This modpack was created because I wanted a slightly harder survival experience than what vanilla Minecraft offers, but did not want the difficulty level of other popular modpacks like RLCraft. This pack is the server friendly version of Slightly Harder Survival. Because this version is designed to work with third party server programs like Aternos, some features have been removed, including the mod Realistic Terrain Generation. If you’re playing single player, please check out the full featured version of this mod pack (linked above).
Recommendations and notes:
- Check out the mod links below! All mods used are listed with links to their CurseForge pages. They often have helpful wikis, crafting recipes, or other useful advice for each mod. Support your favorite mod creators! They do the real leg work for modpacks and they deserve lots of credit.
- Note: This is the multiplayer version of this modpack and lacks some features from the original pack. This helps keep it lighter and makes it compatible with certain hosting software. Check out Slightly Harder Survival for a more fully featured version of the pack for single player.
- Make sure you’re running the same version of forge and the mods on your server, as well as that each player has the same pack with the same mod versions.
- In the config files for Tough As Nails, thirst has been disabled. If you prefer to play with thirst on, it can be reenabled through the in game mod menu. I personally find the thirst mechanic to be a little tedious and recommend trying the pack without it first. It can be reenabled after world creation without causing issues in the save. Thirst will probably also have to be enabled or disabled in any server configs.
- SpawnController is used in this mod as a way to control certain mobs from spawning. If you do not want some mobs, like creepers, to spawn in your world, you can either use the config file for SpawnController or the commands it includes to change spawn rates. This can also be used to tweak the difficulty to your liking, by increasing, decreasing, or completely preventing certain mobs from spawning. How to use it can be found on the mod’s page linked below.
- I have not tested this pack with any resource or texture packs. If you would like to try one, be aware that some textures may be broken or look wrong. If you find one that is compatible, definitely suggest it in the comments! I'm sure other people would be interested in playing with it.
- I am not responsible for any of these mods individually. For some of them, they have not been updated in awhile or future updates are not being planned. This means future versions (which are not in the making as of the time of this writing) of this modpack may or may not include the same mods found in this one.
- Feedback and suggestions welcome! I am continuing to play test this pack, so while I believe everything is in working order at this time, I cannot guarantee that issues won’t arise on other people’s setups. As such I cannot hold any responsibility for any data loss or corruptions, although that would be very unlikely and I haven't experienced any problems myself. Please backup your worlds and let me know about any issues you find in the comments, as I may be able to fix them if it’s a compatibility issue. I look forward to hearing suggestions to improve this modpack and other packs I'm thinking about making.
Many thanks to all the awesome mod authors! This is part with all the links. Most of these have information not included on this page or in game so I once again highly recommend checking the mods out. This is because they all have important gameplay features in this modpack and most of their documentation is not in game, so their pages are the best places to find wikis and other information to help you along. I am not an expert in some of these mods, so their wikis will probably be much more helpful than I could be if you’re having a hard time getting started with the gameplay (but do leave a comment if something seems broken!). Mods listed in alphabetical order (:
