Vamoose's Slipstream

The fastest way from here to anywhere: Dungeons, flights, portals, boats and your hearthstone, planned and guided step by step, on WoW: Forever.

Type where you want to go, press GO, and follow the steps. Slipstream weighs every way you can travel at once -- flight paths, portals, boats, zeppelins and airships, the Deeprun Tram, your hearthstones and their cooldowns, class teleports and toys -- and picks the fastest. A compass points the way, the steps tick off as you go, and a map of the zone shows you the road.

What's New in v2.1.0

• Step Icons -- Each step on the route shows how you travel it: a walker for a walk, a badge with a boat, airship, tram, flight master's boot, portal, hearthstone or spell for the rest, and a pin where you arrive. The step you're on is ringed in blue
• The Leg Under Each Step -- Dots for a walk, a bar for a flight or a ride, a thin line for a portal or teleport
• Portals Tick Off On Landing -- A portal you walk through, such as Darnassus to Rut'theran Village, now completes as soon as it sets you down. The route used to wait on it until you walked back into the portal

Plan a Trip

Search, pick, GO.

• One Search For Everything -- Towns and places, flight masters, docks, portals, inns, dungeons and raids, all in one box
• Places, Not Journeys -- Results are named for where you arrive ("Flight master, Westfall"), with the zone under each one
• The Fastest Way -- Every way of travelling competes in the same search, and a hearthstone or teleport on cooldown shows as a wait
• Favourites and Recents -- Star the places you go often; your recent trips, and the dungeons in your zone, are one click away
• Other Side's Flight Masters -- A flight master or dock that serves only one faction says so in the search

Follow It

Clear steps, a compass, and no surprises.

• Step List -- Every step in plain words: "Fly to Sentinel Hill", "Take the airship to Dalaran", "Hearth to Razor Hill"
• Route HUD -- Every step with an icon for how you travel it and the leg under it, your current step ringed, and a card for any item you need to use
• Compass -- A 3D arrow, distance and ETA to the next step, across zone borders; Blizzard's gold waypoint arrow can follow the same step, or be switched off
• Steps Tick Themselves Off -- Casting your hearthstone or a teleport completes its step, and so does landing where it goes, so a hearthstone works too; a boat, zeppelin or airship ticks off as you step off at its dock, and a portal as it sets you down
• Arriving Counts -- Heading for a town, you arrive as you enter it, not at a point in the middle of it
• Reroutes Only When They're Worth It -- A genuinely faster way from where you are now reroutes you, and says so; finishing a long leg never does
• Your Own Waypoints Are Safe -- Slipstream only ever clears the waypoints it placed

• Forever's Travel Network -- Its flight paths, the boats, zeppelins and airships, the Deeprun Tram, the Rut'theran portal, Dalaran's Skyborne portal to Stormwind, and the class teleports
• No Flying, So Walks Stay On The Ground -- Walking legs cross between zones only where they really connect: over the bridges, through the passes, gates and tunnels, and up Thunder Bluff's lifts, timed at your own pace on foot, riding or epic riding
• Faction-Aware -- The Dalaran airship is routed for the Alliance only (Horde can board it, but Dalaran's guards are waiting); Horde leave Zephras Isle by the airship to Skywatcher Plateau, below Thunder Bluff
• Hearth To Your Inn -- Every town inn is on the map, so a hearthstone step lands where your hearthstone really takes you
• Every Named Place Is A Destination -- Search any town or place the map names, like Valanaar or the Lakkari Tar Pits, and GO
• Dungeons And Raids -- Search one and Slipstream takes you to the instance portal itself, not the graveyard you'd release at; every portal it knows is marked on the map

The Wayfinder Map

A map of the zone beside your steps, drawn from Slipstream's own survey of it.

• The Road Ahead -- Coastline, roads and trails, towns and places by name, flight masters, inns, docks, dungeon and raid portals and the bridges out, with your walk to the next stop drawn along the road and fading behind you as you go
• Where You're Headed -- A dashed line points at your destination, with its name and distance
• Hover For Details -- Point at a marker for its name, what it is and how far away it is; clicks and camera drags still go through to the world
• North Up, Or Heading Up -- The open map keeps north up with your arrow turning; fold it to a strip of the road ahead that turns with you
• Faction Rings -- Flight masters and docks are ringed in the side they serve: blue for the Alliance, red for the Horde, white for both
• Three Looks On Paper -- Parchment, Ley-line and Chalk, each drawn on a paper grain with a watercolour wash on the sea; switch with the button in the map's corner
• Your Choice Of Lettering -- Roboto Condensed, Noto Sans, Google Sans or the game's own font
• Map Key -- One button lists every symbol the map draws, in the map's own style
• Coordinates And ETA -- Your position beside the time to your next stop

The Map Window

Open it with /vss map, from the map button on the card or in Slipstream's title bar, or by right-clicking the minimap button.

• Drag And Zoom -- From the streets out to the whole continent, with the zones joined seamlessly; icons and names grow as you zoom in
• The Whole World -- Zoom out past a continent to see Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Zephras Isle with every boat, zeppelin and airship between them
• Route From The Map -- Click a town, flight master, inn or bridge for its name and distance and route there, or click anywhere to route to that spot
• Pins -- Drop a pin, rename it, drag it, zoom to it and find it in the search; pins close together stack with a count
• Yards Or Metres -- Click the scale bar to switch, and the compass follows
• Your Coordinates -- Shown just above the scale bar

Settings

Everything lives in the game's own Settings, under Vamoose's Slipstream:

• Minimap Button -- Show or hide it
• Blizzard Waypoint Arrow -- Let the gold arrow follow your steps, or leave the compass to it
• Map Style -- Parchment (the default), Ley-line or Chalk
• Map Label Font -- The lettering on the map
• Place Names On The Map -- Name towns and places where they fit
• Map Width -- How many yards the map card shows across
• About -- Slipstream's version, our Discord and Buy Me a Coffee links, and the credits for the map's fonts

Quick Start

Type /vss to open Slipstream, search for where you want to go, and press GO. Left-click the minimap button to open Slipstream; right-click it for the map window or Settings.

Commands:

• /vss or /slipstream -- Open or close Slipstream
• /vss go <name> -- Start a route to a place by name
• /vss to <name> -- Print the route to a place in chat
• /vss stop -- End the current route
• /vss map -- Open the map window
• /vss hudreset -- Put the route HUD back where it started
