Group Up ends the fight over quest mobs. One key groups you with the players around you who are on the same quest - and a live board shows every dungeon group being formed, sorted for your level.
Made for WoW: Forever.
Why Group Up?
Thirty boars, a hundred players, and every one of them wants the same kill. In Forever the answer is to group: in a party, kill credit is shared - we measured it counting kills from a partner almost a hundred yards away. But grouping means typing in chat, waiting for whispers, inviting by hand and asking who still needs what. Nobody does it, so everyone keeps fighting over the same mobs.
Group Up turns all of that into one key press.
One key for your quest
Press your Group up key and Group Up does the next thing for you:
- Someone near you is already grouping for your quest? It asks them for an invite and takes it when it comes.
- Nobody is? It posts your quest in /say (or General) as one short line with the quest's link, and for the next five minutes everyone who whispers "inv" is invited - until you are five. Anyone who asks when you are full gets one polite reply.
You see what the key will do before you press it, and nothing ever goes out in public chat unless you press. Asks that could be meant for another player - two hosts on the same hill - wait on your group card for your click instead of pulling someone out of the other group.
Cards above your chat
Small cards appear just above the chat, where you already look - never in the middle of a fight:
- Someone near you is on your quest - with a Join button (the same key joins them)
- The invite you asked for - accepted for you, or held until the fight is over, so a new group never moves you mid-pull
- Your quest is contested here - when other players keep taking your quest's mobs, one tap turns you into the one who groups up
When the quest is done
Group Up first tells you what the group still shares - "you still share Defias Looters with Mira and Tor" - so you carry on together. When nothing is left, you get Stay, Leave + thanks or Leave. Nothing ever leaves a group without your click.
While you quest, one line in party chat tells the group when the quest is complete - sent by one player in the group, never a line per kill. If you want each objective announced too, that is a switch in Settings.
The dungeon board
Forever has no dungeon finder, so groups form in chat and scroll away. The board catches them:
- Every LFM and LFG line from chat, and the groups listed in Blizzard's own group finder, sorted by dungeon and by how well it fits your level
- What each group has of each role, with the game's own role icons and the open seat as a red 0 - the way Blizzard's list shows it. Pick the roles you play and Needs me shows only the groups that need you
- Search, and star a dungeon to hear the moment a group for it needs your role
- Gold sellers, boost ads and guild recruitment are kept off the board - and counted, so you can look for yourself. Lines written in another alphabet stay off it too (a switch in Settings)
- Players looking for a guild get their own section on the Quests tab, apart from the quest groups
- Click a group to open a ready-made whisper ("inv - 20 paladin heal") - nothing is sent until you press Enter. Ctrl-click a player to invite them, Shift-click to see where they are and what level, right-click for more
Forming your own? Post your group from the board with the roles you still need. The replies collect in one list instead of flooding your whispers - sorted by the role you are missing, with a Where? button on each - and once the group forms, a group card shows who is where: how many are at the entrance, whether a warlock can summon and what the ritual still needs, or a Find a summon button when there is no warlock.
Features
- One Group up key for posting, joining and inviting
- Auto-invite for whispered "inv" while you recruit, with a full-group reply
- Join cards for players near you on your quests, and the invite accepted for you
- Contested-quest hint when your quest's mobs keep getting taken
- Shared quests first, then Stay / Leave + thanks / Leave when a quest is done
- Party progress lines when a goal or the quest is done
- Dungeon board from chat and Blizzard's group finder, sorted for your level, with search, roles and watches
- Spam kept out of the way, never hidden without a count
- Your own dungeon post with role steppers, a replies list sorted by the role you miss, and a group card with the entrance count and summons
- Where is that player? Shift-click any row, or press Where? on a reply, and the row says the zone and level
- Lines in other alphabets kept off the board - on by default, one switch to turn off
- Everything you pick is per character: roles, watches, your post and the composer's last choices
- World refresh countdown, so a layer change doesn't catch you mid-pull
- Picks up where it was after a /reload
Getting started
- Type
/gu(or/groupup) to open the window - Pick up a kill quest and press its Post button - in /say, General or /yell, as you pick at the top of the Quests tab - or set your Group up key under Key Bindings > AddOns > Group Up
- Open the Dungeons tab in a city or near a dungeon to see the groups being formed
Notes
- Nothing goes out in public chat unless you press a key or click. No timer ever posts.
- Nothing about other players is kept after you log out - only your own ignore list.
- The game's own frames and icons, so it looks like part of Forever. LibDBIcon for the minimap button, nothing else.
