Expert³
Is a modpack that I (crafty_zombi3) have been working on since June or July of 2022, though when it started, I had no idea that I planned to make it a public project that could be enjoyable for other people.
When I initially started work on the pack, it was for Minecraft 1.18.2, and it contained around seventy mods that I just wanted to play and mess around with. Eventually, I felt like adding more, and I did this so many times that I eventually got to nearly three hundred mods. By this point, the pack had mods covering every aspect of the game (quality-of-life expansion, tech, magic, exploration, mobs, dimensions, items, you get the idea).
Some point along the line, I decided that I actually wanted to make a quality modpack. I wanted to make an expert pack! I got to work taking tons of notes on the mods that I wanted to include, trying to ensure that I could get them to all work well together. Unfortunately, there was one major problem: I wanted to add more mods. I added so many that I had to completely recreate the pack once or twice again (of course this was just a list of mods, but still).
At some point, the pack had reached about three hundred and sixty mods, and I wanted to work on configuring and tweaking it. The thing that I had not yet realized was just how broken my modpack was. The pack had tons of bugs, balance issues, bloat, and felt horrendously difficult to work with and modify. Additionally, making the pack on 1.18.2 quickly became a huge hindrance to me, with many mods dropping support for it after 1.19's release. I was missing out on months worth of bug fixes, content additions, and even new mods.
In December of 2022, after considering the benefits and drawbacks, I finally made the decision to move the modpack from 1.18.2 to 1.19.2. As mentioned before I would gain tons of bug fixes, content additions, and new mods (even if I did lose a few), but more importantly, upgrading versions would give me the perfect opportunity to reinvent the pack from the ground up. By changing versions, I could shed any model of the pack that existed in 1.18.2 and would be free to build it in a cleaner and easier way.
It then occurred to me that I needed a good name for this modpack. It may not be the best, but I decided to settle on "crafty_zombi3's Expert³", meaning an expert pack for Minecraft, designed by myself (crafty_zombi3).
My goal with this pack is to create a well-balanced, expert modpack with a progression and questing system that properly utilizes all of the mods that I decide to include. The pack will make use of crafting systems and mechanics provided by these mods, and will prioritize spending quality time with different mods all at once. (In other words, you will be using several mods frequently, but your interactions with these mods will all cross over into one another.) Resources and recipes will be changed in order to make a cleaner experience, custom content will be added with KubeJS, and any unnecessary bloat will be cleared.
With all of that being said, I will not make the mistakes that I made last time. The pack's development will be non-rushed and released in small chunks. Mods and other content will be added slowly so that I can easily take on the challenge of tweaking things and making them work together.
On this CurseForge page, you will find experimental/development versions of the modpack I have described above. Each of these versions will likely include a small amount of additions/changes and are designed to allow testing, feedback, and progress tracking. They are in absolutely no way the finished product.
DISCLAIMER: All files released on this CurseForge project are incomplete and prone to issues. Additions, removals, and modifications may happen to any form of content contained in this pack at any time. Updating a world from one version to another may create issues or corruption. If you download any version of this pack, expect content gaps when playing in Survival mode.
This modpack is truly being created as a labor of love, and I hope that everyone has fun with it.
Special thanks to draconicburst54 for his occasional help and contributions!
Mod List:
This list will be updated as mods are slowly added to the modpack. Mods that are crossed out have been removed and are not present in the most recent version of the pack. Sorting may change for the main project, but mods shown here are displayed in order of addition to the modpack. Disclaimer: None of these mods were created by me.
