Description

Modpack Series on YouTube in various Languages

[English] PolarPlays watch this group of 2 sometimes 3 friends attempt not to lose their mind as they try to complete the pack.

[Japanese] The skilled Player Kartinas and their unique style will guide you through the Adventure.

[French] Explore the Modpacks earlier versions together with MrMldeg but don’t throw away your Akashic Tome like he did.

A video could show slightly outdated versions.

Modpack Story:

One day the World got shaken to its core!

Earthquakes, Droughts, Tornadoes, Floods, every possible Disaster that could happen happened all over the World, without anyone knowing what caused it.

Despite the damage all around the world, Human Civilization could have recovered from these kinds of Disasters. But sadly that’s not all that had happened.

The Dimensional Boundaries ruptured! Opening Rifts and Portals to places long forgotten and filled the World with Monsters, Spatial Distortions and Strange Things that can happen at any time.

Well to tell the truth all that happened hundreds and hundreds of years ago and among the few surviving humans no one knows how the World turned into what it is now. Only a few buildings of the once advanced civilization are left and poke out of the ground here and there but new cults and small villages have appeared over this time and sometimes you can even find a populated village or a strange structure.

But a great threat lingers over the slowly recovering parts of this world!

And here "YOUR" Story will begin, because "YOU" found "ME".

(More Story to be read in the Questbook, hope you enjoy it)

Modpack Information:

Dimension Zero is a Story based Hardcore Questing Modpack which is intended to provide a fun experience for Hardcore Beginners and Veterans alike. (Not intended for Vanilla 1 life Hardcore it’s too hard)

It consists of a variety of Tech, Magic and RPG based Mods which should last you and your friends for a while before running out of things to do.

Monsters get more difficult to deal with as time passes and some recipes have been changed to adjust progression without taking away to much freedom when choosing what to do next.

Every 5 Nights a Dimensional Rift will open and you will be faced with a challenge. Who knows what it could be?

In general your Survival Skills will be tested in many different ways.

But don’t worry you will have multiple ways to deal with this. Not only can you gain extra permanent Health! by collecting heart crystals from Monsters but also from collecting certain accessories or simply eating different types of food.

Also modded Weapons and Magic have been adjusted to do damage befitting the difficulty and you can create customizable Armor and Weapons to fit your personal needs ranging from normal Swords and Bows to Shurikens, Yoyos and more.

And to top it off - over 130 different Magical Spells to discover and use if weapons aren’t to your liking. Ranging from Fireballs, Blizzards or Meteors to commanding an Army of Undead you will surely find something to fit your Style.

There are many more SKILLS and ABILITYS you can acquire, for a fun RPG like feel that lets you experience leveling up in a whole new light.

I recommend reading these Important Notes:

------------ Important Notes for older versions ------------

Reading the Quests as this is a Story based pack you will miss a lot of the changes and reasons why things don’t work like you are used to if you don’t. This is not a joke!

A minimum of 6 GB of Ram recommended would be 8 GB of Ram for the best performance. You can do that directly in the Twitch/Curse App options.

Using the Jar Launcher not the new Minecraft Launcher that is set as standard. You can do that directly in the Twitch/Curse App options.

There are pictures of the optimal settings in the Pictures tab of this project page at the top in case you aren’t sure how to set them correctly. Or watch this Video on how to do it.

When making a Server make sure your Server has enough Ram allocated and not just your client to prevent rubber banding and other issues.

And using Java 8 v231 or newer – (64 bit).

Using /forge generate <x y z of your spawn position> <how many chunks around it> (for example /forge generate 0 0 0 10000) to pregenerate your world.

To Install Optifine to further improve FPS.

Using the Sphax Texture Pack with the corresponding Modpack patch for a neat looking World.

Turning up MipMap levels if you want to. I set them from 4 to 0 to prevent people with slower PCs to experience lag. (This is best done in the options.txt file not in game as it will take ages to change ingame).

------------ Additional Information ------------

The Hardcore aspect of the Modpack is not forced on you. You can decide if you want to play it in hardcore mode or not, by simply checking a special Quest in the Questbook. (Don’t create your world in Minecraft Hardcore make a normal Survival one and use the Quest)

You will start with 42 Lives and you can get more by doing Quests. Not that a skilled player like you would need them all anyway right????

I humbly ask you NOT to Cheats! (or at least have some self control when doing so). Skipping nights makes the no sleep and Rifts system useless and changing game rules makes the special game rule setting useless, fire spread is turned off as well and mob grifing is special in this pack so don’t change it. Don’t worry, Creepers won’t blow up your stuff! You don’t need keep inventory if you die you will get an indestructible grave stone, a few buffs to keep you alive and a scroll to teleport to the graves location no matter where it is. (You also can’t fall out of the world). Thank You!

I didn’t make any of these Mods, I only put them together to create this Modpack. I hope that people playing it will have as much fun as I had making and testing it.

As a Server Owner you should select "lostcities_bop" as world type and keep the area around X=0 and Z=0 an area where no one can build anything to prevent a certain feature from messing with another person’s base, if someone finishes the Quests. And maybe create a Structure for your spawn area to keep new players save if they spawn at night.

Loading Screen Tips (in case they are to fast for you):

You can set your spawn point by simply clicking on a bed.

Every 5 different food items you eat give you 1 extra Heart. This effect drops off after gaining 20 extra Hearts to 10 items needed and to 15 after reaching 40 extra Hearts and so on.

Sometimes a recipe may seem unreasonably hard to make, you can just try to find the item in the world as it is sometimes easier to just go exploring.

Creeper Explosions don't destroy blocks anymore.

You can't sleep to skip the night since Akashic disabled your need to sleep to save the world faster!

Cactus is a great material for a Battle Sign as its Damage Reflecting abilities work well with the Battle Signs ability to be used as a Shield.

The More flat Armor Points your Armor has the heavier it is. Upgrading it with some kind of speed modifier will counteract this.

Open light sources attract Mobs from far away to their location.

The Haste Totem gives you not only 20% Mining Speed but also 10% Attackspeed. Combined with a lot of Redstone on your Weapons this makes you hit really fast.

The Strength totem can stack up the highest among all ability totems. Each stack gives you +3 Damage!

Astral Sorcery holds a very powerful secret. Maybe you will find it out when you attune yourself to a constellation. I recommend Discidia or Armara for Combat fanatics and the Rest for the Builders and Miners among us!

Minor Mods aren not as weak as you remember them. Dimension Zero changes a lot so be prepared for some fun and unexpected power ups.

Some Mobs get attracted by noises like pistons or breaking blocks and some Mobs can smell blood and will follow the scent to find you when you are hurt.

Can't figure out how to get an item? Check JEI. It may have your answer.

Light prevents hostile Mobs from spawning where it shines but on the other hand also attracts them from further away to the light source.

You can make arrows that float or explode when using the right materials.

Use F7 to see the light levels on the ground and F9 to see the chunk borders.

You can replace tool and armor parts in the corresponding station, so you don't have to craft new tools to upgrade.

Are Mobs bothering you around your base? Try making some defensive turrets or NPC Guards.

Lava and Fire do more damage than usual so be careful, the same goes for burning, withering, poison and other such effects.

Mobs deal more damage than usual and their health and damage increases over time.

When you kill a Mob that's covered in purple flames it will drop a large amount of heart crystals shards.

When updating the pack make sure to use the quest/loot update quests in the quest book to update the quests/loot. Your progress will not be reset.

Be careful around Rifts if you touch them or a Rifter drags you inside you will end up in another Dimension that you can only exit by finding another Rift.

Rifts won't appear where there is Light you can also close them by placing a source of light next to one.

Waystone teleportation cannot be used across Dimensions.

You can craft 4 useless ability totems together to make a new random one.

Did you know that there are ways to tame not only Dogs and Cats but also Hippogryph, Dragons and nearly all mobs from Grimoire of Gaia.

You can equip up to 6 Talents, and store excess ones in an Ability Bottle. Switch hem out whenever you wish.

Armor Trims only provide 1 Point of Durability, no matter what material you use. This enables you to choose them depending on the ability you want to add to your armor.

Tinkers Armor and Tools start with 10 Modifier slots and gain an additional one every time they level up, up to 10 times. If you need more Slots to buff your weapons you need to craft the Creative Modifier.

Mobs Spawned by Spawners drop only 1/4 the amount of experience!

Yoyos are a fun weapon as they not only have range but also inflict melee dmg to everything they touch in a small area. You can even hold them in your offhand.

The Immersive Revolver and Railgun are powerful weapons they may have a slow reloading time but can do immensely high amounts of dmg.

Open modular Turrets may start off with low dmg but with a better base, better turret and some upgrades you can do up to 1k DMG to Mobs around your base.

There are some things you can only find by looting the chests inside structures like dungeons and buildings, such as wand upgrades certain high lvl abilities and spells among others.

Every 5 Nights a Rift appears and releases a wave of Crazy Monsters that will storm your base. Be prepared!

JEI only displays the important things to keep it clean. For example Tinkers items don't show the completed parts of every combination only the completed tool of the lowest grade but it does show all parts.

If a Named Monster has Stars over it, be careful as the more Stars they have the stronger they are. But the Items they can drop also increase in value. Maybe even a Loot Chest or an Extra Life.

If you journey around the world you will find many abandoned structures of ancient civilizations, but also ones that are heavily guarded by various descendants of Survivors. They all hold great treasures.

If you decide to make your own colony, make sure to only make it as big as you can protect. Having too many NPCs could cause lag.

Every Type of Base is equally unsafe if not properly protected. For example living in a Sky Base causes more flying mobs to spawn or ones that can go through Walls especially during Invasions.

FAQ:

Why does my Mattock only squeak and do no damage? I need a weapon?

Well this Mattock is a mystery even to your companion. It is made from sponge and has silk touch and that’s why it doesn’t do dmg. It serves as an early game axe and shovel as well as a farming hoe. But if you read the quests you know why the only thing you don’t know is why you even have it. And also why you should replace it with a normal axe and normal shovel fast. It’s all noted in the second quest Woodpecker. Also if you manage to complete the quest for the Tool Station and Armor Station you get a free buffed Soul bound Weapon.

Why can’t I craft or make any of the Books?

You don’t need to you can use the Key part of the Story aspect of this Modpack. The Akashic Tome has all needed books in it and you have it from the start (you will know if you read at least the first quest). By default its set to Questbook mode you can simply left click it in the air (not against a block) to turn it into selection mode and select whatever book you need to read in. And if you lose it you can get a new one via the Summon Artifact quest on the first page (you may need to assign the keybind to open the quest screen for this).

I can’t accept X quest! What do I do?

Did you make sure to read it properly? Maybe there is more text! Try scrolling the text box down. Also try looking at the little arrow next to the claim button sometimes there is a choice reward on the next page.

Do I really have to do the Ex:Nihilo sieving quests isn’t that a waste of time with the rising difficulty?

Well yes you have to do the quest but where does it say you really need to sieve for it. If you are brave enough you can find most materials like diamonds and ingots or the like by exploring and looting. The Sieving itself is only kept as an option for people who want to stay save at night and still have something to do. My tip: explore at day sieve at night in the beginning. You can’t sleep anyway and you can get home fast with the home waystone. You don’t even need to sieve to get stone you can just shift click a block of dirt or grass to get pebbles. And later make a cobble generator via extrautils nodes or something else.

Why can’t I make Angel Rings or other easy Creative flight items?

Even thought the Mods that normally provide these items are in the pack I simply disabled these items. Creative Flight breaks Combat in many ways and the only way to get the Creative Flight would be to make the Draconic Armor or to get the Botania Flügel Tiara earned via a Boss fight. Other than that there are many Fly options giving non creative flight like Wings, Magic spells or other hidden items that let you sore up into the sky like a rocket. (Just no permanently hovering mid air hitting mobs from above sry). My favorite would be The Elytra flight powered by Firework Rockets this form of Vanilla Flight is one of the fastest and most fun ways to travel.

I just made a sky base now monsters will never get to me ha I beat the pack. What are you going to do about that?

Don’t think a sky base is safer than a Ground or Underground one! The longer you are at higher altitudes, the higher is the chance that flying Monsters or ones that can phase trough walls will spawn. Especially during Rift Invasions! This is a feature to make any kind of base equally unsafe, if not properly defended (although it's easier to make a lava moat on the ground than in the air.) Remember, you can also make defensive turrets or make your own army of AW soldiers to keep your base safe.

I die often, how can I survive if it's so hardcore?

Well this is the key part to figure out in this pack. You don’t need to go for the ultimate automation to make any ultimate ingots or super mega planks with crazy 10x10 crafting. In this pack instead you need to survive. All I can say is eat a lot of different foods to gain perm HP as well as fight mobs yourself for special loot. Some drops only drop when you kill them and not some grinder. Like even more perm HP items. Also exp will help you get skills and implement totems for permanent abilities into yourself.

I still can’t survive I am at a higher difficulty help! What do I do now?

Ok Seems like you need more help to survive. Maybe these tips will help you. 1: Delve into the Turret defense quest line once you have fully upgraded laser Turrets you are the saves you can be even during Rift Invasions. 2: Upgrade your Tinkers Armor the armor book has the knowledge about the modifiers you can get. I recommend 8x Resistance on every part of armor as every plate you add gives 2% dmg reduction. 3: maybe instead of going into the tech stuff you can try focusing on the quest trees that don’t need much resources and time early on but provide you with buffs and survival helping stuff.

I am at max difficulty 400 and now I have trouble killing mobs they have so much HP. This Modpack drives me crazy it turns all my common sense of modded Minecraft upside down what do I do?

Congratulations! Keeping at it for so long means you either left your server running sitting somewhere AFK in creative mode or you actually played and survived XD. You can do immense damage be it with upgraded Skills and some damage buffing totem abilities or simply by over buffing your tinkers weapon (they do come with 10 free modifiers + 10 for leveling and you can craft creative modifiers to add literally every and all dmg buff possible to the weapon) or simply use magic or weapons from another mod. And if that’s all not enough and you should consider delving into Astral Sorcery. If you manage to attune yourself to a constellation (I recommend Discidia for Damage or Armara for Defense) you can get a new Skill tree to lvl up and buff yourself to the brim my best was around 500 dps with around 100+ armor.

Why do my Shaders not work properly?

I can’t do anything about that you need to find a Shader that works or just not use it. There are many built in ambience things and due to Astral Sorcery and multiple sky renders most Shaders don’t work at 100%. What I can recommend is using the PureBDCraft Sphax Texture pack with the Modpack patch combined for a neat looking world. Even without Shaders! But hey maybe you find one that works.

Can i stream this Modpack or Host it on a Server for friends or other people to play?

Yes. I dont own any of the mods within the pack nor do i hold the rights to prevent you from doing so. I just want you to have fun with it so go ahead.

Sphax Texture Pack Patch:

Here is the patch containing all modded blocks in the pack!

Dimension Zero Sphax Patch

Also remember to add the patch to the standard Sphax Texturepack, or you will be missing all the vanilla textures (it is a patch after all). The standard textures are not allowed to be included in Modpack patches so you have to download them from the official website and then combine the zip files yourself.

Official Vanilla Sphax Textures

And here is a Video of a random person explaining it if you are not sure on how to do it at all (its about ATM3 but its the same process with DZ)
