Description
HunterPetFinder
Know exactly which beast to tame, where it lives, and how far away it is.
HunterPetFinder is a hunter pet companion for WoW Forever. Pick a pet ability and rank, and HunterPetFinder recommends the best beast to tame for your level. It marks every spawn point on your map, sets a waypoint to the nearest one, and tells you when you've found it.
Open it with /hpf or the minimap button.
Features
Find the right beast
- By ability: choose an ability (Bite, Claw, Dash, Furious Howl and more), then a rank. HunterPetFinder lists every beast that teaches it and highlights the best one for your level without going over.
- By family / look: browse by family, search by name or zone, and see a rotating 3D model preview of any beast before you go and tame it.
- Attack speed shown for every beast, with faster-than-normal pets highlighted in blue (hello, Broken Tooth).
- Optional filters for dungeon beasts and ignoring your level.
Track it down
- Track best or Track nearest. Track nearest compares every known spawn of every beast in the list with where you're standing, across zone borders, and picks the closest.
- Orange spawn stars on the world map, plus a waypoint to the nearest spawn.
- Live distance on screen while tracking (e.g. "Mottled Boar 85 yds (Durotar)"). It's movable and can be hidden.
- "Found your target beast!" alert and sound when you target or mouse over it.
- HunterPetFinder learns spots you see beasts at, as backup pins for beasts with no spawn data.
- Auto-untrack after you tame it.
Plan your upgrades
- HunterPetFinder remembers which ranks you already know, per character. It reads them from your Beast Training window, your pets' spellbooks and "You have learned…" messages, and you can right-click any rank to tick it yourself.
- Abilities with a better rank you can get now are marked with a green +rank.
- Upgrade hints list the top upgrades for your level with the nearest beast and distance. /hpf next prints the full list.
- Level-up alert: when you level up and a new pet ability rank becomes available to tame, a message pops up in the middle of your screen (with a sound) and chat names the nearest beast that teaches it. Pick its sound with
/hpf levelsound.
Discover new beasts
- WoW Forever has beasts that aren't in any database yet. Mouse over a tameable beast that's missing, and HunterPetFinder adds it to your family/look list straight away. That includes its family, level, zone, 3D model preview and the spot you found it, so you can track it down again later. Great if you're after a particular look, whatever it teaches.
- Tame it to find out what it teaches. HunterPetFinder reads the new pet's spellbook and records its abilities, and the beast then appears in the ability lists too. You can abandon the pet afterwards.
- Your finds are marked your find and work with Track and Track nearest like any other beast.
- Every colour counts. Some beasts come in more than one colour under the same name and level. HunterPetFinder notices each look you see and gives it its own row and model preview in the family/look tab. Target one and type
/hpf color Blackto name that look. The game picks the preview colour at random, so click Reroll until it's right, then Save look, and that row always shows that colour. - You can also record abilities by hand: target the beast and type
/hpf add Bite 4. - Scouting with Eagle Eye: beasts you spot through Eagle Eye are saved with the zone you're in (the game only shows units in your own zone), not the spot you're standing on. If you know exactly where one was, open the world map and Alt-click it to save the spot too.
/hpf marklists the beasts still without a spot. /hpf unknownlists the finds you haven't tamed yet, and/hpf exportopens all your discoveries as text you can copy and share.
Rares and last seen
- HunterPetFinder notes when you last saw each beast, whether it's a rare, and when you last found it dead. This helps you time rare spawns like Bjarn, Ol' Sooty or Lupos.
Minimap button

Tips
- Beast Training only lists what your current pet can learn. Open it once with each of your pets so HunterPetFinder learns all your ranks, and right-click any others you know.
- Inside dungeons the game hides creature names from addons, so the "found" alert and learned spots only work outdoors.
Notes
- Built for WoW Forever (
## Interface: 16001, 120000). - Trainer-only abilities and abilities with no known taming source are not listed.
- Attack speeds come from original 1.12 data and may differ slightly on Forever.
- Includes the new Zephras Isle beasts (12 so far, including Prideclaw, Vuldren, Ursera bears, Galestriders, Windsong Crawler and Shadowgale Shriekling), with spawn points and named colours.
