[DAI] Damage Indicators

Floating combat damage numbers for DAI with large readable values, smooth upward movement, and no resource pack required. Designed to stack cleanly with other DAI addons.

DAI Damage Indicators

DAI Damage Indicators is a lightweight combat-feedback addon for the Decisions and Impulses framework.

Whenever you deal damage to a living entity, the amount of damage dealt appears as a large floating number above the target.

The indicator remains visible for roughly 3.5 seconds while gently drifting upward, making damage much easier to read during fast combat without changing Minecraft's actual combat mechanics.

Features

  • Floating outgoing damage numbers
  • Large, readable combat text
  • One-decimal damage precision
  • Approximately 3.5-second display lifetime
  • Gentle upward movement
  • Automatically positions indicators above damaged entities
  • Best-effort victim detection for normal combat
  • Fallback positioning when a target dies immediately
  • Uses Minecraft's default font
  • No custom resource pack required
  • No target-health HUD
  • No range display
  • No survival-interface logic
  • Can be enabled or disabled per player
  • Designed as a standalone DAI addon

Designed To Stack

Damage Indicators handles combat numbers only.

It is intentionally separate from DAI Survival Interface, allowing both addons to be installed together without combining unrelated HUD and combat-feedback systems.

It can also run alongside other DAI addons and full DAI main experiences.

Commands

  • /function dai_damage_indicators:toggle
  • /function dai_damage_indicators:enable
  • /function dai_damage_indicators:disable

Requires Minecraft Java 26.2 and Decisions and Impulses / DAI 1.9.5+.
