What's new

Terra Horizon (Forge) 0.1.1-beta

This update adds Traditional Chinese (zh_tw) support, unlocks all quests and fixes the title screen layout.

Added

  • Traditional Chinese (zh_tw) translation of the whole quest book (707 quests). English text is unchanged and is used for every other language.
  • The game now starts in your system language on first launch (LanguageReloadUnofficial). You can still change it in Options > Language.
  • Three Traditional Chinese translation resource packs are included and enabled: Traditional Chinese Translation Patch by KuriPaPa, ParaTranslationPack and ModsTranslationPack.
  • Traditional Chinese names for about 115 quest items and mobs that the translation packs do not cover, and for the Tips mod.
  • Traditional Chinese splash texts on the title screen.
  • New "Terra Horizon" advancement with its own advancement tab, granted the first time you join a world ("Welcome to Terra Horizon, Adventurer…"). Shows a toast and a chat message, and has built-in English text, so it also reads correctly in server logs and for players without the Terra Horizon resource pack.

Changed

  • Quests: no quest is locked any more. Every quest can be started and completed in any order, also before the quests it is connected to; the connecting lines stay as a suggested path. This uses one hidden helper quest that completes by itself a few seconds after you join a world.
  • Bosses chapter: every boss quest can now be done at any time; boss quests (including "Evil Wizard" in Arcane and "Maze Mother" in Aquamirae) no longer need the Tier I-IV milestones or any other quest first. Each Tier milestone now completes once all bosses of its tier are defeated and no longer blocks anything. "Boss Chapter Complete" now requires every boss quest directly (17 bosses) instead of a mix of bosses, Tier milestones and biomes. The Lich Prison, Champions' Graves and Decaying Kingdom quests no longer need a Tier milestone, and "Lord Soul" (Weapons) no longer requires the Tier III milestone.
  • Bosses of Mass Destruction, Cataclysm and Mowzie's Mobs chapters: boss kill quests no longer need the structure or summoning item quests before them. "Mass Destruction" and "Mowzie Master" now also require every boss of their chapter.
  • Removed the optional "Build a Landmark" quest (Mastery chapter).
  • Title screen: the splash text is now drawn in front of the Terra Horizon logo, at its bottom-right corner, instead of partly behind it. Only one splash text is shown at a time.
  • Title screen: the button rows now line up with the standard Forge rows, so the language button no longer covers the Forge version text in the bottom-left corner, and the Quark and Dungeon Configs buttons sit next to the right rows.
  • Traditional Chinese: quest, splash and tip texts were rewritten to read more naturally, and the pack now uses its official Chinese name 地元崛起 (short form 地元). Item, block and mob names and all numbers, requirements and key bindings are unchanged.
  • The pack no longer forces English in options.txt.
  • Distant Horizons no longer posts warning messages in chat when you join a world, and its built-in auto-updater is turned off. The pack now ships config/DistantHorizons.toml with only these options; Distant Horizons fills in all other settings with its defaults.

Fixed

  • Quests: milestone and chapter-summary quests (for example "Boss Chapter Complete" and "Terra Horizon Master") could be completed by just clicking the checkmark. All quests whose only task is a checkmark now count only after all the quests they are connected to are done (43 quests). They stay visible and are not drawn as locked; if you click the checkmark early, the quest completes by itself as soon as the last connected quest is done. All other quests can still be completed in any order. The Cataclysm "Burning Arena" quest, which also completed with a checkmark, now asks you to find the Burning Arena.
  • Traditional Chinese: the Starcatcher and Jellyfishing tips on the death and loading screens were still in English.

Notes

  • Existing worlds: milestone quests that were already claimed by clicking the checkmark stay completed.
  • Existing worlds: rewards already claimed from "Build a Landmark" are kept; the quest is no longer in the book.
  • Existing installs keep their current config files. If you already have config/DistantHorizons.toml, the chat warnings can still appear; you can turn them off in the Distant Horizons settings.
  • Existing installs keep their current language setting. Pick the language in Options > Language.
  • The translation packs only affect Traditional Chinese. Other languages look the same as before.
  • The Terra Horizon advancement comes from the th_welcome datapack in config/openloader/data. When updating, keep that folder; servers need it too. Existing players get the advancement once, the next time they join.
  • Quest progress is kept. Quests that were locked before become available a few seconds after you join the world.

Known issues

  • Some mod names, books and tooltips are still in English in Traditional Chinese, where neither the mod nor the translation packs have a translation.
  • A system set to Simplified Chinese starts in Simplified Chinese, which has no quest translation, so the quest book shows English.
  • Some Macaw's Bridges balcony items for Oh The Biomes You'll Go woods show a missing texture in the inventory.
  • This is a beta. Expect balance changes and bugs before the full release. Please report any problems you find.
