What's new

THE ANOMALIZER AND THE AEON QUILL ARE HERE. AND YES, UPDATE THE PACK AGAIN.

This needs a modpack update. The server will not let the old one in. Update in CurseForge, then log in.

About that. I dropped a pack update four hours ago and told myself I was going to sleep. I did not go to sleep. I built an entire machine instead, and now you all have to click Update twice in one night like it's a Tuesday chore. I'd say sorry, but we both know I'm going to do this again. Second one's free.

Here's what I built.

THE ANOMALIZER

A machine that makes a Pokémon Anomalous.

You feed it one of yours. It seals it in the glass, and the charge runs down the line into the tank. It will not tell you whether it worked until it has finished working. Stand there and watch.

Then it decides.

  • It starts at a 20% chance. Every time it fails you, the next attempt climbs 5%.
  • A failure takes a point off every single IV. That is what you pay for another go.
  • It can destroy the Pokémon. That starts at 5% and climbs 2.5% each failure. Gone. Not fainted, not returned — gone.
  • Because both numbers climb, no Pokémon can sit in that machine forever. It resolves. One way or the other.

Roughly three in four come out the other side Anomalous. Do the math on the fourth one before you put something you love in the glass.

If it holds: your Pokémon comes out Anomalous, and it keeps a name written in the colors of its own two types. If you'd already given it a name, that name is yours and the machine leaves it alone.

What it accepts: anything that isn't already Anomalous. A Volcanic Pokémon is welcome — the two stack.

THE AEON QUILL

Name your Pokémon whatever you want. Colors included.

Right-click one you own, type the name, and you get to see exactly how it will look before you commit. Nothing is spent unless the name actually takes — cancel, log off, change your mind, the Quill is still in your bag.

There's a free one waiting: /promocode aeonquill. One per account, and it dies on September 15. After that you find them the hard way.

THE SERVER HEARS IT NOW

Harvesters, Pastures, Aeon Quills and Anomaly Scrolls announce to everyone, every single time somebody earns one — crate, reward, drop, anywhere. It used to miss depending on how you got it, and if you were in the wrong world nobody saw it at all. That's fixed. Your name, in front of everybody, every time.

Picking one up off the floor or pulling one out of a chest stays quiet, obviously. You have to actually earn it.

Go put something irreplaceable in the glass.
