removed! Shields can parry projectiles and shoot them back at the attacker!
  • Fast paced, unforgiving combat: Mobs now behave differently! Improvise. Adapt. Overcome!
  • All new done mob AI: Mobs are now smarter and will bring you to your limits!
  • Dodging: You can now dodge! But so can mobs...
  • All new weapons and tools to craft and find!
  • Custom villager trade tables with a tiered coin-based currency!
  • Decaying mob spawners: Building farms is discoured and breaking spawners fast is encouraged!
  • Lots of new potions, enchantments, armor sets with effects, trinkets and baubles & with individual item qualities, which allow for further character building!
  • Records are now baubles too! All provide different bonuses when held in the offhand!
  • Leaves are now passable!
  • Get stacked: Most item stacksizes are now OVER 9000! Potions stack up to 16!

Get Stacked

  • A vast, beautiful and diverse overworld with many new biomes and mobs!
  • Reduced debug info and enhanced compass and clock!
  • Random respawns as long as you haven't set your spawn point!
  • Waystones: They can be used to quick travel between waystones and will set your spawn point!
  • Random questing: Accept and complete bounties on bounty boards which can be found throughout the world!
  • Dimensional Conquest: Explore and conquer strange new dimensions, with bossfights, dungeons and many structures!
  • Really tough endgame dungeons: Face true despair as you enter a wither fortress!
  • Many new nether biomes and terrifying new mobs: Prepare to die!

 

 

Requirements

-Make sure you have downloaded and installed Optifine 1.12.2 HD U F5, otherwise the game won't start!

-Copy and paste following JVM arguments into your start parameters:

OPCraft requires at least 4 GB of ram but 8 GB is the recommended amount. Change Xms8G and Xmx8G to your liking, but keep the both of them at the same value!

Beginner's Guide

0: Maybe you want to check your controls first! Go to "Controls" to see the most important changes this modpack brings with it!

 

1.0: After generating and entering a new world your first objective will be to find gravel! Gravel is needed to get flint! Either harvest flint from it or craft 3 gravel into 1 flint.

1.1: Take newly acquired flint and hit it against a hard surface to get flint shards! (right click on top of stone or terracotta or any hard surface)

1.1.1: Gather sticks by breaking leaves!

1.2: Use a flint shard and a stick to craft a flint knife!

1.3: Use your flint knife to cut down grass to get plant fiber!

1.4: Gather 3 plant fiber to craft 1 plant fiber string!

1.5: Craft a flint hatchet with a flint shard, a stick and a plant fiber string!

1.6: Use your flint hatchet to cut down your first tree!

1.7: Place logs on the ground and chop them to planks! (right click on their top facing surface with a hatchet)

1.8: Use planks to craft a crafting table!

1.8.1: Gather rocks laying on the ground and cut them to flint shards with you knife or gather more flint and make more flint shards!

1.9: Craft a flint pickaxe!

 

2: Gather more plant fiber string and craft wool out of them!

2.1: Craft a bed and use it to set your respawn point once the night comes! Always sleep the night away!

2.2: Depending on the season and the biome you're in either find a water source (to cool down) or build a campfire (to warm up)! Campfires can be lit by right clicking them with sticks!

2.3: Either drink water by sneaking + right clicking a water source or rain or build a club / bamboo spear and find pinapple.

2.3.1: Destroy pineapple with your weapon to get pineapple cubes and imagine bae is coming over! Most fruit will replenish your first!

 

3: Find coal or make charcoal to make torches!

3.1: Craft a huge amount of torches and carry them with you! This game is really dark, but torches will emit light even when held or laying on the ground!

3.1.1: In case you explore a cave: Throw a bunch of torches around (press and hold [Q] to charge a throw to launch it further) to quickly light up an area!

 

4: Read through questy, especially the "Skills" chapter! Questy will feed you bite sized bits of information and track all your quests and advancements automatically!

4.1: Press [K] and open your Reskillable menu! Skill something up to level 4. I recommend either mining, building, defense ore farming as they might be the most important at the early stages!

 

5: Get gear! Either craft gravel armor for a little protection or mine a little iron to craft chainmail armor! There's also wooden shields and stone shields but you can also block a huge percentage of incoming damage with your weapon!

 

6: You're on your own now! For more information consult Questy, especially her "Skills" tab will come in handy!

Known Issues

-The game will kick you from the map when performing an operation on an itemstack with size 214, avoid this stacksize at all cost! If too late, throw away one item of the stack by pressing [Q] while the itemstack is in the hotbar. (Hopefully I can soon update most of the mods, since there already is a version of stackup which removes this bug!) (fixed in v1.2.0+)

-A few blocks from unlimited chisel works are labeled with missing textures within the player GUI and JEI, but have completely normal textures when placed down in the world.

-Cannot use shaders as they overwrite hardcore darkness!

-Game won't start if Optifine U F5 is not installed!

-Doors will be duped when breaking the lower half of the door.

-Don't click the question mark in the aethers baubles menu! It will cause your game to instantly crash!

-Keep Anisotropic Filtering, Antialiasing and Fast Math within Optifines Options off! Otherwise you'll get rendering errors from Chunk Animator and Enhanced Visuals!
