What's new

Project Brain Technology — 0.7.0

⚙️ Major Update — Industrial Progression

0.7.0 is a major progression, content, and maintenance update for Project Brain Technology.

This release focuses on strengthening the industrial progression, integrating Create more deeply into vanilla manufacturing, standardizing the Steel system, updating the lunar event system, and improving client-side performance configuration.

The goal is to make the progression from basic survival to automated factories and eventually heavy industry more coherent and meaningful.

🏭 Recipe & Progression Overhaul

The vanilla crafting system has been partially redesigned around industrial manufacturing.

A number of vanilla recipes now require Create-processed components instead of being crafted directly from raw vanilla materials.

Transportation

  • Bucket

    • Now requires Create Iron Sheets.

  • Minecart

    • Reworked to use processed Iron Sheets.

  • Rail

    • Reworked around Create Iron Sheets.

    • Rail production now follows a more industrial manufacturing approach.

  • Powered Rail

    • Reworked using processed Iron, Copper and Gold components together with Redstone.

  • Detector Rail

    • Reworked using Iron Sheets, a Stone Pressure Plate and Redstone.

  • Activator Rail

    • Reworked using Iron Sheets and Redstone components.

These changes make railway infrastructure depend more heavily on processed industrial materials.

Industrial Equipment

  • Cauldron

    • Reworked using Iron Sheets.

  • Shears

    • Reworked using Iron Sheets.

  • Hopper

    • Reworked around Iron Sheets and a Chest.

These changes reduce reliance on direct vanilla crafting and gradually move the player toward Create-based manufacturing.

⚙️ Industrial Components

Several basic vanilla components have received new manufacturing recipes.

Updated Components

  • Chain

  • Iron Bars

  • Lightning Rod

  • Lantern

  • Soul Lantern

  • Anvil

  • Tripwire Hook

  • Compass

  • Clock

Many of these recipes now use Create Sheets and other processed materials instead of relying entirely on vanilla ingots and nuggets.

The purpose is to make processed metals useful throughout the early and mid-game rather than only being required for advanced machinery.

🔴 Mechanical Redstone

Redstone machinery has been redesigned to better fit the industrial theme of the modpack.

Updated Recipes

  • Observer

  • Dispenser

  • Dropper

  • Repeater

  • Comparator

  • Crafter

Mechanical and processed components such as:

  • Electron Tubes

  • Andesite Alloy

  • Iron Sheets

  • Redstone

  • Quartz

are now integrated into several recipes.

This creates a stronger connection between Redstone automation and mechanical engineering.

The intention is to make advanced Redstone automation feel like part of the player's industrial infrastructure rather than an isolated vanilla crafting branch.

🏗️ Factory Infrastructure

Several vanilla utility machines now require industrial components.

Updated

  • Blast Furnace

  • Stonecutter

  • Grindstone

  • Smithing Table

These changes are intended to make factory infrastructure feel manufactured rather than instantly assembled from a small number of basic vanilla materials.

The result is a stronger progression from basic survival equipment toward dedicated industrial infrastructure.

⚙️ Create Machine Progression

Several Create machines have been integrated into a more deliberate progression system.

Updated Machines

  • Mechanical Press

  • Mechanical Mixer

  • Mechanical Crafter

  • Deployer

  • Millstone

The progression is designed to encourage players to move from manually crafting individual items toward building mechanical production lines.

The intended philosophy is:

Power → Processing → Automation → Production Chains

rather than simply unlocking individual machines independently.

🔩 Steel System

The Steel system has been standardized around TFMG Steel.

Create Big Cannons Steel is no longer intended to function as a separate primary Steel material within the modpack.

The intended Steel system is:

TFMG Steel → Primary Industrial Steel

This reduces duplicate Steel variants and prevents different mods from creating unnecessary parallel material systems.

Steel is now treated as an important progression milestone between Create-based mechanical automation and heavy industrial production.

The purpose of this change is not simply to make Steel more expensive, but to establish a single recognizable industrial Steel material throughout the modpack.

🏭 TFMG Integration

TFMG remains the main bridge between Create's mechanical factories and heavy industry.

The existing TFMG industrial progression has been preserved rather than artificially increasing the amount of grinding required to reach Steel.

TFMG provides the transition from Create's mechanical systems into heavier industrial production.

This progression will form the foundation for future industrial content.

🌙 Enhanced Celestials 2

The previous Enhanced Celestials implementation has been replaced with the Enhanced Celestials 2 ecosystem.

Added / Updated

  • Enhanced Celestials 2 Core

  • Enhanced Celestials 2 Default Lunar Events

  • Enhanced Celestials 2 Shader Support

The previous Enhanced Celestials setup has been removed.

The new system provides the foundation for lunar events and atmospheric gameplay while maintaining compatibility with the modpack's visual direction.

🌕 Lunar Events & Atmosphere

The lunar event system remains an important atmospheric component of Project Brain Technology.

Lunar events provide additional environmental pressure and variation without becoming the primary progression system.

The intention is to make the world feel less static while preserving the industrial-survival focus of the modpack.

The lunar system can also interact with the visual environment when shader support is enabled.

🎨 Shader Support

Shader support remains part of the modpack.

Enhanced Celestials 2 Shader Support has been included to provide compatibility between lunar events and shader-based visual effects.

Shaders are not required.

Players who want maximum visual quality can enable a compatible shaderpack, while players prioritizing performance can continue playing without shaders.

The modpack therefore does not force players into a specific visual configuration.

🚀 Performance Improvements

Several client-side performance settings have been reviewed and optimized during development of 0.7.0.

Adjustments Include

  • Render-related client settings

  • Culling configuration

  • Chunk update behavior

  • Chunk update thread configuration

  • CPU render-ahead configuration

  • Entity rendering considerations

  • Block transparency settings

  • Other client-side rendering options

The objective was to reduce unnecessary rendering overhead while maintaining the visual identity of the modpack.

⚡ Better FPS

A client-side FPS optimization mod has been added to the modpack.

Better FPS is intended to improve rendering performance in Create-heavy environments and provide additional optimization alongside the existing client configuration.

Performance improvements will vary depending on the player's hardware, factory size, entity count, shader configuration and other client-side conditions.

No fixed FPS increase is guaranteed.

🤖 Create Aero & Entity Load

Large automated factories can contain significant numbers of moving entities and Create Aero drones.

These entities can contribute considerably to client rendering load.

As factories become larger, entity count can become a significant performance factor alongside:

  • Create machinery

  • Contraptions

  • Animated blocks

  • Drones

  • Other modded entities

  • Shader rendering

Players building extremely large factories should therefore consider entity density as part of factory optimization.

📊 Performance Testing

Performance testing has been performed in both simple Create environments and larger factory environments.

Simple Create factories can achieve significantly higher FPS than large industrial bases.

Large factories can experience lower FPS because of their increased rendering complexity, entity count and active automation.

Performance therefore depends heavily on the player's hardware and the complexity of their factory.

The goal of 0.7.0 is to improve the baseline configuration rather than guarantee a universal FPS value.

🧩 Mod Compatibility & Version Alignment

The modpack has been updated and reviewed around the following core versions:

  • Minecraft: 1.21.1

  • NeoForge: 21.1.248

  • TFMG: 1.2.2

Dependencies and outdated components were reviewed during the update.

The modpack has also moved away from the previous Enhanced Celestials implementation toward the new Enhanced Celestials 2 ecosystem.

🧹 Recipe Cleanup

The recipe system has been cleaned up to reduce unnecessary duplicate material paths.

In particular, Steel has been consolidated around TFMG Steel.

The modpack does not intentionally maintain multiple competing Steel materials for the same industrial purpose.

This makes JEI easier to understand and gives Steel a clear place within the progression.

💾 Recommended RAM

For a smooth experience, 9 GB of allocated RAM is recommended.

This is particularly relevant for large factories containing many Create machines, automated systems, entities and other industrial machinery.

More allocated RAM does not directly increase FPS.

Players with limited system memory may need to reduce the allocation depending on their total available RAM.

⚠️ Known Considerations

  • Very large Create factories may still cause significant FPS drops.

  • Shaderpacks can substantially increase GPU load.

  • Large numbers of entities, especially automated drones, can increase rendering cost.

  • Create contraptions can increase client-side rendering requirements.

  • Performance depends heavily on hardware and client settings.

  • Players using shaders should expect lower FPS than when playing without shaders.

  • The recommended RAM allocation is 9 GB, but users should adjust it according to their total available RAM.

  • The modpack is still in the 0.x development stage.

  • Progression, balance and industrial content may continue to change before 1.0.0.
