Hardcore Damage Meter
World of Warcraft Classic Era / Hardcore · Interface 11509
A lightweight, fully customizable combat meter built specifically for World of Warcraft Classic Era / Hardcore, with Damage Done, Damage Taken, Healing, pet-aware aggregation, encounter history, target filtering, detailed ability breakdowns, multiple independent meter windows, profiles, and a live in-game Designer.
Hardcore Combat Tracking
Damage Done: Track effective outgoing damage for the current encounter, the last completed encounter, Overall, or any of the last 10 completed combats. Overkill is excluded by default and can be included when desired.
Damage Taken: Review incoming damage using the same encounter and target-filtering system as Damage Done.
Healing: Track effective healing with overhealing excluded by default, with an option to include it. Healing enriches an existing damage-anchored encounter and does not create standalone zero-damage history entries.
Encounter History: Hardcore Damage Meter keeps a bounded history of the last 10 completed encounters. Historical selection uses stable encounter IDs so a selected fight does not shift when newer combats are added.
Multi-Enemy Filtering: For encounters with multiple enemies, view All Enemies or filter the selected combat to an individual target. Player totals, percentages, DPS, and ability breakdowns update to match the selected enemy.
Players, Pets, and Ranking
Player bars support Classic-safe class coloring and combatant names remain left aligned.
Pet ownership is tracked for player, party, raid, and summoned pets. Overall aggregation keeps the same named pet rolled together across repeated summons instead of splitting it into separate Overall entries when the pet GUID changes.
Five pet presentation modes are available:
Merged into Owner
Owner + Indented Pet
Pet Only
Owner Only
Merged + Pet Detail in Hover / Details
Optional brief grayscale rank-change feedback makes position changes visible without adding a permanent animation loop.
Ability Breakdown
Hover a combatant row for a quick proportional ability breakdown showing:
spell or attack icon;
ability name;
total contribution;
percentage;
hit count.
Click a combatant for a persistent detailed breakdown.
Enemy-specific breakdowns respect the currently selected combat and target.
Multiple Meter Windows
Create up to 10 independent meter windows.
Each window can have its own:
Damage Done, Damage Taken, or Healing view;
Current / Last / Overall / historical encounter selection;
enemy filter;
position;
size;
scale;
visibility;
lock state;
header behavior.
New windows can be created as:
Damage Done;
Damage Taken;
Healing;
Duplicate Current.
The Main window is protected from deletion.
Header Controls
Each meter window can independently show or hide:
title;
metric / encounter summary;
total;
duration;
toolbar.
Locked windows can optionally auto-hide the toolbar until the header is hovered.
The compact toolbar uses HDM-drawn grayscale icons for configuration, combat selection, metric selection, window creation/removal, and lock state.
Live Designer
Open the Designer with:
/hdm config
Designer areas:
Appearance
Layout
Data
Controls
Profiles
The Designer uses the shared Hardcore graphite-and-gold visual language and provides direct live preview feedback.
Appearance
Appearance controls are organized into:
Window & Frame
Bars & Rows
Text
Media
Colors and opacity are controlled independently for Classic Era compatibility.
When SharedMedia is installed, additional fonts and status-bar textures are discovered automatically while safe built-in fallbacks remain available.
TEST MODE
The Live Design Preview includes isolated test scenarios for:
repeated rank changes;
10-row stress testing;
long player names;
pet presentation;
Damage Taken;
Healing;
multi-enemy encounters;
narrow-window layouts;
transparent/minimal layouts;
header and toolbar behavior.
Test data is isolated from actual combat capture and history.
Profiles and Recovery
Hardcore Damage Meter includes a protected Master profile plus user-created profiles.
You can:
create;
duplicate;
activate;
rename;
delete user profiles.
Existing saved profiles are preserved across addon updates and are not silently replaced simply because factory defaults change.
An internal immutable Factory Master provides the reset baseline. You can reset the full active profile or reset individual Designer pages without affecting unrelated settings.
Performance
Hardcore Damage Meter is designed around an event-driven, bounded runtime rather than broad permanent polling.
Combat-log events are captured directly instead of depending on the meter redraw rate.
UI redraw speed is configurable independently from combat capture.
Combat history is bounded to the last 10 completed encounters.
Meter windows are bounded to 10.
Rank-change feedback uses bounded one-shot timers rather than a permanent animation loop.
Optional roster verification is configurable and disabled by default.
The Designer preview ticker runs only while the Designer is visible and the preview is active.
The addon is designed to keep runtime overhead proportional to the features currently visible and active.
