What's new
CSMC Modpack — Complete Gameplay Overview
The overall experience is much closer to a fantasy action-RPG with dangerous exploration, magic, boss fights, medieval weapons, and dungeon crawling than traditional Minecraft survival.
A pack where players can build a home base, explore a dangerous world, find powerful gear, learn magic, fight enormous enemies, and tackle increasingly challenging structures together. The main attraction is the combination of Epic Fight, Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks, Ice and Fire, and the dungeon mods.
1. What playing this modpack will feel like
Phase 1 — Survive and gear up
You'll start with familiar Minecraft survival, but hostile encounters and exploration will be more consequential. You'll gather materials, craft equipment, explore structures, and build a secure base. Sophisticated Backpacks and Waystones make longer expeditions more manageable.Phase 2 — Develop your combat style
Epic Fight adds more deliberate, animated melee combat. Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks introduces spellcasting, while Simply Swords, Blades of Majestica, and the other combat add-ons expand the weapon choices. You can work toward a melee-focused, spell-focused, or mixed fighting style.Phase 3 — Explore dangerous territory
Alex's Caves, Alex's Mobs, The Twilight Forest, Sky Villages, and the dungeon mods give you reasons to leave your base. Expect new creatures, unusual environments, hidden loot, and places to investigate beyond ordinary caves and villages.Phase 4 — Take on major threats
Ice and Fire dragons, dungeon encounters, stronger mobs, and powerful equipment can give your group long-term goals. The combination of bosses, magic, and animated combat is the foundation for the pack's action-RPG feel. These are the intended gameplay stages rather than a fixed questline: your export does not show a dedicated progression or quest system that forces players to follow this order.
2. The major gameplay mods
These are the mods that most strongly determine what players will actually do in the world.
Epic Fight and its add-ons
Reworks melee combat around animated attacks, weapon movesets, timing, and more deliberate engagements. Rather than simply clicking rapidly, players need to pay attention to attack animations, positioning, and enemy openings.

Epic Dungeons 'n Combat
Experience: closer to a third-person action RPG than vanilla Minecraft combat. Exact moves and compatibility depend on the installed versions and equipment.
Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks
Adds a fantasy magic system featuring spellbooks, magical equipment, spellcasting, and offensive and defensive abilities.
Its supporting mods include Iron's Lib, the Dungeons and Combat compatibility add-on, and the Epic Fight spellcasting integrations.
Experience: you can develop a spell-oriented playstyle rather than relying exclusively on swords and bows. Magic also provides an additional dimension to group combat.
Ice and Fire: Dragons
Adds dragons and other mythological creatures, including dangerous encounters that can turn exploration into a serious combat challenge.
The associated animated and emissive resource pack enhances the appearance of supported creatures.
Experience: a world that feels inhabited by dangerous fantasy wildlife. Dragons can become major encounters and long-term targets, rather than just another ordinary mob.
When Dungeons Arise and Dungeons and Combat
When Dungeons Arise adds large, elaborate structures to explore. Dungeons and Combat and its compatibility add-ons aim to bring combat-oriented dungeon content into the mix.
Epic Dungeons 'n Combat specifically combines the combat and magic systems with dungeon encounters.
Experience: expedition-style gameplay with the potential for dangerous rooms, valuable loot, and difficult fights. The exact structure layouts and rewards depend on the mods' configuration.
The Twilight Forest
Adds a separate fantasy dimension with its own environments, structures, creatures, and boss-oriented adventure progression.
Experience: one of the strongest sources of structured exploration. It gives your group an adventure destination that feels distinct from the normal Overworld.
Alex's Caves and Alex's Mobs
Alex's Caves adds specialized underground biomes and encounters, while Alex's Mobs broadens the world's creature variety.
Experience: cave exploration becomes more than mining for ores. You'll have new environments and creatures to discover, with more variety in the world.

3. How the world will look and sound
Shaders and lighting
The export lists Solas Shader, Super Duper Vanilla Shaders, Complementary Shaders — Reimagined, and Oculus. Oculus provides shader support on Forge; the shader packs are alternatives to configure, not necessarily effects that run simultaneously.
Expect the potential for improved lighting, shadows, water, and atmosphere, depending on which shader is selected and its settings.
Animated creatures and combat
Fresh Animations, Fresh Animations: Extensions, Entity Model Features, Entity Texture Features, and mob animation compatibility packs enhance supported mob models and textures.
Epic Fight and its animation add-ons affect combat presentation, while Eating Animation and Animated Furnaces improve smaller visual details.
Textures and environmental details
Faithless, Stay True, Visible Ores, Gray's Mob Overhaul, Arcle's Medieval Containers, Fresh Waystones Texture, and the Iron's Spells 3D weapons pack customize different parts of the visual experience.
Pretty Rain, Alternative Rain Sounds, and the associated visual options add atmospheric touches.
Visual setup recommendations
-
Choose one main shader to start with. Complementary Reimagined is a reasonable first choice if your hardware supports it.
-
Enable the compatible Fresh Animations and entity feature packs together, following their load-order requirements.
-
Test Faithless and Stay True together carefully. Both can change textures, so their priority in the resource-pack list determines which assets win when they overlap.
-
Treat Visible Ores as an optional convenience pack, especially if you want exploration and resource discovery to remain challenging.
-
Check the pack's configured defaults before adding any further resource packs or shaders.
The pack also includes Embeddium, ImmediatelyFast, Entity Culling, ModernFix, FerriteCore, Canary, and Smooth Chunk Save. These aim to improve rendering, memory use, game logic, or chunk-saving performance. They can help, but they cannot guarantee high FPS or eliminate lag caused by world generation and large structures.
