Hearsay

Hearsay records chat and whispers for all your characters in one searchable window, and forwards messages between your characters while they are online, across accounts.

Supports WoW: Forever and TBC Anniversary. Available in English and German.

Chat history

• Stores guild, officer, party, raid, instance, say, yell and emote messages and whisper conversations for each character. /he opens the window.
• Shows whispers from all characters in one list. Conversations of other characters are labelled with the character that received them.
• Searches all characters and channels simultaneously. The list on the left shows each channel and conversation with matches and its match count.
• Narrows a search by sender, channel and age: from:name, in:guild (or in:whispers) and days:7, alone or with words.
• Marks whisper conversations with a whisper you have not opened or answered, and channels with a mention you have not opened, in the window and on the minimap button. Optional.
• Copies any channel or conversation as text.
• Makes web addresses in chat clickable. Clicking one opens it in a box for copying.
• Restores the last 20 messages to the chat frame after a login or reload.
• Lists whispers, mentions and alerts from other characters received while AFK when you return.
• Keeps 1,000 messages per channel or conversation and 20,000 in total by default. Both limits are adjustable.

Forwarding between characters

• Characters on different accounts with the same code connect while both are online, on the same realm.
• Forwards whispers, party, raid and instance, and guild and officer messages by default. Say, yell and emotes are optional.
• Forwards new mail, group and guild invites, summons, trades, duels, ready checks, resurrections and battleground queues as alerts. Entering combat is optional.
• Shows forwarded messages in the chat frame prefixed with "[via Name]", and in the window under the sending character.
• When characters on two accounts are online at the same time, each sends the other the stored messages the other lacks, for every character it holds and for the types of chat set to forward. Duplicates are skipped.
• Encrypts all forwarded data with the code.

Replying

• The box under a whisper conversation sends a whisper from the character you are playing.
• The box under guild, officer, party, raid, instance or say of the character you are playing sends a message to that channel.
• Opens any channel or conversation in a separate window. The window's position and size are saved.
• Plays a sound, flashes the game's taskbar icon and shows the message's time in gold when a guild, group, say or yell message contains your character's first name or a keyword you set.
• Watches Trade, LookingForGroup and the other public channels for words you set. A matching message is stored under Watched words, plays the mention sound and is forwarded to your other characters as an alert. Other messages in those channels are not stored.

Filters

• Hides messages that match a filter from the window, search, forwarding and the AFK list. Hidden messages stay stored; turning the filter off or deleting it shows them again.
• Hides repeated messages: the same text from the same sender in the same channel within 1, 5 or 15 minutes or 1 hour.
• Hides messages containing words or phrases from a comma-separated list, in any case.
• Hides messages matching a regular expression, with an option to match case.
• Applies each filter to the channels selected for it: whispers, party, raid and instance, guild and officer, say and yell.
• Hides a filter's messages in the chat frame too, if set.
• Shows the received messages in a filter's channels while it is edited, and marks the ones it hides.
• Adds presets for repeated messages, group-finding posts, trade adverts, web addresses and messages in capitals.
• Never hides messages your character sent.

Commands

• /he or /hearsay: open or close the window.
• /he minimap: show or hide the minimap button.

Shared code

The code belongs to the AltLink library, which Hearsay includes. Other addons that use AltLink share the same code.
