What's new

TerraFirma Rebirth 2 · 1.0.0-release

Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge

The 1.21.1 NeoForge branch is now TerraFirma Rebirth 2. This release rebrands the pack and restarts versioning at 1.0.0 — it is the direct, save-compatible successor of 4.1.24-hotfix2. The 1.20.1 line continues as TerraFirma Rebirth Classic (3.2-release / community DLC 3.4.2-release), maintained separately.

This changelog covers everything from 4.1.21 → TerraFirma Rebirth 2 · 1.0.0 (released September 4, 2026).

🌕 TFCR2 1.0.0 — The Rebrand Release

Mod Changes

  • Voxy is now built in! Distant-terrain LOD rendering works out of the box on NeoForge through the Roxy translation layer, and is enabled by default. lod-server-support is bundled for servers. (Voxy by cortex, included under the author's modpack permission — Modrinth page)
  • PlayerRevive is back — bleed-out and revive your friends, with full Simplified Chinese localization added by the team.
  • Removed: Friendship and Create Aeronautics: FTB Chunks, together with their related quest content.

Quest Book & UI (EN / 中文 / ES / RU)

  • All version strings updated to the TerraFirma Rebirth 2 branding — quest book, in-game field guide, join message and main menu.
  • Voxy quest rewritten: built-in and on by default; low-end players can disable it in Settings > Video Settings.
  • Memory guidance updated: 8 GB+ recommended with Voxy on, 6 GB with Voxy off.
  • The superflat-world warning was removed — the underlying bug is fixed in the updated Journeymap TFC Integration (1.0.3).
  • New main menu logo: TERRAFIRMA REBIRTH II, same pixel-art style as before.

Notes

  • Saves from 4.1.24-hotfix2 load without issues.
  • Low-end / integrated-GPU players: see the optimization guide in the quest book's "Read Me First" chapter.

🔧 4.1.24-hotfix2 — Stability, verified on the official server

  • tfcr-fixes 1.7.5 → 1.7.7 (our in-house fix mod):
    • Fixed food stacks showing as rotten inside EMI, hiding their nutrition values — now fully covered, including sandwiches.
    • Hardened the physics entity query against NaN/invalid hitboxes: a corrupted vehicle hitbox could hang the whole server watchdog — now guarded.
    • TFC Real World's sun-position trigonometry is now cached per tick instead of recomputed every frame.
  • Packaging fix: removed a leftover manifest reference that made launchers re-download the removed TFC Crude Crucible.

🔧 4.1.24 Hotfix — Performance, verified by profiling

We chased down the "high average FPS but random stutter" reports with spark profiles from affected players, and fixed two confirmed render-thread black holes. If you were getting 100+ FPS with periodic drops to 10–20, this hotfix is for you.

Performance (tfcr-fixes 1.7.1 → 1.7.4, our in-house fix mod)

  • Sky & fog colour sampling was running full solar-geometry math ~250 times per frame — including TFC Real World's EqualEarth map projection (StrictMath trig). Profiled at 6.7% of the render thread; now memoized per tick on a 4-block grid (error < 0.1°C, zero gameplay impact). This was the main "standing still and still stuttering" culprit.
  • Cosmonautics' star plasma texture was recomputing noise every frame — throttled. Player-verified: 5.6% → 0.13% of the render thread.
  • TFC's solar day-time bridge memoized per frame (smaller win, ~0.2%).
  • Fixed a dedicated-server crash (ClassCastException) when Cold Sweat queried the temperature of Create fluid pipes.

Fixes & Tweaks

  • CC:Tweaked upgrades are all craftable now: diamond-tool turtle upgrades (normal & advanced), our red/blue steel turtle tools, and pocket computers with pre-installed upgrades (including the ender wireless variant) — they shared one item ID with different NBT and had no recipe at all.
  • TFC magma blocks now feed IE's thermoelectric generator (they conducted no heat before).
  • Creosote and biodiesel work as TFC lamp fuel, including red & blue steel lamps.
  • Dough mixing reworked (restores 3.4.2-era automation): basin + flour + 100 mB water = 1 dough, a true fluid recipe — the wooden bucket is never consumed. FirmaLife bread dough: flour + 100 mB yeast starter + a sweetener = 2 dough (hand-crafting still yields more). Bonus: snow blocks + water can now be mixed into ice, cutting the soul-lantern blue-ice chain from 2916 snowballs to 324.
  • Levitite mixture can be crystallized: pour it from a wooden bucket next to a TFC magma block — it now acts as the catalyzer (previously the fluid just evaporated).
  • Red & blue steel armor now insulate (Cold Sweat): red steel resists heat, blue steel resists cold. The space helmet's extreme cold protection is unchanged.
  • TFC pot & barrel GUI "?" buttons work again — they were dead click areas left over from JEI; they now open the matching EMI recipe category.
  • Friendship: teammate revive cooldown set to 30 minutes.
  • sable physics substeps restored to the default 2 — vehicle stability beats the small idle saving from 4.1.23.
  • Localization: black/blue/red steel drill heads show their correct names (TFC × IE crossover), plus assorted tooltip fixes.

✨ 4.1.24 — Enchanting, Computers & the Moon, polished

New Content

  • Enchanting comes to TFC: craft an enchanting table from a book, red wool, obsidian and wrought iron plates. Any TFC wooden bookshelf powers it — as long as it holds books: +0.5 power per stored book, a full 6-book shelf equals 3 vanilla shelves, 5 full shelves max out the table. Crushed gem powders work as enchanting fuel (lapis still works too).
  • Five exclusive enchantments: Piercing / Crushing / Slashing Protection (armor, mutually exclusive, 5 levels each), Slow Aspect (weapon, slows your target) and Hunting (weapon, bonus damage vs predators).
  • All TFC metal gear is now enchantable — copper, bronzes, wrought iron, steel, black steel, red & blue steel; red and blue steel have the best affinity.
  • Mining ore now drops XP — richer ore grades drop more.
  • New mod CC:Sable: computers can read your airship's live status out of the box via four built-in aeronautics APIs.
  • New quest-book guide for the enchanting table (EN / 中文 / ES / RU).

Fixes & Tweaks

  • Fixed a serious item-duplication exploit involving Create bearings and TFC chests (verified on the official server).
  • Fixed kinetic conversion bearings occasionally outputting runaway force (rotation clamped to ±256 RPM).
  • Fixed food showing as rotten in EMI, hiding its nutrition values.
  • Fixed ArborFirmaCraft items, barrels and more being unsearchable in EMI.
  • Hidden woodencog's unfinished placeholder items (the purple-black cubes) from EMI.
  • Peanut butter jars (including lidded ones) now fit on canning racks and work in sandwiches.
  • Aeronautics structure tracking range increased 320 → 1024, so physical structures no longer vanish at close range.
  • aeroworks rolled back to 1.4.2 — gyroscopes behave like the old version again (stable as soon as powered).
  • Fixed TFC wooden bookshelves not powering the enchanting table (root cause: TFC's internal block extension bypassed the vanilla tag check entirely).
  • Fixed andesite alloy getting stuck inside fire ingot molds — the missing casting recipe has been added, you can extract it now.
  • Aluminum melting point lowered 1740°C → 1550°C: the old value sat above what a bellows-blown forge can reliably reach AND above the 1600°C heat-bar cap, so aluminum was practically unsmeltable. Now just pump the bellows. The Bauxite quest explains the smelting step in all four languages.
  • Fixed two quest-book entries (CC:Sable, Gyroscope) whose text never displayed.

Mod Changes

  • Added: CC:Sable (computers × aeronautics).
  • Re-added: sablecollisiondamage (vehicle collision damage), now resolved from CurseForge.
  • Removed: TFC Crude Crucible.
  • Rolled back: aeroworks 1.5.0 → 1.4.2.

🚀 4.1.23 — The Performance Release

We profiled the pack with spark and fixed several confirmed performance black holes — "high average FPS but periodic stutter" should be noticeably better.

Performance

  • tfcr-fixes (our own fix mod) updated to 1.5.1, adding two render-thread optimizations:
    • Cosmonautics' star plasma texture was recomputing noise every frame (~20% of the render thread) — now throttled to once per 0.1s, no visible difference
    • Cold Sweat's thirst HUD was raycasting blocks around you every frame (~21% of the render thread) — now cached for 0.5s
  • sable physics engine idle stepping halved (2 → 1 substep per tick): the physics engine was running at full speed even in a fresh world with zero vehicles.
  • New optimization mods: OptiCore, Liubai, RandomOptimization.
  • The harmless scalablelux dependency warning on startup is now filtered (still visible in logs).

Major Fixes

  • EMI item index fixed — the root cause of a whole family of reports: EMI shipped with its default "creative tabs only" index, so every item not present in a creative tab — all ArborFirmaCraft items, TFC logs/saplings, molds and more — was completely unsearchable. The index now covers the full item registry (same behavior as JEI). "EMI can't find X" should be gone for good.
  • Moon / deep space temperature (second fix, now actually enforced): the configured -50°C Moon / -273°C deep space never took effect due to a config-load-timing bug inside Cold Sweat itself (players measured a constant 0°C). tfcr-fixes now hard-forces these temperatures.
  • Space helmet now insulates against cold: wearing it keeps your body temperature stable on the Moon (-50°C) and in deep space (near absolute zero). Mandatory EVA gear — recipe stays endgame-tier (4 blue steel sheets + titanium alloy plate).
  • Arc furnace glass recipes fully repaired: lenses, TFC glass bottles, tavern bottles, reinforced glass, goblets and orange stained glass all produce correctly again.
  • Treated wood mixing fixed: wooden bucket + creosote + lumber now yields 8 treated planks (FirmaLife greenhouse wood recipes unaffected).
  • Item vault duplication after physicalization blocked on both physicalization paths.
  • CarryOn x-ray exploit with TFC thatch beds fixed (thatch bed blacklisted).
  • Deep space time scale now defaults to 2×.
  • Aeronautics blueprint screen flickering fixed (FancyMenu compat).
  • Barrel cheese-cloth recipe correctly labeled "make cream" instead of "wash cheese cloth".
  • Tavern cookware racks now accept the spatula (Kaleidoscope Cookery) and skillet (Farmer's Delight).
  • Linked controller turned into a "book" on vanilla lecterns: a bad item tag had marked the controller as lectern book material, so the vanilla lectern swallowed it and Create's conversion never ran. Tag removed — ground lecterns convert and remote-control properly now.
  • All 7 ArborFirmaCraft fluid buckets (latex, maple sap/syrup, birch sap/syrup...) retextured to TFC wooden-bucket style, keeping each fluid's color for recognition.
  • Wooden Cog generator/transformer purple-black blocks fixed (missing blockstates & item models), plus full Simplified Chinese localization for Wooden Cog.
  • The EMI accelerator's stale local cache no longer ships with the pack.

Quest Book & Guide (all 4 languages)

  • The "Moon Landing" finale quest is back in the Cosmonautics chapter (its definition had been lost, leaving only translation text): bring home 16 lunar regolith, earn 30 XP levels and celebratory fireworks.
  • Space suit quest now explains the helmet's cold protection.
  • TFC Field Guide: new "Tapping & Tree Sap" entry (latex tapping conditions and yields for rubber fig, rubber tree, kapok, sweet birch).
  • New worlds default to a ±42,000 world border centered on 0,0 (existing saves unaffected).
  • Cosmonautics chapter tutorials fully expanded: titanium, titanium alloy, rocket engines (all four cycle modes with thrust reference figures, pre-ignition checklist), solid boosters (mount in symmetric pairs!), stage separation, copper mobility gear, space suit, Moon landing.
  • Quest book version string updated; outdated startup-warning text removed.

Second Wave Mods (September 1st)

  • CC: Tweaked + CCC: Bridge — every recipe reworked onto TFC materials (smooth stone tag, TFC workbench tag, ghast tear instead of eye of ender, red/blue steel turtle tools). 10 new tutorial quests in the "handy gadgets" chapter, including a deep Cosmonautics crossover: a flight computer that programs your rocket engine (setThrust, setGimbal) — your automated orbit program starts here.
  • Friendship (replaces PlayerRevive) — bond with flowers, Z-key panel, revive downed teammates at friendship level 4. Optional tutorial quest in the last chapter. (Removed again in TFCR2 1.0.0 — PlayerRevive is back.)
  • Kaleidoscope Contraption — tavern blocks (pots, steamers, cutting boards, brewing barrels, taps, bar stools) can now ride Aeronautics contraptions.
  • 0Pack2Reload & Gnetum — performance helpers.

  • Fixed a Sophisticated Backpacks script error under 1.21.1.

🎈 4.1.21 — The Global Stable Release

Released August 28, 2026 — the stable build recommended for long-term survival worlds.

Highlights

  • Balloon envelopes now use cloth, not wool. Crafting: 1 cloth + 2 sticks = 4 envelopes; deployer: 1 cloth + 1 stick = 6. Burlap, wool cloth and silk all work. Create white sails match. Jute farms are now the foundation of your airship industry.
  • Rubber deadlock broken. The spout now uses leather instead of rubber — craftable in year one.
  • Vehicle freeze fixed. Flying/driving into unloaded chunks no longer permanently freezes chunk loading (dynamic-lights mod rolled back to the stable build).
  • Re-entry clamp. New in-house mod cosmo-return-clamp: deep-space re-entry landings are clamped to X ±39000 / Z ±20000. Ship and crew land together — no more 300,000-block rescues.
  • Tool-swap upgrade fixed. New in-house mod tfc-ability-fix: Sophisticated Backpacks' tool swap now recognizes TFC metal tools.
  • Kaleidoscope Tavern + our TFC compat — four TFC-climate grape colors, wild grapevines, trellises, grape juice and a full winemaking chain, with a brand-new 12-quest chapter.
  • Astikor carts (Redux + TFC compat) — animal-drawn logistics: hand carts, supply wagons, plows, reapers, seed drills. 5 new quests, fully localized.
  • Create: Tracks+ — track mounts, suspension tracks, drive wheels and the suspension key, fully translated, plus a new "Tracked Movement" quest.
  • 17 tavern drinks redesigned — every drink now has a reason to exist (quality-scaled effects: Beer = Strength, Cider = Absorption, Purple wines = Night Vision, Whiskeys scale from Nausea to Tipsy, Vodka = Resistance, Rum = Tipsy + Bad Omen, Sake = Slow Falling...).
  • Quest book now in 4 languages — Chinese, English, Spanish and Russian (1,947 entries each, zero English left over in ES/RU).

Major Mechanics & Balance

  • Bronze system fix. Pure-lead bronze removed; leaded bronze is now a low-tin variant. New arc furnace recipe: 9 copper + 1 lead = 10 bronze. Inferior ingots can't enter industrial alloy lines.
