Goodwill: Reputation Road & Faction Stories
Goodwill shows the road to Exalted with any faction, starting from where your character stands today: what your bags and bank can hand in, the quests still open to you, the kills that still count, and what the next standing unlocks. Open the Argent Dawn, and it counts the scourgestones you carry and the reputation they're worth.
And the factions talk back. Reach a new standing and a voice from that faction tells you the next chapter of their story, a little more openly each time.
For Classic Era (Hardcore included) and World of Warcraft: Forever, in one download.
The road
Open a faction and its page starts from your standing now and shows the next one, with how far you still have to go. Then everything that gets you there:
- turn-ins counted against your bags and your bank: scourgestones, Timbermaw feathers, Zandalar coins, how many times you could hand them in, and who takes them,
- quests that earn reputation, only those your race and class can take, split into the ones open now and the ones that open at a later standing,
- kills that still count, zone by zone, with the standing at which each one stops giving reputation,
- what each standing unlocks: the items its quartermasters sell, recipes, mounts and tabards among them, and the quests it opens.
The road follows you as you play: finish a quest, loot an item or reach a standing, and Goodwill shows it a moment later. It lists only the factions your character can earn: a faction of the other side, or one that is closed to your race, stays out, and a faction you haven't met appears with your first gain of reputation with it.
The stories
Thirty-five factions have a voice of their own, and each standing you reach opens the next chapter of their story, signed by the one who tells it.
At the Timbermaw's door, Gorn One Eye has a single eye to spare for strangers who want his tunnel. In Blackrock Depths, Lokhtos Darkbargainer calls you an insect before he learns your name. Lord Jorach Ravenholdt wants to know who let you find his house. Silas Darkmoon has a ticket for you, and a promise he mostly keeps.
There is a chapter when you first meet them, one at each standing from Friendly to Exalted, and one more halfway through Revered. Each tells only what every player at that standing has seen, so it never spoils a quest line ahead of you. A new chapter is announced in chat and on a banner. The chapters of standings you had reached before installing Goodwill open without a banner.
The book
The Factions tab lists the factions by group: your side's capitals, the Argent Dawn, the Timbermaw and the other endgame factions, the Steamwheedle ports, the battleground factions, the Darkmoon Faire, Ravenholdt and more, each in its standing's colour. Its front page counts the factions at Exalted, the chapters opened and the factions with a voice, out of what your side can raise.
The Stories tab keeps each voiced faction's story so far, in order, with the day each chapter opened, and lists the chapters still to come by title and standing.
Achievements
The book keeps its own achievements: your first gain with a faction, the standings you reach, how many factions stand at Exalted, whole groups of them at Exalted and the stories you open. Each one earned comes with the game's fanfare and its own achievement alert (a switch in the settings turns the alert off), and the book remembers when and at what level. None asks Exalted with two factions that oppose each other. Those you had already deserved when you installed Goodwill are recorded quietly. The Achievements tab lists them all, or open it with /goodwill achievements.
Games and languages
Goodwill covers forty-two factions, and each game shows only its own. On Forever, the Skyborne's Windshapers and High Order have stories up to Friendly, as far as the game goes at launch. Forever's other new factions have their road now and their stories later.
Goodwill is in English, French, German and Spanish: on those clients every chapter and the whole interface are in your language, with the game's own names for factions, places, people and items. German and Spanish are first translations: corrections are welcome on GitHub. Both Spanish clients share the translation, each with its own game names. Other clients get the chapters and the interface in English, while factions, quests, people and items keep the names your client gives them.
Settings and commands
Open the book with /goodwill or the minimap button. The welcome page appears once per character and can be reopened with /goodwill welcome.
Settings are under Options > AddOns > Goodwill, through /goodwill settings or a right-click on the minimap button: the banner for a new chapter, the achievements' alert and sound, how long banners stay and the minimap button. Each character has its own. Copy another character's settings within the same game, or use /goodwill export and /goodwill import CODE.

Other addons
These share Goodwill's look and work independently:
- Hearthtale (Wago) writes a diary for your character as you play, with an epitaph when a Hardcore life ends.
- Lorekeeper's Codex (Wago) unlocks lore pages as you explore Azeroth and meet its people.
- Yonder (Wago) offers exploration riddles, rare hunts, a bestiary, an atlas and records of your fish and herbs.
- Second Wind (Wago) gives you a debrief after a close call or death.
- Mealbook (Wago) keeps a chef's cookbook that fills in as you learn to cook, and plans your road to 300.
- Palaver (Wago) puts quests and NPC conversations in a large panel beside the one you speak to, read and answered from the keyboard.
- Yours Truly (Wago) brings letters from the people whose quest chains you finished, waiting at the next mailbox.
Support
Goodwill is free, and will stay free. If a faction's road saved you an evening, or one of its voices made the grind worth it, you can say thanks with a coffee on Ko-fi: it helps the stories keep coming. Thank you.
