Description
Spell Atlas is a companion mod for Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks. Cast a spell once and it is recorded in your atlas, a book you open from a button in your inventory. The book is a guide for new mages and a record of your progress, and it adds new ways to grow as a mage. It works with Iron's Spells alone and picks up every installed addon automatically. Every system can be switched off in the config.
📖 The atlas
- Every school and spell from Iron's Spells and from every installed addon, found at runtime. No addon is required.
- Discover spells by casting them from a spellbook, scroll or weapon, with a toast for each new one. Search and filters only look at discovered spells, so nothing is spoiled.
- Spell cards: description, levels, mana, cooldown, your mastery, where to get the spell (Scroll Forge ingredients, loot, items that carry it) and your combat record with it. There are one-click JEI recipes, favourites, notes and side-by-side comparison.
- My Spellbook: your equipped spells with their real levels, mana and cooldowns after every bonus.
- Statistics: mana, spell power, cooldown and cast-time reduction, and the power and resistance of every school. Hover a value to see which item or effect gives it.
- A guide for new players: mana, scrolls, spellbooks, the Scroll Forge, runes and the Arcane Anvil, your own key bindings, a page per school, 30+ ready-made builds, "Next Steps" and one-time tips in chat.
- Bestiary of magic mobs, filled in as your server meets them: their spells, drops, dimensions and a 3D model.
- Rumours hint where your undiscovered spells can be found, without naming them.
🎓 Growing as a mage
- Spell mastery: casting a spell raises its mastery rank (I-III). Each rank adds a level and a perk you pick: Power, Thrift or Haste.
- School reactions: hit a foe with two schools in quick succession and it reacts. Fire then Ice is Thermal Shock, Fire then Lightning is Overload, and so on. There are 32 reactions, including ones for addon schools. Players can react together, and reactions are datapack files.
- School affinity: choose a main school and two more. Using them builds affinity for more power, less mana and shorter cooldowns.
- School familiar: at a quarter of full affinity, a small spirit of your main school joins you. It strikes what you fight with its school's magic (fire burns, ice slows, holy heals you) and grows in four tiers.
- Atlas knowledge, hunter's knowledge and scroll study: lasting bonuses for completed schools, for hunting one kind of magic mob, and for studying spare scrolls.
- Mage titles before your name (Apprentice to Archmage, School Master, Grandmaster, Alchemist, Monster Hunter and nemesis titles). The worn title gives a small bonus.
🛒 Arcane Points and the Perk Shop
- Earn Arcane Points from discoveries, mastery, reactions, challenges, bosses, elites and more.
- Spend them in the Perk Shop: 36 perks in five groups (attack, defence, summons, mana, utility) and five rarities, worn in perk slots you unlock as you go. There are also perk cards and a slot sigil.
- Cosmetics: title colours, particle trails when you cast, and a tint for your atlas's cover. They are bought once and never affect a fight.
⚔️ Challenges and danger
- Daily and weekly challenges, the same for everyone on the server, with loot, experience and points.
- Scaling difficulty: monsters grow with your power, and some come as elites.
- Anomalies: rifts of a school that open in the world, with waves of mobs and a guardian. They come in four difficulties with rewards to match.
- Nemeses: a mob that kills you gets a name, a rank and an epithet, and waits for you in its lair. It grows stronger, may ambush you, and pays out when you finally defeat it. The hall of the fallen remembers them.
- Mage duels: challenge a player from your inventory. Nobody dies (a duel ends at 1 HP) and nobody loses items. Ratings are kept (Elo).
- Gear sets and school relations: wearing matching pieces boosts a school, and schools strengthen or weaken each other. Both are datapack files.
🔧 For servers and pack makers
- Server ranking, server statistics and chat announcements for legendary discoveries and milestones.
- Config in
config/_AtlasSpells/(switches ingeneral.toml, every number inbalance.toml) and operator commands. - Datapacks: reactions, school relations, gear sets, guide pages and loot tables (
spell_atlas:rewards/*). - Advancement triggers
spell_atlas:discover,spell_atlas:mastery,spell_atlas:killandspell_atlas:nemesis_defeated, which work with FTB Quests and Bountiful. - A public API (events and queries) for other mods.

Optional mod support
Nothing below is required. Each entry only switches on when its mod is installed. The newest integrations come first.
- Artificer's Almanac: the two books work as one. Its titles join your title list, its perks are the Perk Shop's Artifice group, forging, salvaging, identifying scrolls and breaking seals count for challenges and give points, nemeses and anomalies also drop staff parts, a staff core in your affinity school hits harder, mastery raises the level a spell can be imbued at, and duels get an Equal power option.
- Iron's Spells addons (Cataclysm Spellbooks, T.O. Magic, Hazennstuff, Elden Ring Spells, Leylines, Grimoire of Gaia Spells, Magic From The East, Pact Arcana and others): their schools and spells appear in the atlas, 28 extra builds appear in the guide, and 9 more school reactions work.
- Sodium Dynamic Lights / LambDynamicLights: the school familiar glows like a torch.
- GeckoLib: the school familiar is a 3D animated model. Without it a simple model is used.
