Oathwrought 0.5 - Echoes Beyond
What's new
UPDATE 0.5

Echoes Beyond expands Oathwrought with two new realms, additional exploration, expanded cooking, new equipment, and extensive compatibility with the pack’s hands-on blacksmithing progression.
New Realms
Deeper and Darker expands the Deep Dark and allows prepared players to journey beyond the reinforced Ancient City portal.
Eternal Starlight introduces an immense new dimension filled with unfamiliar environments, creatures, structures, resources, equipment, and major encounters.
The methods of reaching these realms have deliberately been left for players to discover.
Eternal Starlight’s Delight
Eternal Starlight’s Delight connects the new dimension with Farmer’s Delight through additional crops, ingredients, meals, and cooking opportunities.
Resources gathered beyond the Overworld can now become part of an established kitchen and settlement rather than existing separately from Oathwrought’s survival systems.
Blacksmithing Compatibility
Ordinary Eternal Starlight tools, weapons, armor, and knives can no longer bypass Oathwrought’s blacksmithing progression through simple crafting-table recipes.
Compatible equipment must now be constructed using the appropriate Smithing Anvil. Higher-level Starlight equipment cannot be produced on the Stone Smithing Anvil.
Craftable unique weapons have also been incorporated into Overgeared where appropriate. Exploration rewards, boss drops, creature drops, magical artifacts, and other earned equipment retain their intended acquisition methods.
New blueprint categories support the additional weapon and tool types introduced by Eternal Starlight. Appropriate equipment can receive forging quality and polishing results, while casting routes have been added for suitable metal tool forms.
Realm-Metal Forging
Suitable Eternal Starlight metals and alloys can now be heated in compatible furnaces before forging.
Heating and quenching are required only when appropriate for the material and recipe. Equipment made from materials that do not require heating will no longer incorrectly emerge from the anvil in a heated state.
Existing heated-ingot artwork has been reused where appropriate to keep the new realm-metal workflow visually consistent with Overgeared.
Equipment and Progression Balance
Resonarium tools have been adjusted so upgrading properly forged Diamond equipment provides a worthwhile improvement.
The Resonarium smithing template now correctly identifies Diamond equipment as its required base rather than Iron equipment.
Amaramber equipment has received compatibility and balance adjustments so its material cost more accurately reflects its resulting performance.
Equipment and recipe paths from the new dimensions have been reviewed to prevent expensive upgrades from providing little or no meaningful improvement over their required base items.
Eternal Starlight’s cheaper Alloy Furnace Netherite recipe has been disabled. Netherite must continue through Oathwrought’s established heated-alloy and forging progression.
The Sculk Snapper’s enchanted-book reward limit has been reduced to four.
Enchanting
Enchanting Overhauled’s tome appearance rates have been reduced so valuable tomes remain meaningful exploration rewards.
Epic chests have a 45% tome chance.
Rare chests have a 20% tome chance.
Uncommon chests have an 8% tome chance.
Common chests have a 2% tome chance.
Navigation
Oathwrought’s physical map and compass system has been further refined.
A filled map can now activate the minimap while carried anywhere in the player’s inventory rather than requiring a hotbar slot.
The minimap remains positioned in the upper-right corner so GUI Compass coordinates remain clearly visible.
Maps and compasses continue to provide deliberate navigation benefits in place of unrestricted minimap information. Carrying a filled map provides access to the minimap, while carrying a compass provides coordinates and facing direction.
Automatic deathpoints and unrestricted waypoint conveniences remain disabled.
Player Guidance
The Oathwrought Field Guide and starter empty map have been restored for new players.
The Field Guide now introduces Echoes Beyond, explains the expanded blacksmithing compatibility, describes the purpose of blueprints, molds, casts, heating, quenching, and polishing, and emphasizes the redesigned value of physical maps and compasses.
Fresh players also receive a short update book covering the additions introduced in version 0.5. Future releases can replace this book while complete historical patch notes remain available through the modpack page.
Technical Fixes
Spawn Animations has been restored.
The internal Oathwrought compatibility patch has been updated to version 1.6.1.
A startup crash caused by incorrect Mixin annotation metadata in the inventory-map feature has been corrected.
Both new dimensions have been verified to generate, register, save, and permit travel.
This release is intended for Minecraft 1.21.1 using NeoForge 21.1.248.
Updating
A new world is strongly recommended so the new dimensions, structures, terrain, resources, and progression features can appear as intended.
Existing worlds may still be used, but back up the instance and world before updating. New dimensional content will require traveling into previously unexplored areas.
