What's new

Livestock 0.5.63-alpha

Includes all changes from 0.5.60 through 0.5.63.

Chicken and nest improvements:

  • Fixed hens creating or using nests through fences and other obstacles.
  • Natural nests now require a reachable location.
  • Preserved access to Incubation nests, including nests containing eggs.
  • Removed the solid base from Livestock nests, leaving low straw and twig bedding.
  • Widened the bedding sections by 50% for a fuller appearance.

Performance and code cleanup:

  • Added indexed searches for nests and chicken houses, reducing repeated block scans.
  • Nest searches avoid loading distant chunks.
  • Nest placement and removal update the index directly.
  • Added a shared comfort cache to reduce repeated environmental checks.
  • Reused valid breeding partners while checking whether they remain eligible.
  • Improved chicken-house rendering and reused stored chicken display entities.
  • Skipped sleep-head calculations when Z indicators are disabled.
  • Separated animal systems and debug commands into smaller classes.
  • Removed unused duplicate guide-book source files.
  • Preserved existing animal save-data keys.

Sleep and configuration:

  • Sleeping and Z indicators are now disabled by default for new configurations.
  • When enabled, sleeping is limited to pigs, chickens and eligible tamed wolves.
  • Chickens still seek shelter at night and during rain independently of the sleep setting.
  • /livestock debug now requires operator permissions and debug = true. Debug is disabled by default.

Existing configuration files may retain your previous settings.

This is still an experimental alpha. Please back up your worlds before updating.
