Note this page is out of date with the mods currently installed. Updated page Soon :tm:

Goals and Progression

The goal of the modpack is to provide enough exploration and progression to enjoy finding new things, while collecting materials to eventually get deep into the tech mods and build your perfect base. There's a variety of tech mods to explore depending on the kind of fantasy you want to use, as well as some magic to explore. I primarily wanted to find well supported mods that extend the existing foundation of minecraft, very much vanilla plus mindset. Balance isn't as much of a concern as fun is, with that being said I want the gameplay to feel balanced, just not at the expense of fun. For example, if you think Mekanism or Mystical Agriculture is too powerful, don't use them. Try some other mods that fulfil the same purpose.

Focus Pillars:

  • Tech: Automation and essentially creative like power once you reach the end of the game
  • Magic: Great expansion of fantasy and combat options with fun progression
  • Farming: Expand farming options at your base with respect to crops, trees, animals, fish, etc. and add new food options
  • Building: Decoration, tools for larger structures, schematics, and villager changes
  • Exploration: New places to explore in different dimensions and across the world, new enemies, new items to find, and more challenges

Suggestions for Progression

Some items I'd suggest working towards:

  • Akashic Tome - Hold all of the books for each mod
  • Sleeping Bag - Sleep anywhere
  • Backpack - More storage
  • Morph-o-tool - Hold all tools for each mod
  • Nature's Compass - Find biomes
  • Explorer's Compass - Find dungeons
  • Waystone - Teleport to new locations
  • Ender Pouch - Stays in inventory and can put items in and take items out from anywhere
  • Ender Chest - Can put items in and take items out from anywhere
  • Any books/tomes/manuals for mods in game to explain how they work

A good first step to exploring this modpack is play the game as you would in regular Minecraft. Once you have iron, a bed and place to call home, some chests, a little bit of food, then progress from here based on what you might want next:

Storage

If you want to solve storage first try Simple Storage Network. It doesn't take too much to get setup, and you can connect all your storage together with little hasle. From there you can try Storage Drawers and/or Iron Chests, both of which add great new capacities for storage and work with Simple Storage Network. In the future if you want extreme storage solutions you could try Refined Storage, but be warned it's very complex and would require a tech mod to power it.

Tech

If you want to start with tech, I'd suggest determining what fantasy you want for your tech to fit your build; magic/nature, steampunk/industrial, futuristic, or vanilla+. For magic/nature Botania and Ars Nouveau work very well together for some cute flora and fauna tech mods that can be self sufficient. For a steampunk/industrial theme we have Create and Immersive Engineering with coal powered machines, large cog based machines, full assembly line factory vibes and all. Mekanism is the futuristic tech mod that can solve all kinds of needs, such as ore doubling, trippling, quadroupling and of course more. The Thermal Series (which includes Thermal Cultivation, Thermal Dynamics, Thermal Expansion, Thermal Foundation, Thermal Innovation, Thermal Integration, Thermal Locomotion) add all kinds of tech that I could totally see in base Minecraft.

Magic

If you want to get started with magic, go for Ars Nouveau combined with Ars Elemental, or Roots Classic. Ars Nouveau adds spells through scrolls around the world to find as well as an in depth spell crafting system. Ars Elemental adds on top of this with more elemental spells for you to find. Roots Classic adds a druidic flare to your magic needs for our naturalists out there.

Farming

If you want to get started with farming Croptopia is your go to for all the new crops and food options. There's tons of new crops you'll find around the world as well as trees. Keep in mind that Serene Seasons is enabled which adds crops that grow faster depending on the preferred season for the crop, so you'll need a variety of food sources to be covered year round. While you're at it you might as well try Cooking for Blockheads, which makes crafting food much easier with connected storage containers in a nice kitchen aesthetic. This one makes your home feel much more homely as well. Additionally, if you're having so much fun farming that you don't want to mine, you could try out Mystical Agriculture. It allows you to eventually get crops that yield ores, so you never have to leave your homely lil farm. Lastly, if you're looking to fish Aquaculture 2 adds a ton of new fish depending on where you are for lots of variety.

Exploration

If you're looking to just explore, I'd really suggest grabbing the Explorer's Compass and Nature's Compass, as this can give you direction in your aimless wandering. There's more structures generated around the world with the Additional Structures mod as well as structures from a variety of different content mods. Quark, Supplementaries, and Apotheosis add a collection of vanilla plus collections of content that you'll find around the world that should spice up your exploration quite a bit. Late game you can travel to some new dimensions with greater challenges with The Twilight Forest or Deeper and Darker.

City Building

If you want to make a city you can use MineColonies to do exactly that with new NPCs that have actual jobs and tasks that they will do in an automated fashion, and will expand with your help to grow the city. There's tons of city themes to choose from, and it's fully expandable with custom schematics.

Building a Base

If you're looking to build something cool, I'd highly recommend looking into Construction Wand which gives you tools to make larger structures in survival with the blocks in your inventory. Additionally both Rechiseled and Chipped give you a variety of new variations on existing blocks to work with and build a super unique base. Domum Ornamentum and Supplementaries add a whole collection of welcomed decorations as well.
