Talk to the other faction in Tongues, the shared language. Horde and Alliance players near you who run Proto Tongues understand every word; everyone else hears only lore-speak, the spoken common word. Needs Proto Core (the CurseForge app adds it).

Dev Note

• This works exactly as shown in the screenshots. Full words, no comprehension lost. This is not a translater, it's a working cross-faction codec. We can send anything, including item links. Inspect works but not in a UI-friendly way.
• I have tested this on common+orcish, limited testing on other languages. Untested on 08/10 patch.
• This does not use hidden addon channels, communities, battle.net or anything. The two screenshots contain the entire data required for this to work.
• I have deliberately kept lore-speak to add flavour, RP and a bit of drama. Some amount of information needs to be sent.
• The codec includes inbuilt error-checking and bit correction. Most of this is untested, but small errors in the languages should not be breaking it entirely.

• Last heard: who spoke, what they said and when, on the Proto Tongues tile (left-click the minimap button)
• Proto Home tile: switch Tongues, hidden coded lines and yell pings on or off in one click, or Talk

Talk across factions

• Say it to the other faction: type /pts and your message, or /pty to yell it
• They read it in chat as "[Tongues] [Name] says: …", in the /say or /yell colour
• Item, spell and enchant links come through as links
• Only those who know Tongues understand: everyone else hears lore-speak

Ping and inspect

• Right-click a player of the other faction: Ping shows their Proto addons and server, Inspect their gear and enchants
• Or type /proto tongues ping or /proto tongues inspect with your target

Made for roleplay

• Standing still? A Send button pops up while your lines wait, so you don't have to move
• Clean chat: you see their words, never the coded lines
• Lore-speak: to anyone else your lines sound like Warcraft words, not addon gibberish

Disclaimer: please use this at your own risk. Blizzard's policies no longer forbid talking to the other faction, and with Darnassian (shared by night elves and the Skyborne), Battle.net, communities and long-standing addons like Hermes, I feel this is fair game. Blizzard can and should patch this if they believe it goes against their game design. Please don't use it for an unfair advantage, abuse, harassment, win-trading or anything like it. Battlegrounds are untested: the game restricts addons' chat there, so it may not work.
