Description

Scene

Scene is made for roleplayers in busy places. It cuts the noise of local chat and lets you follow individual scenes: the people you are actually talking to, in their own tab, with everything else kept in Nearby.

What it does

  • Nearby shows all the /say, emotes and yells you receive, with names in class colours and emotes in orange.
  • Scenes are tabs you create for a conversation. Add the people in it and the tab shows only them and you. You can run several scenes at once, and each has its own colour.
  • Spotlight one person in a scene with a click to read only their lines for a while.
  • Search the view you have open. Memories save a scene's conversation so you can read or copy it later.
  • Alerts play a short sound when someone says your name, your Total RP 3 name or a word you choose, or aims an emote at you.
  • Quick Look shows the last lines from the player you select, or stays open as its own small window. Tavern mood shows the game's tipsy and sobering-up lines. OOC lines like (( this )) are dimmed or hidden.
  • Eyes on you shows in the status row who has you targeted; click a name to target them back. Needs friendly nameplates on to see everyone.

Getting started

  1. Type /scene or click the minimap button.
  2. Click a name in Nearby to create your first scene around that person, or select a player and press + Add to scene.
  3. Right-click a scene tab to rename, reorder, save or delete it. The lock icon in the corner frees a window to be moved. Settings are under Options > AddOns > Scene.

Good to know

  • Scene shows chat your client already receives, so people still need to be in range. It sends nothing on its own; the optional Type in Scene row sends what you type as a normal /say or /emote.
  • Blizzard's chat restrictions in dungeons, raids and PvP are respected: Scene says so and resumes afterwards.
  • The last 500 lines are kept per character between reloads (Keep history, can be turned off). Only Blizzard's public addon API, no libraries.
  • Still early: things may move around, and feedback is welcome in the comments.
