Description

When you think "Realistic Minecraft", thoughts of hair pulling and rage quits likely come to the top of your mind.

Other realism focused modpacks often take things to the extreme, either by artificially increasing difficulty (RLcraft), or by making things so incredibly realistic it's tedious to manage everything (TerraFirmaCraft)

This pack aims to add just enough realism to create a sense of satisfying immersion, but not so much that it makes the game more about realism than fun.

In addition, many vanilla+ themed mods have been added.

Unnecessary and un-fun grind are completely optional, with many more options for automation (simple automated crafting included).

Existing vanilla frustrations have been removed or replaced at every opportunity. (for example, removing phantoms from the overworld and putting them in the end)

Building and Redstone options have also been greatly expanded, without adding any new, unnecessarily complex systems.

Until next natural progression update, the modified .jar file found here is required for the modpack to work:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1A5xMEI-mhY-jHysU2EKTURc5JEiv81N5?usp=sharing

Just unzip it and place it in the mods folder.

Quick Start Guide:

After installing (either by creating instance from zip in multi-mc, or by using the twitch thing I guess):

1. Install optifine by downloading it and putting it in your mods folder

2. Install the Modified Natural Progressions Jar in your mods folder

 Priorities:

Upon creating your first survival world, you will have a slightly rushed first day. There are a couple of things that you need to do before nighttime comes, otherwise you will likely get into a death loop

- Dig a hole                (or build a house if you're really proactive)

- Get a light/heat source         (Temperature management is very important. At night in your hole it will get quite cold. Especially if you want to go mining)

- Get a water source in that hole         (You need to drink, and you'll get quite close to dying of thirst if you don't drink overnight)

Or

- Find/Craft a Bed (or sleeping bag) to pass the night.

How to gather starter items  (Note, if these recipes sound tedious, keep in mind that automated crafting becomes available as soon as you get redstone and lapis lazuli):

Wood:

1. When you spawn, you will not be able to punch trees. doing so will cause you to take damage. To get wood, you will need to start with a flint hatchet. this requires 3 flint and 1 stick.

- You can acquire flint either by gathering it directly from gravel, or by picking up stones from the ground and "knapping" them together. this is done by placing one pebble in your main hand, one in your off-hand, and right clicking until you've sharpened them into flint.

- Gathering sticks can be done either by picking them up from the ground, or by breaking tree leaves.

2. With your hatchet, chop down trees. You will want to strip the bark off the logs before mining them, because they need to be stripped before you can craft planks, and with the hatchet this cannot be done in the crafting table.

3. Craft planks. With the hatchet, or any axe, this comes out to one plank per stripped log.

4. Once you have a crafting table, craft a basic saw with 3 flint and 3 sticks. With a saw you can craft stripped logs, and craft 4 planks per log. Once you acquire Iron, a more durable saw will become available.

After this all crafting recipes are standard.

Some sort of automated crafting system for planks is highly recommended for continuous play.

5. Now that you have a regular axe, gathering wood is easy. Hold shift while breaking a log to chop down the entire tree. the leave follow soon after with fast leaf decay.

Stone:

Option 1 (the hard way): pick up enough pebbles to craft all your tools

Option 2: kill a couple animals with your hatchet, get a bone, Knapp it together with flint to get a bone shard, craft this together with two sticks to get a bone pickaxe.

Option 3: get just enough pebbles to craft a regular stone pickaxe (this can be done with any type of stone), go bonkers from there.

(note, until this can turned off via configs, vanilla stone will drop 4 pebbles, which can be crafted into cobblestone variants of all vanilla stone)

Torches:

Torches can be crafted even before you acquire coal or charcoal, using 1 tinder and 1 stick. You get tinder by putting 1 stick or 1 sapling into the crafting table.

-To light torches before you get Iron, use a flint and tinder, or a bow drill.

-The flint and tinder requires 1 flint and 1 tinder. the bow drill requires 1 tinder and 1 bow (String can be crafted from wool). Both of these rudimentary tools require multiple attempts to light the torches. Flint and steel only requires one

-Basic torches will burn out after a short time. Glowstone or blaze powder is required to craft infinitely burning torches.

Heat:

Here's a list of things that work, since by now you've already learned how to get them:

- Lit furnace

- Lit torch

- Lit campfire (normal crating recipe)

- Open fire (only available with flint and steel. flint/tinder and bow drill cannot light blocks)

- Lava (duh. you'll likely get too hot though)

- Standing in a 1x2 dirt hole and jumping up and down to generate body heat. This is probably more a body heat retention strategy though.

General Heat tips:

- Hot things in smaller spaces warm you up quicker.

- Some Liquids warm you up when you drink them, and some cool you down.

- Don't spend too long in the ocean or rivers if you're worried about freezing.

- Don't catch on fire.

Movement Tweaks:

Several mods have been included to improve and expand upon vanilla movement.

"GoProne"  adds a key that you can press to go into crawling mode. Default is 'c'

"Elenai dodge"  Press alt and an arrow key to dodge. I have it configured to ~1.8 blocks, and a 30 tick cooldown.

"Wall Jump"  When you jump facing a wall, hold shift to cling to the wall.

Next, turn your cursor in the direction you want to go and let go of shift for sick parkour.  (This must be done quickly, as you have a limited amount of time to cling. Letting go of shift while facing forward allows you to jump up to three block tall walls)

"Advanced Hook Launchers"  Many awesome hooks. Crafting has been made harder than default, and requires a visit to the nether now (for quartz)

To launch a hook, left click. to reel in yourself or the mob you hook, press right click (warning: reeling in a mob will pull you towards them as well)

To unhook a hook, press 'x' (default. I recommend shift, and it's a bit more natural to press. Might conflict with wall jump of course, but that situation seems rare to me)

To swing, simply move your player in the direction you want to go. Swinging across gaps requires that you hold forward, as the momentum from the drop/running speed is currently not enough.

Multiple hooks can be deployed at once, as long as they're in your hotbar.
