Isekubed
Draw a circle. Extend Minecraft. Become a god. File the paperwork.
Isekubed is an all-in-one magic and utility mod built on one three ideas: magic circles, choices matter, anime references.
Enchanting without the lottery, storage and auto-crafting without CPUs or a wiring diagram, AoE spells of death, teleports, vein mining, control time and past all that: battle yourself for infinite storage, minecart-kun to another dimension, and a final boss who is, technically, a civil servant.
STILL IN BETA
I've made an official release in the hopes more people will download and provide feedback. While everything below is in the game, tested, and playable, a LOT of balancing is needed. The late endgame is the newest content, so expect rough edges there. Also, voice-overs are coming, the captions are in, the voices are not.
Bug reports are always welcome.

✦ Rune Circles
- Rotating, anime-style rune circles that you draw on any block face. The circle projects along that face, so a ceiling circle works downward. Combine circles to do interesting things.
- One familiar alphabet, used everywhere. The runes you learn for circles are the same ones you use to enchant gear and to cast spells. Learn a rune once and you can use it on all three.
- Redstone interactions: pause circles to conserve mana.
- Built to work with shaders: tested under Iris.
Your first hour
- Read "Magic for dummies"
- Find a Torii Gate out in the world.
- Right-click it to learn DISCOVER, the first circle.
- Get a magic pen, and some paper.
- Study in a proper workshop (atelier) to learn your first circles.
- Find an Alchemist
- Read "Alchemy for Dummies"
Drawing Circles: Hold down left-shift and draw the glyph in the center grid, release shift. if the glyph is correct it will lock in. when you are finished with a word, draw the "Confirm" glyph (straight across the center row of the grid). All circle except DISCOVER have three parts: category - function - level. So TRANSMUTE 1 is the glyphs u - xchg - 1.
However you will need to learn the word before you can draw the circle. As you become proficient in drawing the glyphs, the mod will let you start typing the letter instead.
Fun Fact: after practicing the "Confirm" glyph enough times, you can use the SPACE BAR instead.
✦ Storage & auto-crafting
Isekubed sits between "powerful but overcomplicated" and "simple but can't craft anything."
- STORE: draw it on a chest and that chest joins your personal network. There are no power cables or channels.
- SPLIT: throw items in. MERGE: pull them back out, on demand or automatically. No pipes.
- CRAFT: if the game can craft it, the circle can craft it. It handles any recipe depth, with nothing to register and no recipe cap. Write a Crafting Scroll once and automate forever.
- SMELT: any furnace recipe at double speed, in bulk. At higher levels it brews potions.
- Fluids and gases go into the same network. Draw STORE on glass and you have a tank.
- Unlimited storage comes later, with millions of items of any type.
- Mana Blocks are invisible, indestructible blocks you can walk through, but hostile mobs, arrows and explosions can't get past them. Stack circles on them to chain automation.
- Bag of Holding Up to 12 rows of storage. Plus Magnet, Salvage, Smelt and Void. Because every mod needs a backpack.
- Enchanted Tome: a book that vacuums up your enchanted books and files your crafting scrolls. Keeps inventory tidy.
- XP Circle: stand on it to bank XP and stand under it to withdraw.
✦ Enchanting and Potions
- Pick your enchantments, don't gamble for them. Every enchantment is chosen, no prayers to the RNG gods.
- Push past the vanilla caps. Most enchantments go all the way to level X, but not XI.
- Better materials hold more. Gold gear carries eight enchantments, netherite ten.
- Keep your favorite potion effects forever. Turn any brewed effect into a permanent one, and switch it on or off whenever you like. For the low low price of mana.
- Loot becomes knowledge. Strip the enchantments off gear you find to learn how to make them yourself, and turn the rest into mana.
- Repair anything with mana.
- New enchantments: Life Steal and Wither.
- New potions: Flight, Climb, Step Assist, Claws, Feast, Mace Skin, Great Leaping and Wither Resistance.
✦ Alchemy
The Philosopher's Stone isn't crafted. You earn it through a 12-step process. Solve riddles assembled from scraps of lost knowledge, and finally be able to cast circles in thin air.
- Salt lines: mobs won't cross them at night.
- Sulfur Vents: turn water into healing hot springs.
- S-Rank Stones A better Stone makes casting cheaper.
- Ore doubling up to 5x and transmutations like iron to gold
- Block chains cobblestone → gravel → sand -- crypto free!
✦ Spells, taught by suspiciously familiar strangers
Ten teachers roam the world, each guarding a legendary signature move. Earn their respect -- by fists or by tribute -- and it's yours:
Meet the likes of: Gokuku · Two Punch · Megamean · Idwin · Slime Tempest · Jelly · Broccoli
And then there's Ramiel. You'll know it when you see it.
Over 20 powerful spells among them:
- Mine: carve tunnels, staircases and shafts, lighting them as it goes.
- Polymorph: turns your enemy into a very jealous chickens.
- Domain Expansion: claims a mob for your farm, for good.
- Blink, Decoy, a damage-absorbing barrier, and plenty more.
But power has a price: your soul. Spend too freely and the world starts to… misbehave.
More of a fighter? Sure, you can climb the whole ladder without swinging a sword. But move over Morgan, get yourself a Zanpakutō and release your Bankai.
Your choices matter Many aspects of progression have multiple paths to success. The way you advanced in levels, the way you learn spells, the way you defeat a boss, all change the cost of your reward.
✦ Travel, farms & the world
- Go anywhere. Build your own network of teleport gates, across dimensions too, plus launch pads and elevators.
- Farms that pay you back. Hold mobs in place, harvest them for items, or turn the harvest into mana.
- Speed up time. Make crops, saplings and even machines tick many times faster.
- Light up caves in one go.
- Copy and paste buildings. Capture any structure and rebuild it wherever you like.
- Defend your base while you're away, with spell turrets that never sleep.
- Automate everything with redstone circles for timers, sensors, latches, links between dimensions and more.
✦ Stands. Yes, those Stands.
- Awaken a Stand that fights at your side with rush attacks, grabs and throws.
- Face Deo, who can stop time for the entire server. Road Roller included, obviously.
✦ The Bosses
- Fight yourself. A perfect mirror of your own gear, spells and strength waits in a dimension of its own. Win Unlimited storage, unlimited POWER.
- Bankai. Forge a Zanpakutō of your own.
- A whole new dimension, reached by minecart. Journey through the elemental realms to a temple at the centre, and meet…
- Seraphelle, Radiant Administrator of the Final Rite. A fully animated final boss with a lot of paperwork to process, and your soul is on the list.
Plus…
- Two endings. Or was it three?
- Two custom songs copyright free, to open and close your anime adventure.
✦ Make your own spell effects
Some Circles and most spells in Isekubed are a fully choreographed light show: spinning rune circles, beams, glyphs, particles, screen flashes and sound, all timed to the tick.
- Looks right everywhere. Floor, wall or ceiling, every effect plays the way it was designed.
- Easy on servers. Almost nothing over the network, and every player's game client draws the show itself.
- Yours to change. Every effect is plain datapack data, so a pack can restyle any spell or create brand-new ones.
The VFX Editor: https://isekubed-vfx.pages.dev
A free editor that runs in your browser. Nothing to install.
- See it as you build it. Play, pause and scrub through your effect in a live preview.
- Learn from the real thing. Open any of the mod's own spell effects and take it apart.
- Add your own sounds.
- Exactly what the game draws. The preview matches the mod frame for frame.
- One-click datapack. Download your creation, ready to drop into any world or modpack.
✦ For pack makers
- Almost everything is data. Glyphs, rituals, transmutations, alchemy, quests, teacher riddles and spell effects are all datapack files, ready to retune.
- A setting for everything that matters, from enchantment slots to soul costs.
- An RF bridge that turns power into mana and back again.
- Works alongside tech mods sharing fluids, gases and power with them.
✦ Thank you (a.k.a. mods I blatantly stole ideas from)
Isekubed stands on the shoulders of giants. If you love an idea in here, chances are one of these brilliant mods had it first:
- Thaumcraft by Azanor: the original magic/alchemy mod
- Equivalent Exchange by x3n0ph0b3, and ProjectE by sinkillerj: turning something into something else with a magic stone.
- Applied Energistics 2 by AlgorithmX2 and the AE2 team, and Refined Storage by raoulvdberge: the joy of a storage network that craft for you.
- Tom's Simple Storage by tom5454 and Sophisticated Storage by P3pp3rF1y: storage that feels simple.
- Psi by Vazkii and Ars Nouveau by baileyholl: magic as a language you learn.
- Mahou Tsukai by Stepcros: spell circles and over-powered swords.
- Waystones by BlayTheNinth: POIs waiting to be found.
- Superior Scrolls by ArcleBreeze for letting me use some of his textures.
And to every anime lovingly parodied here: I'm sorry, and thank you.
