General Fabric Performance

Mainly clientside fabric mods for performance and resourcepack ability

Now, I'm not really sure how to go about this now that the months have gone by, I'm wavering on how I should continue forward with this project. From 1.20 onwards should I continue it will probably be vastly reduced in comparison to its peak in the amount of mods here. Aka, a lot of the QoL stuff added in are probably going to go away, and a good chunk of optifine-like mods are sheerly gone. Due to this I'll keep chugging along and see where this project will go in later versions, but probably as the way things are, I'll eventually make a Modrinth version of this. And if there are no versions past 1.20, well, that means I've made my decision I guess.

 

Otherwise... There isn't actually much to be said here, since all I made was a modpack based on stuff to optimize my experience, without any external mods for things like new mobs, terrain generation, etc. (so I try to make it clientside mostly). I also left some nice looking resource/texture packs I would dub as "Vanilla+", but nothing too special (would anyone think I should really be allowed to give a custom frankenstein resource/texture pack I made without the permissions of those creators?).

 

And yes this is more or less just a compilation of mods together I mostly just put together-none of this is high effort coding or anything along these lines.

In fact... I'm pretty sure anyone could do this with custom curse forge profiles, although for me it was relatively inconvenient that I had to make a new profile each time a new version of minecraft came out, versus making a drop down of different versions like the published modpacks.

 

Huh, in fact this project itself may have not been created if this slight inconvenience didn't exist in normal curseforge loaders for custom profiles...

 

Although now that I think about, I still will be forced to look over more than one profile so really this modpack poses no benefit to me.

Okay I shouldn't rage from the simple convenience of a curated version drop down menu this much.

 

Otherwise I've already gone this far, I may as well keep going despite not me realistically gaining much from doing this.

Additional Notes:

- Feel free to complain, comment, or suggest anything

 

- For some clarification, V1 means I started at version 1.18.1, and every version up, the "V" will increase by 1 (so V1 = 1.18.1, V2 = 1.18.2, V3 = 1.19)

   - If I or when I make earlier versions, I'll go the opposite direction, making something like 1.17.1 = U1, 1.17 = U2, etc.

   - In between versions like "V1.2" or "V2.3" just generally indicates edits/additions I decided to add onto the said modpack of the version itself (and yes, if I run out of decimals of that specific digit, I will go smaller like V1.23 or even V4.51234 although I doubt I would ever get past 2 digits)

 

   - If I make a version that I deem incomplete (like more than 3 mods or so are missing from what I intend and I know the mod in question can be updated eventually) or frankly speaking it's really experimental and I got no clue if it'll work or not, I will basically describe them in greek-alphabet fashion since people are most familiar with it

           - So, I would first make an Alpha version, but if I make another and still deem it not good enough, it'll go to Beta, then to Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, and so forth (and yes I know this isn't how software release works system-wise, it's just I already established successful versions are in the V and U system I made here)

 

   - After some testing, I learned that past 1.14 and below, Fabric is rendered unavailable, and then 1.3.2 and below Forge is rendered unusable due to some mod glitches

   - This means all versions below 1.3.2 can't even be modded... so at most they would be vanilla packs where I put down resource packs available that are vanilla+ to me

   - All the versions on forge will be dubbed as "F" versions, so F1 would be 1.13.2, then F2 would be 1.12.2, etc.

   - All the versions with unusable forge versions will also be dubbed as "R" versions, so R1 would be 1.2.5, then R2 would be 1.2.4, and so on so forth until 1.1

   - Yes I know that most of the optimizations for fps is basically gone when I go early enough since before 1.16 much of the stuff was within the Optifine era, and I know damn well they are independent from the actual curseforge site, so to any that decides to use those versions can expect possible bugginess or some other issues that can occur

   - Also yes, I will still be trying to attempt to put all possible versions for parity's sake, despite what I've said earlier on the likely changes and lacking optimizations here

   - Also also yes, I'm aware that when it reaches Forge versions, hell even the vanilla versions, it'll contradict the entire name of the general modpack-again just me being stubborn and committing to the other purpose of this modpack: making a drop down menu for most if not all available versions I can put on a curseforge loader profile without custom profiles

   - Also also also yes, I will focus on the versions that Fabric supports first, although the Forge and Vanilla versions would be easier just due to the unfortunate lack of mods needed to be added... due to most not being supported that early on or again sheerly because of Optifine dominance of those times

   - Also also also also upon further inspection, when I decided to check the earlier versions of minecraft they of course were breaking down-not in a way where it's unplayable of course, but enough for the experience to be simply... be an odd one to say the least

      - Thus far, I have only encountered lighting, texture, and gui texture issues, and they appear to become more intense the earlier of a version of minecraft we have access to (damn, minecraft really isn't caring for its oldest roots huh?)

     - For this reason alone, I may just either put a warning or even leave the version at a perpetual Beta if I encounter such issues since the actual version itself won't get the full support of curseforge or even the current minecraft launcher itself (unlike certain launchers tailored specifically for old versions of minecraft)

     - Just realized, if I am to do this, I might as well just make them into new projects-no need to actually add them onto this modpack download center that contradicts the performance enhancements of fabric for the most part

 

- For some reason GUI Retextures stopped showing up as a possible curseforge resourcepack prior to 1.18.2, so I instead had to jab it right in manually into the resourcepack folder due to its existence on the add-search bar of the curseforge client being nonexistent unlike before

    - Correction: It seems I am not allowed to do this actually... so for now instead whoever is 1.18.1 and below they may need to manually download the resourcepack and paste it into the resource pack folder in the files

- Stuff like LogicZoom, Continuity, 3D Skin Textures were mainly added as things partial to stuff like Optifine and/or to make things look nicer or adapt better to texturepacks

- Until the versions I put up are verified, the mod "Skin Swapper" on 1.18.1 and 1.18.2 won't be available since I just realized I uploaded the wrong version before adding the mod

   - The most recent versions uploaded should have skin swapper in the versions mentioned lacking it

- Animatica is not updated to 1.19 yet (so it will be absent from the version till then)

   - Animatica is now up to date (as of 1.19 only)

- Just realized JMX itself could crash on certain servers, so it would be advised to actually disable or even outright remove the mod entirely (I only realized this after going to certain servers, but not really knowing the reason or cause for such things apart from a conflict in FREX or maybe even Lithium being nearby despite it technically being isolated from Sodium in a sense)

- I just had the sudden epiphany realizing that while it's true I do add more mods to increase quality of life, it may possibly tank performance if I keep it up...

   - SO WITH THAT IN MIND!-I've decided I'll eventually get around to making "Bare bones performance" versions where there is only optimization mods, and no extra resource packs or mods so to speak for those that may want only performance and vanilla in question
