The two main mods in this pack are Fossils and Archaeology Revival and The Erebus (details below). Fossils and Archaeology Revival and Erebus both add unique creatures to the game: Dinosaurs and giant bugs, respectively. The Erebus also adds a very cool dimension to a world of fun and occasionally dangerous insects. This modpack is for 1.12.2.
I have loved Fossils and Archaeology since early in its development, and am pleased that it works so well with The Erebus. I've really enjoyed playing with this modpack and decided to share it. These mods are the main focus of this pack, which adds mainly dinosaur and insect mobs.
Although the two mods work well on their own, I have added some extra mods to make playing more interesting, as well as some utility mods for convenience. I included Decocraft for people who might want to build a dinosaur park and make it pretty, Refined Storage because inventory management can be a hassle, and Immersive Engineering to power your Refined Storage with style. I also added some food mods, including Pam's HarvestCraft and Aquaculture 2, because feeding dinosaurs can be overwhelming when you have a lot of mouths to feed, and you need all the food options you can get! There are several other mods, so please check the list down below for the complete list of mods. You have options in how to play this modpack, whether you want to focus on exploring the new dimension, The Erebus, or focus on bringing dinosaurs back to life and creating the perfect home for them.
Recommendations and notes:
- Bring the materials to craft a second portal with you when you enter The Erebus dimension. It seems the portal occasionally breaks on the first time you enter the dimension, and you could possibly be left stranded there if you can't make another wand and keystone. Check the mod info (linked below) as they have listed the materials needed to open the portal on their CurseForge page. Don't forget to bring leaves, which also disappear! Crafting the items needed in the correct sequence is important as well, so if you're playing in creative mode, give yourself the materials needed and switch to survival to craft everything.
- Again, check out the mod links below! All mods used are listed with links to their CurseForge pages. They often have helpful wikis, crafting recipes, or other useful advice for each mod. Support your favorite mod creators! They do the real leg work for modpacks and they deserve lots of credit.
- Unfortunately, there is not a Dynamic Trees add-on for Fossils and Archaeology Revival or The Erebus. Dynamic Trees will not work with the trees from these two mods. This means you cannot cut down these trees all at once the way you can with the vanilla, Biomes O' Plenty, or Pam's HarvestCraft trees. They will also not have the more realistic shapes of the trees from mods supported by Dynamic Trees.
- Make sure your world generation is set to Realistic Terrain Generation. This will allow beautiful world creation combined with biomes from Biomes O' Plenty. This is thanks to the Climate Control/Geographicraft mod (I'm not sure how it works exactly, but it seems to work fine in testing).
- Realistic Terrain Generation is not easily used with servers, mainly those hosted by 3rd parties like Aternos. If you want to play with friends, LAN or personally hosted servers should work as long as each person is running this modpack. To be used on a 3rd party hosting service, you may need to remove Realistic Terrain Generation. Please leave a comment if you use this on a server, I would love to hear how it goes and any problems you run into, since I have not tested it in multiplayer myself. If people enjoy this pack I plan on creating a multiplayer/server friendly version.
- I have not tested this pack with any resource or texture packs. If you would like to try one, be aware that some textures may be broken or look wrong. If you find one that is compatible, definitely suggest it in the comments! I'm sure other people would be interested in playing with it.
- I am not responsible for any of these mods individually. For some of them, they have not been updated in awhile or future updates are not being planned. This means future versions (which are not in the making as of the time of this writing) of this modpack may or may not include the same mods found in this one.
- Feedback and suggestions welcome! I am continuing to play test this pack, so while I believe everything is in working order at this time, I cannot guarantee that issues won’t arise on other people’s setups. As such I cannot hold any responsibility for any data loss or corruptions, although that would be very unlikely and I haven't experienced any problems myself. Please backup your worlds and let me know about any issues you find in the comments, as I may be able to fix them if it’s a compatibility issue. I look forward to hearing suggestions to improve this modpack and other packs I'm thinking about making.
Many thanks to all the awesome mod authors! This is part with all the links. Most of these have information not included on this page or in game so I once again highly recommend checking the mods out. I especially suggest looking at the larger, more in depth mods such as Fossils and Archaeology Revival, The Erebus, Pam’s HarvestCraft, Aquaculture 2, Immersive Engineering, and Refined Storage. This is because they all have important gameplay features in this modpack and most of their documentation is not in game, so their pages are the best places to find wikis and other information to help you along. I am not an expert in some of these mods, so their wikis will probably be much more helpful than I could be if you’re having a hard time getting started with the gameplay (but do leave a comment if something seems broken!).
