What's new

TerraFirma: Rebirth 4.1.21 Release — Changelog

Release date: August 28, 2026 (Beijing time), exact time depends on CurseForge approval — global release. Where: CurseForge (client) · Server pack via Discord + Quark (China). Official servers: The US official 4.1.21 Release server opens at launch — no wipe, IP is built into the pack's multiplayer list. China server online as well. Community: https://discord.gg/Fc7v5EXmkK

This is the stable Release build, recommended for long-term survival worlds. Found a bug? Tell us on Discord.

Highlights

  • Balloon envelopes now use cloth, not wool. Crafting: 1 cloth + 2 sticks = 4 envelopes; deployer: 1 cloth + 1 stick = 6. Burlap, wool cloth and silk all work. Create white sails match (1 cloth + 1 stick + 1 andesite alloy = 4 sails). Jute farms are now the foundation of your airship industry.
  • Rubber deadlock broken. The spout now uses leather (copper casing + leather) instead of rubber — craftable in year one.
  • Vehicle freeze fixed. Flying/driving into unloaded chunks no longer permanently freezes chunk loading and strands your vehicle mid-air (dynamic-lights mod rolled back to the stable build).
  • Re-entry clamp. New in-house mod cosmo-return-clamp: deep-space re-entry landings are clamped to X ±39000 / Z ±20000 (matching the X ±40000 world border). Ship and crew land together — no more 300,000-block rescues.
  • Tool-swap upgrade fixed. New in-house mod tfc-ability-fix: Sophisticated Backpacks' tool swap now recognizes TFC metal tools (shovel for dirt, pick for stone, axe for logs; hammers count as pickaxes).
  • Kaleidoscope Tavern + our TFC compat — four TFC-climate grape colors, wild grapevines, trellises, grape juice and a full winemaking chain, with a brand-new 12-quest chapter.
  • Astikor carts (Redux + TFC compat) — animal-drawn logistics: hand carts, supply wagons, plows, reapers, seed drills. 5 new quests, fully localized.
  • Create: Tracks+ — track mounts, suspension tracks, drive wheels and the suspension key, fully translated, plus a new "Tracked Movement" quest in the Aeronautics chapter.
  • 17 tavern drinks redesigned — every drink now has a reason to exist (see below).
  • Quest book now in 4 languages — Chinese, English, Spanish and Russian (1,947 entries each, zero English left over in ES/RU).

Major mechanics & balance

  • Bronze system fix. Pure-lead bronze removed; leaded bronze is now a low-tin variant (Cu 88–92% + Sn 2–12% + Pb 0–10%). New arc furnace recipe: 9 copper + 1 lead = 10 bronze. Inferior ingots can't enter industrial alloy lines.
  • Andesite alloy shafts can now be forged on a tier-1 copper anvil (was tier 3) — Create progression opens up early.
  • Netherite armor restored: blue steel armor pieces + netherite ingot, same cost as before.
  • Sugarcane ethanol restored to 200 mB in the industrial fermenter (upstream had cut it to 80).
  • Cold Sweat eased again: 0–40 °C is the no-damage band, and temperature change rate was halved once more.
  • Tavern drink effects (quality-scaled): Beer = Strength · Cider = Absorption · Purple wines = Night Vision (duration scales) · Whiskeys = Nausea at low quality, Strength from Q3, Tipsy from Q5 · Vodka = Resistance · Rum = Tipsy + Bad Omen (pirate easter egg) · Sake = Slow Falling. Red wines (Regeneration) and white wines (Speed) unchanged.
  • Item vaults & silos can no longer be physicized — fixes a dupe where physicized vaults dropped twice.
  • TFC gravity blocks can't be placed on physics structures — dirt, grass, sand, gravel etc. are rejected with a red "This block cannot be physicized!" message.
  • Nether → Overworld teleport freeze fixed (only that direction is watched; arrivals beyond ±19500 are clamped to a safe border position; normal Overworld teleports unaffected).

Bug fixes

  • Biodiesel can now be bucketed or pumped into the burn chamber.
  • Rice (and other bowl foods) no longer eats your bowl — the bowl is returned.
  • All 301 cart parts (43 woods × 7 cart types) now have models, names and recipes; the missing supply wagon recipe is in.
  • Rennet texture fixed; AFC food shelves & hangers now work inside valid cellars.
  • Smart filter craftable again (brass nuggets obtainable); quest tasks that showed filter icons show real items again.
  • Redstone components craftable again: piston, dropper, dispenser, lever, tripwire hook, repeater, stone button, stone pressure plate, target block, lightning rod, redstone contact — materials aligned to TFC.
  • TFC copper sheet + wire cutters → Create copper sheet (fixes broken chains); crimson/warped stems (Beneath) work on the saw and cutting board.
  • Cuisine Delight spatulas/skillets can hang on tool racks.
  • Lecterns unified to vanilla: the ~36 TFC/AFC/Beneath wooden lecterns are hidden; new recipe = 4 any lumber + 1 any bookshelf. The wireless redstone controller works properly on the vanilla lectern (no more fake-book GUI); old TFC lecterns stay breakable with a retrieval hint.
  • "kubejs error find 1 / find 50" startup errors fixed.
  • Forced Unicode font on Latin-script clients fixed (classic font back; CJK unaffected).
  • Eratosthenes pole messages and Cosmonautics strings localized ("cannot enable hud outside of deep space" etc.).
  • "Unknown ingot" (botched-alloy result) tooltip now in all 4 languages; orange stained-glass arc furnace recipe uses 2 hematite powder.
  • Vegetable oil unified between IE squeezer and Electro Energetics work basin.
  • Goat/yak milk cheese path confirmed (rennet + burlap).
  • Greenhouse/cellar detection fixed on servers (including sealing bricks and vanilla greenhouse blocks).

New content

  • Field Guide Chapter 0 — "Reborn as a Caveman on Terra": every global pack change, beginner tutorial, JourneyMap & FTB Chunks how-tos, multiplayer rules, default keybinds, credits and version info, with pictures and clickable links.
  • Real World note (quest + guide page): the pack ships a real-world mod — by default you spawn at the real geographic coordinates of Beijing, China.
  • New Bronze-Age quest "Kiln & Firebox" with a community-contributed picture tutorial.
  • Main menu overhaul: stone-carved TERRAFIRMA / REBIRTH logo, reworked button layout, language & accessibility buttons restored, 9-scenery slideshow, server-hosting button, Wabbanode partner icon.
  • JourneyMap Shared Maps and Wabbanode Companion added.
  • FTB auto-backup interval raised to 48 h.
  • New "Terracotta-360 Guard" sweeper: clears dropped items every 2 hours with 60/30/10/5 s warnings.

Quest book & localization

  • Full Spanish & Russian quest translations (1,947 entries each); QQ/Tencent links in non-Chinese books replaced with clickable Discord invites.
  • Balloon quests rewritten for cloth envelopes; HOPG ingot quest rewritten (electrodes are pressed from powder + creosote; ingots can be crushed back).
  • Crucible quest: 9 regular copper nuggets + 1 regular tin nugget in a vessel = bronze (90:10); ore-piece melt values corrected (poor 10 / regular 20 / rich 35→30 mB... see in-game text).
  • Alloy quest explains the three bronzes and the arc furnace route; cheese quest notes wheels age automatically in a valid cellar (≤16 °C), no climate station needed.
  • Hand-cart quest era corrected; bone-needle quest notes hides need tanning; seed quest notes wild herbs need a knife, not a hoe.
  • Removed the outdated cotton/flax quest and the enchanting-table quest.
  • A bold 4-language warning in the intro chapter: do NOT install ScalableLux yourself — the startup warning is normal.

Known issues (not bugs — please don't re-report)

  • Netherite drill and knife stay disabled.
  • Dispenser bows/string acquisition unchanged.
  • Leather vanishing, cheese wheels, block-break rubber-banding, and hammers being consumed by some recipes are under investigation.
  • Cross-dimensional travel beyond ±19500 is unreachable (the price of the freeze fix); normal Overworld teleports are fine.
  • World border: X ±40000. Re-entry clamp: X ±39000 / Z ±20000.

From 3.4.1 to 4.1.21 — the journey so far

  • 3.4.1 was the finale of the 1.20.1 Forge era: hardcore TFC + Create + Immersive Engineering + MEK + AE survival.
  • 4.x is a full rebuild on 1.21.1 NeoForge: TFC 4.x, every KubeJS script rewritten, the quest book rebuilt chapter by chapter.
  • The endgame was redefined: Aeronautics & Cosmonautics — from your first jute-field hot-air balloon to the Moon. TFC Aeronautics ties flight into TFC metallurgy and farming; deep-sea compatibility makes shipbuilding a way of life.
  • Industry, TFC-ified: arc-furnace alloy lines, an electric grid, Create running on TFC materials, and an inferior-alloy system that makes botched crucibles dramatic but not fatal.
  • Life got richer: tavern winemaking, Chinese cuisine, horse-drawn logistics, tracked vehicles.
  • The pack went global: 4-language quest book, worldwide CurseForge release, official servers in China and the US.

Thanks for riding with us. See you on the Moon. 🌙
