Docker

Dock, stack, and manage addon windows in customizable panels with tabs, visibility rules, and Ace3 profiles.

# Docker

**Docker** is an Ace3-powered UI window manager for **World of Warcraft**. It lets you create movable panels, attach existing Blizzard or addon windows to them, and dock panels together into tabbed stacks so useful UI windows stay organized without permanently taking over your screen.

Docker uses a single shared codebase across the currently supported WoW client families, including Retail and Classic variants.

## Features

- Create multiple movable and resizable UI panels.
- Attach Blizzard or addon frames using nine-point anchoring, X/Y offsets, and optional panel-size matching.
- Built-in attachment presets for the Battlefield Map, Zygor Guide Viewer, and an undocked Combat Log.
- Attach custom frames by global frame name, with an in-game frame inspector to help identify them.
- Dock panels together into chat-style tab stacks and switch the active panel with a click.
- Customize each tab independently, including width, height, spacing, background, border, font, and selected/unselected colors.
- Configure panel backgrounds, borders, opacity, textures, scale, frame strata, and exact dimensions.
- Show or hide panels based on combat, group status, instance type, resting, mounted state, taxi flight, life state, target, modifier keys, zones, or advanced macro conditions.
- Keep attached children hidden with their panel while preserving the child addon's own open/closed state.
- Visual anchor markers while the layout is unlocked: gold for the panel anchor and blue for the child anchor.
- Mouse-wheel adjustment on Ace3 sliders.
- Minimap button for settings, lock/unlock, and quick access.
- Ace3 profiles with per-character defaults plus copy, reset, and shared-profile support.
- LibSharedMedia support for compatible backgrounds, borders, and fonts.

## Supported WoW Clients

Docker 1.1 supports one shared package across these current client families:

- Retail
- WoW Forever
- Mists of Pandaria Classic
- Titan Reforged
- Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary
- Classic Era

Docker contains a compatibility layer for API differences between modern and Classic clients, so separate addon forks are not required.

## Getting Started

1. Type `/docker` to open the settings.
2. Create or select a panel under **Panels**.
3. Unlock panels and position/resize them.
4. Open **Children** to attach a preset or custom frame.
5. Use **Docking** to combine panels into a tab stack if desired.
6. Lock the layout when finished.

Useful commands include:

- `/docker` — open settings
- `/docker unlock` / `/docker lock` — edit or lock the layout
- `/docker inspect` — identify frame names under the cursor
- `/docker retry` — retry waiting frame detection
- `/docker list` — list configured panels
- `/docker show`, `/docker hide`, `/docker toggle <panel>` — control a panel's manual visibility gate
- `/docker minimap` — show or hide the minimap button
- `/docker version` — show Docker's version and detected WoW client/interface

## Compatibility Notes

Protected frames, or windows containing protected controls, cannot safely be moved or reparented and will be skipped. Attachment/layout operations that are unsafe during combat are deferred until combat ends.

The Blizzard Combat Log must be undocked before Docker can attach it. Some addon windows are created only after you open them once; use **Retry Detection** or `/docker retry` afterward.

Blizzard and third-party frame structures can vary between WoW clients. Docker's built-in presets handle the common layouts, while the custom frame-name option remains available for client- or addon-specific windows.

## Libraries

Ace3 and LibSharedMedia are embedded. No separate library download is required.

## License

Docker is released under the **MIT License**. Bundled libraries retain their own licenses.
