What's new

Echowood: A World That Remembers — 1.0 Changelog

  • Reworked and polished Echowood for its full 1.0 release, with a complete main story, two endings, and optional activities alongside the adventure.
  • Rebuilt corruption around visible infection that spreads through the environment, replacing the old reliance on recurring potion effects.
  • Added blighted terrain, stone, ores, logs, and leaves, including support for the pack’s modded forests and tree variants.
  • Gave the four corruption stages a stronger progression: subtle changes at first, rapidly darkening surroundings later, and an extreme final stage.
  • Rebalanced corruption thresholds to 350, 550, 750, and 1,200 blocks broken.
  • Changed infection to begin at scattered locations around the player instead of immediately surrounding each mined block.
  • Added faster leaf corruption during later stages so forests darken dramatically without speeding up ground corruption.
  • Made infected terrain apply harmful contact effects, with detection that also catches sprint-jumping across it.
  • Removed broad building and NPC safe zones; placing a block no longer makes nearby corruption disappear.
  • Limited stage 1–3 warnings to their initial stage announcements, while keeping repeated warnings for stage 4.
  • Added corruption-related hostile encounters and disabled the corruption system’s Husk spawns during stage 3 to make story conversations less disruptive.
  • Reworked Elira’s cure: new infection and spread stop, existing blighted terrain gradually recovers, and remaining infected blocks stay dangerous until restored.
  • Restored sound and particle effects to the cure.
  • Fixed corruption initialization, command registration, missing log textures, and related resource-loading problems.
  • Added automatic story quest markers with destination names and distance displays. Markers disappear on arrival and update as the story progresses.
  • Added marker support for return trips, recovered quest items, different training routes, and destinations in other dimensions, plus a command to restore a dismissed marker.
  • Repaired quest and dialogue availability, branching, hand-ins, and progression through the main story and both endings.
  • Updated early story dialogue to reflect the environmental corruption system and corrected spelling and grammar in the revised dialogue.
  • Reworked sword, magic, and archery training with more appropriate equipment, rewards, and explanations of how to use them.
  • Replaced training completion rewards with upgrades for the player’s chosen equipment.
  • Updated training dialogues, quest descriptions, and field notes with matching anvil instructions, and corrected field-note page formatting.
  • Replaced the archery route’s unsuitable hunt with a six-skeleton training task. Players return to Flora for the final conversation and reward.
  • Added automatic recovery for missing archery and final-boss quest definitions in loaded story worlds, preserving existing quest progress and reward claims.
  • Fixed recovery of the archery and final-boss objectives when their starting dialogues had already been read while the quest definitions were missing.
  • Changed the diamond chestplate quest to accept damaged and enchanted diamond chestplates.
  • Fixed Don’s dragon-bone quest and return marker. The sword reward is now awarded when reporting back to Don, with a clearer warning about the lightning dragon.
  • Fixed NPC behavior after the final story choice so the world reflects the ending.
  • Made the Soulstone accessible from a normal chest and verified that the Echo Shard, Frostvein Shard, and Embercore Ichor are also stored outside Lootr’s personal inventories.
  • Replaced the three placeholder starter quests with 22 quests across Welcome to Echowood and Chapter 1 — Survival.
  • Added modest starter rewards such as food, wool, string, and XP, without handing out wood, coal, iron, or other mined materials.
  • Added 40 optional quests across five further chapters, covering survival, farming, exploration, combat, crafting, and veteran challenges. The FTB quest book now contains 62 quests in seven chapters.
  • Fixed quest-book title formatting errors.
  • Replaced the Lycanites instant-kill script with spawn configuration changes, reducing targeted spawn routes by approximately 90% while retaining dungeons and boss content.
  • Extended the reduced-spawn configuration to Krake, Nymphs, and Tpumpkyn, and repaired missing overrides and duplicate automatic spawn routes, including Geonach and Vapula ore encounters.
  • Reduced stealing-pixie village generation in newly generated terrain.
  • Rebalanced Alex’s Mobs spawns for the pack’s dark fantasy setting while retaining the mod for IDAS compatibility.
  • Reduced the frequency of Mowzie’s Mobs danger searches on animals while retaining boss encounters and combat behavior.
  • Added an In Control hostile-mob cap of 45 and removed Xaero’s World Map while retaining the minimap.
  • Fixed the Oculus startup configuration issue and added a workaround for the intermittent KubeJS datapack-loading failure.
  • Added a custom Echowood loading screen and an animated main menu.
  • Prepared the supplied world for a fresh Survival start on day zero, with player inventories, statistics, advancements, and story/quest progress reset.
  • Restored 26 missing Lycanites configuration files and both the archery and final-boss quest definitions in the final release archive.
  • Added envirnomental mods and texturpacks.
