This project has been adopted! The Aether: Legacy project has recently been adopted by the Gilded Games team under a new name. You can view the new source code repository here and issue tracker here. The translation center for The Aether also has a new home here.
Notice: Releases for snapshot versions of Minecraft 1.13/1.14 (on Fabric) have been pulled for the time being due to stability issues. We anticipate an upcoming update of the Aether for Minecraft Forge 1.14 or newer. We do not have plans to make a Fabric release. Releases for Minecraft 1.10 and 1.11 have been archived due to lack of demand and high maintenance costs.
A Hostile Paradise!
Gilded Games presents the original Aether mod! Up to date for modern Minecraft versions and fully compatible with multiplayer!
The Aether is a dimension high in the sky comprised of floating islands! Ascend through a Glowstone portal and begin a new survival adventure packed with new ores, mythical creatures and perilous Dungeons!
All you need to do is build a Glowstone frame and add water to light the mystical portal, step in and you'll be transported immediately to the luscious hostile paradise known as the Aether!
Gilded Games has ensured to keep The Aether as close to the original mod from 2011 as possible, while continuing to work on the sequel, Aether II.

Is this going to be updated to 1.14.4 anytime soon?
Game crashes on me when I kill those whales
So if I have both this and Aether II, I can't get into Aether I because I get the "returning player" message when I try to fill the glowstone frame =\
Is there a way around this?
Thanks!
There is a bad memory leak issue with this mod. I have been playing in my modded world with no issues whatsoever for literal days, the second I step foot into the aether portal the game freezes every couple seconds with my memory usage peaking at 100% of the 5gb dedicated to forge. PLEASE look into this issue.
In reply to God_Dynamo:
Yupp I experienced it too and posted below but no response. I guess the mod is dead or idk what's going on.
It's strange because this mod is extremely well known you'd think there would be more acknowledgement to the memory leak issue it has and getting the devs to fix it but nope. nothing.
In reply to Kainoa25:
I don't know if this will help, but I've never had any of these issues, so maybe I just have a good setup for playing the mod, so I might as well list how I do it.
When using the mod, I usually run a server with 8gb of ram of Forge-1.12.2-2843 (because anything after 2843 breaks the tall grass in the dimension for some odd reason) and have the Aether mod as just one among many other mods. I also have multiple performance mods such as VanillaFix, OptiFine, FoamFix, Phosphor, and others alongside it.
Now, I don't know if maybe I am just not noticing it, but, maybe try installing the performance mods listed, as they might fix the problem, though I doubt it. In truth, I have no idea why I have no issues with it. But, maybe this comment will help, just maybe.
In reply to theStrobilus:
I've actually tried those mods as well as just optifine and just aether alone. Nada. I allocate 6gb of ram then went to 8 and finally 10 and would still instacap on it making the game unplayable.
As for the forge version I could try that one out but i'm not sure if it'll break my pack or not which is worrying so I'll probably just opt out from using the aether. I got twilight forest and betweenlands which both run great and are incredible dimension mods so I won't lose any sleep over not having the aether.
Thanks for the info though, I'll probably at least try that ver. of forge to see how it runs.
In reply to Kainoa25:
If you are usually playing on an older version of Forge, it should be fine. Forge has backwards compatibility with previous forge versions.
I have a Intel Core i3-8100 CPU running at 3.60 GHz with 8 GB of RAM with Minecraft 1.12.2 and every time I try to load/create a world or join a server my game gets stuck on "building terrain". What (probably stupid) mistake am i making and how do i fix it?
In reply to willanynamesworkhere:
probably because this mod has a memory leak as mentioned in my comment below yours.
While checking out all the different dimension mods in one save I noticed my memory was spiking unusually high. so I upped it and it continued to spike. The amount of mods I had shouldn't demand 10gb or ram so I knew I had a memory leak from one of the mods. After trial and error I have narrowed it down to this mod.
Would you take a look into that please? I can't really provide anymore info unfortunately.
OMG!!!BEST MOD EVER!!!!
in the year 2050 the mod will finally be updated to 1.14.4
In reply to apocolypse1017:
Actually, they will be updated to forge 1.14.4 but not for fabric, somwhere by the end of 2019 and start of 2020 i hope
is there a way i can remove accesorys in the config files? i love the aether as a dymension and its mobs but thats all i want i use baubles and its very weird to have accessories from both mods and because i use electroblobs wizardry i have to keep the baubles' accessories.
1.14.4?
does anyone know how to use this on 1.14? i have a macbookair from 2014-2015 and I don't know how to get it to work, if it even works that is.
In reply to dmfasian:
it very clearly says on this page it is for version 1.12.2, not 1.14
can you make it work with optifine?
