Lorekeeper's Codex
The lore of Azeroth, written for you as you explore. An archivist of the Explorers' League has left you a ledger: walk into a zone, meet a figure of legend, defeat a people's warriors or finish the right quest, and a new page of history is added to your codex.
For Classic Era (Hardcore, Season of Discovery), TBC Anniversary and World of Warcraft: Forever.
What's inside
- 335 original pages in 42 chapters: every zone of the original game, its places, figures, peoples and histories, from the Sundering to the gates of Ahn'Qiraj.
- Peoples and Powers: the Scourge, the Defias, the Dark Irons, the dragonflights, the troggs and some thirty more, met across the world.
- A foreword for your race, so a dwarf, an orc or one of the Forsaken each read the ledger as theirs. On Forever, the Skyborne have their own.
- Lore true to the era: drawn from Warcraft I to III, the original game's quests and books, and the novels published before Wrath of the Lich King. No spoilers from later expansions.
How it works
- Pages unlock on their own: entering a place, talking to (or targeting) someone, defeating creatures, completing quests, reaching a reputation.
- Each new page is announced in chat (a link that opens it) and by a slim banner at the top of the screen, with a sound.
- Each character keeps its own codex, and each page remembers when, at what level and where you found it.
- Tooltips of creatures that unlock a page say so.
The book
/codex, or the book by the minimap, opens it: chapters on the left, the page on parchment on the right, with links to related pages.- Search the pages you have found.
- Chapters fold and unfold, one by one or all at once.
- No spoilers: you only see the chapters you have opened and the pages you have found.
Achievements
A second tab in the book (/codex achievements): page milestones, feats (the legendary wanderers, the leaders of your side, the dungeons, the great powers at the end of the deepest lairs, a page in every chapter) and one for each chapter completed. Each remembers the day and the level you earned it.
Two packages
Each game has its own file: pick the one for yours (the CurseForge app does it for you).
- Classic: Classic Era, Hardcore, Season of Discovery, TBC Anniversary.
- Forever: World of Warcraft: Forever. Forever closes the combat log to addons, so pages that unlock on a kill also unlock when you target the creature.
/codex scan onrecords the places, creatures and quest texts you meet, to help write Forever's new chapters.
