[MR] Mouse Navigation

[MR] Mouse Navigation is a lightweight client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft that brings modern, browser-like mouse navigation directly into the game interfaces! With it, your lower side mouse button (Mouse 4) acts as "Back", the upper side button (Mouse 5) acts as "Forward", and the middle mouse button (scroll wheel click) instantly sends chat messages — all while leaving your normal in-game controls untouched when playing!

This mod was created using AI under human supervision. I do not monetize on CurseForge — just enjoy the game!

What can this mod do?

Browser-like Interface Navigation

• Close & Back (Esc Replacement): Pressing the lower side mouse button (Mouse 4 / Back) instantly closes any open screen, menu, chest, or container. No more reaching for the Esc key!
• Screen History: If you opened nested menus (such as deeper Options pages), the upper side mouse button (Mouse 5 / Forward) lets you navigate forward through your screen history.

Books, Recipe Book & Tabs Navigation

• Books & Lecterns: Flip backward (<) and forward (>) through written and writable book pages using side buttons.
• Vanilla Recipe Book: Easily flip recipe book pages back and forward with your side buttons.
• Creative Inventory: Cycle through creative item category tabs backward and forward without having to aim and click on the tiny tab icons.
• Advancements Screen: Switch between advancement category tabs seamlessly (requires the Better Advancements mod).

Chat Convenience

• Message History: Browse previously sent messages in chat by pressing Mouse 4 (equivalent to Arrow ↑) and Mouse 5 (equivalent to Arrow ↓).
• Instant Message Send: Send your typed chat message with a single click of the Middle Mouse Button (MMB / Scroll Wheel Click) without needing to hit Enter.

Transparent In-Game Behavior

• When all interface menus are closed and you are actively playing, the mod does not intercept any clicks: your mouse buttons perform the exact actions assigned in Minecraft's standard controls settings.

Mod Compatibility

• Mouse Tweaks: The mods do not conflict and complement each other seamlessly — Mouse Tweaks handles item slot operations (LMB, RMB, wheel scrolling), while [MR] Mouse Navigation handles side button navigation (Mouse 4 and Mouse 5) and closing screens.
• Better Advancements: Supports cycling advancement tabs using mouse side buttons.
• Compatible with other standard inventory and GUI mods (Item Scroller, Inventory Profiles Next, Mod Menu, etc.).

Configuration

The mod can be configured in-game via Mod Menu or directly in the configuration file.

Configuration is automatically saved to: config/mrmousenavigation.json.

Configurable options include:

• General toggle: Enable or disable all mod functionality.
• Screen Back / Forward: Toggle closing menus and forward history.
• Books, Recipe Book & Creative Tabs: Toggle navigation per interface type.
• Advancements: Toggle advancement tabs cycling.
• Chat History & Middle Click Send: Toggle chat shortcuts.
• Audio Feedback: Play an optional subtle click sound upon navigating.
• Invert Buttons: Swap Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 functions.

The mod is maintained across all modern versions in separate branches:

• Only the Fabric or NeoForge core; other mods, such as Fabric API, are not needed.
• Mod Menu (If you wish, you can install it on Fabric only — for the purpose of configuring the mod.)

How to install:

1. Download the .jar file matching your Minecraft version.
2. Place it into your .minecraft/mods folder.
3. Launch the game and enjoy!
