Ghostworks — Dungeons & Travel

A world to explore

  • Four large underground dungeons now generate across the Overworld. Their entrances are recessed into the landscape, with worked stone, lanterns, and descending paths that lead from the surface into distinct, branching chambers. The Forsaken Deep begins beneath the sea.
  • Follow the Roads of the Keepers page in the Ghostworks Guide and ask village elders about old roads and ruins. Each dungeon has its own landscape clues, inhabitants, supplies, and story. New caches offer useful equipment, food, and expedition supplies for the journey ahead.
  • Defeating a dungeon's guardian can reveal a concealed workshop containing working machines,
Fae Lanterns now let you teleport with the right wand. To teleport with the Soul Wand:
  1. Right-click a Fae Lantern with the wand. Give the lantern a name and click ACTIVATE.
  2. Activate a second lantern the same way. Your own private lanterns and other players’ public lanterns appear as destinations.
  3. At the lantern you want to leave from, right-click it with the wand and click a destination in Known Lanterns.
  4. Keep the wand in hand and stay within 8 blocks of the source lantern while it prepares the trip (about 1–5 seconds).
Each trip start costs 10 hunger points (five food icons). Longer trips can give you Soul Strain, which temporarily prevents another trip. To travel while strained, right-click the wand away from a lantern and load its fuel slot with Pixie Dust or Cursed Carbon. Pixie Dust is safe; Cursed Carbon adds Travel Curse.

Four dungeon guardians — and where to find them

Guardian Dungeon Where to search What awaits
Hollowback Queen Hollowback Cavern Look for a mossy, worked-stone entrance in plains, forests, birch woods, dark forests, taiga or savanna. Follow the colony's descending chambers to her den. A living underground colony of gardens, workshops and restless brood. Her Hollowback Crown rewards a player victory.
Gravebound Gravebound Cavern Search forests and taiga, especially dark woods and old-growth pines, for a low, worn masonry arch. Descend through the corrupted byres. A cursed herd, increasingly dangerous lower halls and Gravebound's sword. A player victory awards the Gravebound Chestplate.
Sahret, Jackal of the Ash Vault Ruined Dunes Search deserts and badlands for cut stone partly swallowed by sand, then follow the buried springs down to the ash vault. Oasis chambers give way to a fiery lower vault. A player victory awards Ashwalker Leggings.
Abyssal Custodian The Forsaken Deep Search ocean floors in temperate and warmer waters for a worked, lantern-lit underwater descent. Drowned halls, living coral gardens and a monument court. A player victory awards Tidebound Boots.

Luma and the Living Chronicle

  • Luma has a new fluffy, pearl-white and lilac design with expressive green eyes, a sweeping tail, animated ears, paws and face.
  • She has more ways to spend quiet moments with you: orbiting nearby, landing to stretch or groom, stalking and pouncing, investigating animals, and greeting another player's Luma. Her actions give way when you travel or need her for a quest.
  • The Ghostworks Guide is now a Living Chronicle. Its Current Thread tracks your recent discoveries and next lead, while torn leaves, keeper encounters and five Luma memory chapters gradually restore the story. The Guide itself has a new dark leather and parchment cover marked by a luminous pawprint.

Relics and combat

  • The four guardian relics each have their own powers. Wearing the Crown, Chestplate, Leggings and Boots together displays Four Blessings while preserving each item's individual effects.
  • The Cursed King has new animated tells and timed attacks, including a root slam whose marked impact area can be escaped.
  • Guardian fights have clearer warnings and stronger responses to distant attacks or enclosed player shelters. Sahret's blast marks the ground before it erupts; the Custodian's volley and floor wave now travel through the arena.
  • Cursed Shield and Shield of Divinity have larger held models and clearer blocking poses. Shield of Divinity also blocks normally without Pixie Dust; its dust-powered protection remains a separate ability.

Balance and polish

  • Dungeon approaches blend into surrounding ground more naturally. New dungeons are buried beneath natural cover, and their entrances avoid blocked or flooded approaches where appropriate.
  • Updated guardian sounds, spawn eggs and several creature and armor details. Fixed a range of storage, quarry, world-generation and combat issues.

The First Evil

  • The late-game First Evil encounter has been expanded with a dramatic new phase after its first form falls. Expect a crimson wyrm, aerial attacks, a dangerous landing and a ground fight with clearly signaled strikes.
Existing worlds: Explore new terrain to find newly generated dungeons and their updated entrances. Existing saved dungeon layouts are retained; they are not regenerated around players' changes. Artifact: Ghostworks-2026.09.21_MC_26.3_v6.4.14.jar
