Description
Hardcore Action Bars
World of Warcraft Classic Era / Hardcore · Interface 11509
A secure, survival-focused, fully customizable action-bar replacement for World of Warcraft Classic Era / Hardcore, with ten core action bars, secure paging, Pet/Stance/Extra/Vehicle bars, native Blizzard utility controls, real keybinds and cooldowns, profiles, presets, a searchable Action Library, and a polished Live Bar Designer with Test Mode.
Secure Hardcore Action Bars
Ten Core Action Bars: Configure Bars 1–10 with up to 12 action buttons per bar while preserving the player's real Blizzard action assignments where the Classic client exposes the corresponding storage.
Secure Bar 1 Paging: Bar 1 supports Classic action pages, bonus bars, possess, vehicle, and override states through Blizzard-compatible secure mechanisms. A paging failure is isolated so the remaining action bars remain usable.
Real Action State: Buttons display the actual mapped spell, item, or macro; current icon; keybind; stack count; cooldown; usability; insufficient-resource state; out-of-range state; and configurable action labels where Blizzard exposes the information.
Action-Use Confirmation: Successfully resolved player actions receive a short gold confirmation highlight on the corresponding HAB button.
No Shadow Binding Database: Hardcore Action Bars uses Blizzard's actual action slots and bindings rather than maintaining a separate assignment system that can drift from the game.
Special Bars
Hardcore Action Bars supports:
Pet Bar — secure pet actions, cooldowns, active state, autocast state, keybinds, and layout control;
Stance Bar — Classic stance/form actions with active state, cooldowns, usability, and bindings;
Extra Action Bar — capability-detected Classic extra-action support;
Vehicle Bar — capability-detected vehicle/override action support.
Protected actions remain driven by player input and respect combat lockdown.
Live Bar Designer
Open Hardcore Action Bars with /hab and configure each action bar through a unified Live Bar Designer.
The Designer combines:
live bar preview;
current mapped slots;
current keybinds;
Action Library;
layout controls;
text controls;
color controls;
exact position controls;
Test Mode access.
Every available slot remains visible in the Designer even when fewer buttons are shown at runtime. Runtime-hidden slots remain available for mapping and configuration instead of disappearing from the editing experience.
Tall vertical bars automatically use a layout optimized for vertical editing so the live preview remains readable.
Action Library
The Action Library is built from the player's current Spellbook and Macros.
Spellbook
current spell names;
rank/subtext where Blizzard exposes it;
spell icons;
search;
rank-aware search matching;
scrollbar and mouse-wheel navigation;
direct action pickup/placement outside combat.
Macros
saved macro names;
Account/Character scope where practical;
searchable macro metadata;
scrollbar navigation;
direct placement outside combat.
Players can drag or pick up actions and place them into the real underlying Blizzard action slot. Selected slots can also be cleared directly outside combat.
Test Mode
Test Mode is the live-screen positioning environment for HAB surfaces.
It includes:
visible previews for enabled and disabled bars;
direct enable/disable controls;
selected-bar gold highlighting;
compact context-sensitive inspector;
exact X/Y values;
Button Size;
Spacing;
Visible Buttons;
Columns;
Rows;
Scale;
Opacity;
Left / Right / Up / Down nudging;
automatic off-screen recovery;
persistent Exit Test Mode control.
Columns and Rows use precise numeric entry rather than sliders. Continuous sizing controls may provide both sliders and exact numeric entry.
The normal Designer and Test Mode use the same persisted configuration values rather than maintaining separate layout states.
Native Blizzard Utility Controls
Hardcore Action Bars replaces the main action-bar presentation while deliberately keeping protected Blizzard utility controls native.
Bag Bar
HAB uses Blizzard's real Classic bag controls:
Backpack;
Bag 1;
Bag 2;
Bag 3;
Bag 4;
Keyring.
HAB can move, scale, space, and style the native Bag Bar without replacing its underlying click behavior.
Micro Menu
HAB uses the real Classic Era / Hardcore Micro Menu controls and preserves Blizzard's own protected actions rather than recreating them in addon-owned proxy buttons.
The Micro Menu remains movable and scalable through Blizzard-compatible native behavior, and HAB must not reposition the Minimap, MinimapCluster, or unrelated addon UI to make the menu fit.
Status Tracking
Hardcore Action Bars includes a Status Tracking replacement with:
AUTO
EXPERIENCE
REPUTATION
HIDDEN
Auto prefers watched reputation when available and otherwise displays experience. When HAB owns the status presentation, Blizzard's replaced XP/reputation visuals remain suppressed.
Profiles & Presets
Hardcore Action Bars supports named profiles for complete presentation and layout configuration.
Profile operations include:
duplicate active profile;
save under a new name;
explicitly activate a saved profile;
live switching outside combat.
Existing user profile data is preserved across updates and is not silently replaced by factory defaults.
Built-in appearance presets include:
Hardcore Default;
Compact;
Minimal.
Presets are appearance-focused and are designed not to unexpectedly move bars or change unrelated enabled states.
Performance
Hardcore Action Bars uses an event-driven, bounded runtime.
Range checking uses one conditional refresh path at approximately 0.18 seconds only while visible actions actually require range evaluation. HAB does not create a permanent repeating updater for every button.
The addon prefers Blizzard events for action changes, pages, cooldowns, usability, bindings, pets, stances, vehicles, spellbook changes, macros, experience, reputation, and combat transitions.
Hidden and inactive controls stop unnecessary continuous work.
Commands
