Classic Minecraft and even other modpacks can be very easy. The Darkest Age intends to change that. The first thing the pack does is overhaul survival as a whole giving you new ways to survive and new necessary things you need to survive. The next thing it does is increase the difficulty by adding new mobs and dimensions. At night during the pitch black darkness, it is nearly impossible to see the creatures lurking in the darkness.
