Totem Nameplates turns on nameplates for totems in WoW: Forever and puts a spell icon above them.
Forever's nameplate options have no setting for totems alone: the Minions checkbox covers pets, guardians and totems together. Totem Nameplates sets Forever's two totem nameplate settings directly.
What it does
- Enemy totems: turns their nameplates on. They need Enemy Unit Nameplate on.
- Friendly totems: turns their nameplates on. They need Friendly Player Nameplates on.
- Other friendly totems: Same as yours, Smaller or Hide.
- Totem icons: a spell icon above a totem's nameplate, the same icon for every rank and every owner
- Pulse timer: on your own totems, a bar on the icon fills to the next pulse and a number counts down to it
- Each side: Show, Hide, Same as Minions or Leave as set

Settings it changes
On first login Totem Nameplates turns on two Forever settings, nameplateShowEnemyTotems and nameplateShowFriendlyPlayerTotems. Both are account-wide, so they apply to every character, including characters where Totem Nameplates is disabled. A chat line says so the first time each one turns on.
- Kept as chosen: if the Minions checkbox or another addon changes them, Totem Nameplates sets them back and says so once per session. An addon that manages totem nameplates itself has its setting overridden. Set a side to Leave as set to stop that.
- Other nameplate settings: it does not turn on Enemy Unit Nameplate or Friendly Player Nameplates, and tells you when they are off. With Always Show Nameplates off, nameplates show only in combat.
- Smaller: sets
nameplateSimplifiedScale, Forever's size for simplified nameplates, to Smaller size. It also changes every other simplified nameplate. - Nameplates: with Smaller or Hide it sets the size of other friendly totem nameplates, and Hide makes them transparent. Your own totems, and every nameplate with Same as yours, keep the game's size.
- Combat: settings are not changed in combat. A change made in combat applies when combat ends, and the options do not open in combat.
Removing it
Removing Totem Nameplates leaves the two settings as they are, and nameplateSimplifiedScale as Smaller set it. Forever's options have no checkbox for totems alone.
- Before removing it:
/tnp enemy hideand/tnp friendly hide - After removing it, out of combat:
/run C_CVar.SetCVar("nameplateShowEnemyTotems","0")and/run C_CVar.SetCVar("nameplateShowFriendlyPlayerTotems","0") - Put the simplified size back to Forever's default:
/run C_CVar.SetCVar("nameplateSimplifiedScale","0.3")
Limits
- Client: WoW: Forever only (1.60.1, interface 16001). Not made for or tested on Retail, Classic Era, Anniversary or any other client.
- Seen in game: a shaman's own totems in the open world, each with its own spell icon, and the options panel. Other players' totems, friendly or enemy, and battlegrounds, arenas, dungeons and raids are untested.
- Icons: 27 totems from the 1.60.1 spell data get their own spell icon. Any other totem gets one generic totem icon. The icon is not clickable: click the nameplate to target.
- Hidden names: where Forever hides a unit's name from addons, the icon is the generic one or missing, and the generic icon can also appear on a guardian.
- Dungeons and raids: Forever may keep friendly nameplates away from addons there, so expect no icons or size changes on friendly totems.
- Simplified nameplates: your own totems keep the game's size. Forever draws a totem's nameplate as a small health bar with no name when Minions or Friendly NPCs is ticked under Simplify Nameplates. Untick both to see your totems full size.
- Other friendly totems: a totem counts as yours only where Forever lets addons read its owner. Where it does not, the totem keeps the game's size. A friendly NPC's totem counts as another's.
- Hidden totems: a hidden totem's nameplate can still be clicked where it stands.
- Other nameplate addons: built for the default nameplates. Untested with Plater, ElvUI, Threat Plates, Kui Nameplates and BetterBlizzPlates. An addon that replaces the nameplate may leave the icon out of place. BetterBlizzPlates' own totem indicator would add a second icon.
- Pulse timer: your own totems only. Forever gives addons no start time for other players' totems, friendly or enemy, so they get no timer.
- Hidden names and owners: where Forever hides a totem's name or owner from addons, there is no timer.
- Pulse periods: taken from Forever's 1.60.1 spell data and not yet checked in the game. The first pulse is shown one period after the totem goes down.
- No pulse timer: Searing Totem, Elemental Resistance Totem and Elemental Protection Totem, whose pulse is not in the spell data, and totems that do not pulse.
- Healing Stream, Mana Spring and Mana Tide: timed from when the totem goes down. Whether each player's tick follows that time is not yet checked in the game.
- In combat: the timer starts when your client sees the totem go down, which can be a fraction of a second late.
- Call of the Elements: in combat, in a boss fight, or in a battleground or arena, a totem it puts down may have no timer until that ends.
- Reload: a totem put down before a reload in combat, a boss fight, a battleground or an arena gets its timer when that ends.
- Language: English text. Icons are matched by Forever's spell names and have only been seen on an English client. Other languages may get the generic icon.
