Welcome to a kinder, gentler kind of Minecraft! Cottage Industry marries the cottage witchcraft of Hexerei with the aesthetic technology of Create and the satisfying tool-customization experience of Tinker's Construct and many other supporting mods to create a softer, more aesthetic survival experience.
This is the very beginning of the Cottage Industry modpack! This pack is very much a work-in-progress and the included mods, recipes etc. are very likely to change as we sort out game balance, quests, and pathways. Right now it's pretty rough around the edges, but the goal is to make a pack suitable for casual survival building and landscaping while maintaining the chewy puzzle of how to automate a wide range of resources. Combat is not prioritized here; instead, the goal is to include more cozy ways to get the same resources for squishy-hearted gamers like myself. This is also my first pack! Please help me out if you see any issues and let me know about them - I'm definitely still learning. 💚
Notes about the Pack
Currently, this pack is just the mods - no custom advancements or quests are included yet, and the recipes included are mostly either experimental or basic compatibility and quality of life type things. Expect changes to come!
There are a few known issues with mods in the pack (list on the wiki). Most notably, the Dowsing Rod item from Hexerei will crash the game if thrown or placed into an item frame (this should be fixed in the next update).
Optifine is not included and it may cause the game to crash if it is added. I've tested version 0.0.5 with OptiFine HD U H4 and had that work, so if you'd like to try including that you can get that here. (Optifine is not part of the CurseForge ecosystem, so it can't be included in the pack directly.)
The MIT license for the pack only applies to things I've added to the pack - the mods and datapacks themselves are licensed separately by their creators (details in the Featured list below!)
Notes for Starting Out
Make a Dowsing Rod from Hexerei using sticks and leaves to find the nearest Swamp and Jungle biomes! You can find what you need to get started with Hexerei in those two biomes - look for the leaves changing color to guide you in the right direction (Mahogany trees and Selenite geodes in the Jungle and all the various plants to collect and harvest plus Coven Villages and Willow trees in the Swamp) Watch out though! There's currently a bug where throwing the dowsing rod or placing it in an item frame will crash the game (should be fixed in the next update!). Here is how the Dowsing Rod looks in use:
Look for and activate the Waystones you find along the way - that will let you jump between locations easily
JEI is your friend - make sure to use Create's "Ponder" function along with that, to see what all the Create Mod items can do!
Tinker's Construct has a lot to work with and it can be confusing; luckily there is a book (Materials and You) for the mod that you will get starting out. (There will be more information on that here soon as well.)

Please consider supporting the wonderful people who take so much time and energy creating and maintaining Minecraft mods and datapacks! A lot of these people have put thousands of hours into making content so we can enjoy it for free, and it would be great to give back to them when we can. If you spot any broken or outdated links, missing or incorrect information, or any way I can better support & give credit to these creators, please let me know! More links to Discord, Patreon, Twitter etc are being added as we go; you can see and comment on the live list of mods being considered, tested, and added in the Google Sheets spreadsheet here.
