Must Have Carved Blocks

Carve any block into any shape you can imagine — then build with it.

Most building mods hand you a fixed list of shapes to pick from. Must Have Carved Blocks gives you total control. Take almost any block, sit down at the Sculptor's Bench, and carve it bit by bit into exactly the shape you want — a gothic window arch, a curved roof tile, a carved pillar base, a pond edge, a cross, or something nobody has ever built before. Then save your designs into your own collection and take them with you into every future world.

The Sculptor's Bench

Craft a Sculptor's Bench, right-click it, and you get a big 3D block right in the middle of your screen:

• Drag to spin the block around and look at it from any angle
• Scroll to zoom in for fine detail
• Left-click to chip bits away, right-click to put them back
• See exactly what you're about to carve — it lights up before you click, and the chips fly off when you do!

Carving tools

• Chisel — carve away bits in 1×1, 2×2 or 3×3 chunks (keys 1, 2, 3 to switch)
• Put back — add bits back on, also in 1×1, 2×2 or 3×3
• Shave layer — slice off a whole layer in one click
• Mirror — carve one side and the other side copies it, perfect for arches and pillars
• Undo — experiment freely (Ctrl+Z works too)

One-click shape stamps

Start fast with Slope, Stairs, Rounded edge, Arch and Column — stamps stack, so try a Column, then an Arch, then chip in the details.

Rotate your designs

• Turn — spin the design around
• Tip — tip it onto its side
• Flip — turn it upside down

Your own design collection

• Name and save every design you make — it appears in your designs list with a little 3D preview
• Comes with 7 starter designs to get you going
• SAVE your whole collection as a design pack, then LOAD it into any other world, instance or modpack that has the mod installed
• Design packs are simple files in one shared folder on your computer — easy to back up, or to share with friends!

Where your design packs are saved:

• Windows: Documents\Must Have Carved Blocks
• macOS: ~/Must Have Carved Blocks (your home folder)
• Linux: ~/Must Have Carved Blocks (your home folder)

Flatpak launchers that can't reach your home folder use the launcher's own data folder instead — click Folder on the bench to open it.

Any block, any material

• Put a stack of almost any full, solid block into the Input slot — vanilla blocks and blocks from other mods
• The design instantly shows in that block's real texture
• Click CARVE ONE for a single block, or CARVE ALL (or shift-click) to carve the whole stack at once
• One block in, one carved block out — no waste!
• Design once, then carve it in stone bricks, oak, quartz, deepslate… whatever you like

Building with carved blocks

• Carved blocks keep the look, sound and mining speed of the block they were carved from
• They turn to face you when placed, just like stairs
• Place them against the underside of a block (or the top half of a side) and they go in upside down — perfect for eaves and fancy roofs
• Proper collision — walk on your carved steps and ledges exactly as they look
• Waterloggable — place them in water or let water flow in, and they flood just like stairs and slabs, without ever popping off
• Break them and you get the carved block back, and pick-block works too
• Grass, leaves and other tinted blocks keep their colours when carved
