As many of you may know Pixelmon has been locked to the long forgotten era of 1.12.2. Due to it being a much older version then many new players are accustomed to, many quality of life features that newer generations have added and are not in the version drive many players away.

You like the newer textures? USING A REVOLUTIONARY RESOURCE PACK, WE BACKPORTED THE TEXTURES.

Afraid that the new stone doesn't work with the old Pixelmon ores? WE MADE A RESOURCE PACK FOR THAT TOO.

Want better terrain? TRAVERSE, ITS COMPATIBLE WITH THE PIXELMON BIOMES AND MAKES NEW BIOMES AND TERRAIN.

The basic idea is that we backported many of the new features from 1.17 and 1.18 to 1.12.2, while also making the game cosmetically and adventurously interesting. Especially with mods like:
