Blackthornes Pets

Pets looks after a hunter's pet so you don't have to keep checking on it. It shows how your pet is doing, finds the food in your bags it will eat, feeds it with one click, and tells you before it gets unhappy. The Pet Compendium lists every beast you can tame, where to find it and what it will teach you.

Built for WoW: Forever, for hunters. Still heavily in development, so expect changes and new features often.

Your pet at a glance

/bpet or the minimap button opens the pets window: the pet that's out, its happiness and the damage that costs, loyalty, experience, training points and what it eats.

Feeding

The window shows the best food in your bags your pet will eat and how much you have left. The Feed button feeds it the lowest-level food that still does full good, so your best food lasts. /bpet food lists everything in your bags and whether your pet will eat it.

While the pet is hungry, a small Feed button sits just above the quest tracker, so you can feed it without opening anything. There's a Feed pet key binding too (Options, Keybindings, AddOns), which feeds the same food whenever you press it.

You get a warning in chat and across the middle of the screen when your pet stops being happy, and another when the food it eats is running low. Each pet gets its own warnings. You can have it wait until the pet is actually unhappy, or turn either warning off.

The Pet Compendium

/bpet compendium, or the button in the pets window, lists every beast a hunter can tame: the 535 from Classic plus the beasts and skills WoW: Forever has added, like the fox family and the new rares. Each row shows the family, level (red when it's above yours), zone and spot, rank, and what taming it teaches, green if you know it and red if you don't.

Hover a row for its diet, other zones, how many spawn and a rare's respawn time. Click a row to pin the beast on your map, or a heading to sort by it. Filter by family, search names, zones and skills, or tick Tameable now, Rares only, Teaches me something new or Seen on Forever. Beasts seen on Forever get a green Forever tag, and Forever's details always win over Classic's.

Taming skills on tooltips

Hover a beast you can tame and its tooltip lists the pet skills taming it would teach: green for a skill you already know, red for one you don't. Open the Beast Training window once so it knows what you've learned.

Beasts that are new to Forever are learned as you go: each time you tame one, the addon writes down what it really teaches and shows it on that beast's tooltip from then on.
