Talented: Planner & Analyzer

Plan talent builds in World of Warcraft: Forever with a virtual talent tree, original icons and class backgrounds, account-wide templates, plan validation, and clear analysis of available effect data. Explore your plan without changing your actual talents.

Talented: Planner & Analyzer

Plan your talents. Keep your options open.

Talented: Planner & Analyzer is a talent-planning addon for World of Warcraft: Forever. It brings a virtual talent tree, reusable account-wide templates, plan validation and an explanatory analysis panel together in one window.

Explore a different talent distribution, keep several ideas ready for later and review what the available data can tell you about a plan. Your draft stays separate from the talents your character has actually learned.

Current scope: Virtual planning, template management and data-coverage review are implemented. Numeric gameplay-effect calculations and actual talent application are currently unavailable. The addon has been checked offline and has not yet been tested in the Forever game client.

Main Features

  • A virtual planner based on the active character's observed talent trees.
  • Original talent icons and class backgrounds referenced directly from the game client.
  • Virtual point allocation, point removal and talent-choice selection.
  • Empty drafts or a copy of an unambiguous current talent distribution.
  • Separate displays for planned purchased ranks and client-observed ranks.
  • Rule checks with readable explanations for invalid or unconfirmed changes.
  • Named account-wide templates with Save, Load, Update and Delete actions.
  • A right-hand analysis panel with visible coverage gaps and source details.
  • A read-only transfer review showing differences and unresolved requirements.
  • A movable opening button, window positioning and interface scaling.
  • Blizzard addon options and a copyable Session Log.
  • No required third-party addon libraries.

A Workspace for Your Talent Ideas

Use the left side of the window to explore a talent distribution. Start with Empty Plan to create a draft without purchased points, or use Copy Current when the current distribution can be identified unambiguously.

Planned points remain separate from the character's actual talents. Changing a draft, loading a template or opening a review does not purchase, refund, reset or commit talents.

The planner uses the active character's class and observed talent data. It currently does not provide a class selector for planning another class or a future-level mode.

Unsaved drafts last for the current session. Save a named template if you want to keep a build after reloading the interface or logging out. Replacing an existing draft requires an explicit confirmation.

Original Artwork and Familiar Talent Structure

Talented reads talent positions and visible connections from the client. It preserves the relative arrangement within each tree while scaling the display to keep its own rank labels and controls usable. Larger trees can be scrolled horizontally and vertically.

Talent symbols use the icon supplied by the talent definition or its associated spell. The addon also references original client backgrounds for Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock and Druid.

These graphics already belong to the game client, so separate copies of Blizzard's texture files are not included in the addon archive. Missing artwork is identified in the interface.

The planner has its own presentation and controls. It is not a pixel-perfect copy of every Blizzard talent view, and special node forms, expanded multi-icon layouts and animations are not fully reproduced.

Point Allocation and Talent Choices

  • Left-click: request an additional virtual point in the selected talent.
  • Right-click: request removal of a virtual point.
  • Choice nodes: select an alternative before allocating points when no choice has been made.
  • Shift-left-click or Change Choice: inspect the available alternatives for a choice node.
  • Mouseover: inspect ranks, available information and explanations for a node's current planning status.

Changes are checked against the rules available to the planner. A rejected change keeps the existing draft intact. Removing points does not silently remove a chain of dependent talents.

Planned purchased ranks and ranks observed in the client are labelled separately. Client observations may include additional or pending ranks and are not automatically treated as a confirmed purchased distribution.

When a suitable original talent description is available, the tooltip labels it as a client description at the observed rank or a limited rank-one preview. These texts are not a complete simulation of every virtually planned rank or talent interaction.

Validation You Can Inspect

The Plan validation view explains the status of the current draft, known point spending, available budget information and reasons that prevent a reliable conclusion.

A plan can be valid under the available rules, invalid, or unconfirmed because required information is missing. Unconfirmed does not mean valid, and a visible connection or an editable node does not establish complete rule coverage.

Unknown budgets, costs, granted ranks and dependencies remain visible as unknown. When talent data changes, the addon prevents editing against an outdated observation until the relevant data has been refreshed and reviewed.

Account-Wide Talent Templates

Give a useful draft a name and save it as a template. Templates are shared by characters using the same account's addon saved data.

  • Save: create a named template from the current draft.
  • Load: check a stored template against the current context and confirm replacing the draft.
  • Update: explicitly replace the selected template with the current planning contents.
  • Delete: remove a selected template after confirmation.

Templates retain their class, level, point distribution, selected alternatives and data-reference context. Loading checks the current class, level and available talent rules. A stored build is not automatically accepted simply because it was saved before.

Templates for another class or level cannot be loaded into the current planner. Changed talent data can require review. Deleting a template does not remove the draft already open in the planner.

Templates and settings are stored locally in TalentedDB. They do not automatically synchronize between accounts or computers. Unsaved drafts and analysis results are not stored as permanent templates.

Analysis with Visible Data Coverage

The right-hand Analysis view connects the current draft to the available effect-data inventory. It updates after planning changes and template loads, keeping missing, outdated, conditional and blocked information visible.

Select an analysis entry or open Data / basis to inspect its available source information, conditions and reasons why a result is unavailable.

Numeric gameplay-effect results are currently unavailable. No numeric effect catalog has been approved for the target client build. The current panel therefore provides coverage and explanation, not verified damage, healing, stat totals or recommendations for the best build.

The included reference inventory contains 466 talent records and 1,314 rank descriptions across nine classes from an earlier source build. These descriptions are historical observations. They do not establish current numeric accuracy, simulated tooltips or support for planning other classes.

Missing effects are not silently counted as zero. An incomplete subset of known information is not presented as the total effect of a build.

Transfer Review

Transfer review refreshes the current observation and compares the draft with the character's observed talent distribution. When the required information is available, it lists purchased-rank and active-choice differences and identifies requirements that still need review.

Refund or reset requirements, unknown costs and incomplete validation remain explicit. This report is preparation for a possible future application workflow.

Actual talent application is disabled. The Apply unavailable button cannot execute changes. There is no active automatic purchase, refund, reset or commit function.

Window, Settings and Session Log

Open or close the addon with /talented or its movable T opening button. Use Options for the addon's Blizzard settings and Refresh to request a new observation.

  • Move the main window and opening button to convenient positions.
  • Adjust the window scale from 50% to 125%, subject to screen-fit limits.
  • Lock the opening button's position.
  • Restore window and button positions through Reset Positions.
  • Open Session Log to inspect and copy diagnostic information.

The interface and built-in messages are English. Talent names and descriptions read from the game can follow the client's language.

The Session Log is limited to the current session. Use Select Page and your normal copy shortcut to copy useful pages before reloading or logging out. Logs are not automatically transmitted.

Getting Started

  1. Close the Forever client and extract the complete Talented folder into that client's Interface/AddOns directory.
  2. Check that Talented.toc is directly inside the Talented folder, without an extra enclosing project or version folder.
  3. Start the client, enable the addon and open it with /talented.
  4. Review the available class and talent data, then choose Empty Plan or Copy Current.
  5. Explore virtual points and choices, and inspect Analysis and Plan validation for explanations.
  6. Open Templates and save a named draft before leaving the session.

No separate Lua installation or development tools are required to run the addon. When updating, close the client, keep a backup of your addon and saved settings, and replace the complete addon folder.

Current Scope and Compatibility

Talented targets World of Warcraft: Forever only. The current source reference is 1.60.1, build 70338. Other WoW editions are outside this project's supported scope.

Version 0.2.0 has passed offline checks using synthetic API and interface fixtures. It has not yet been tested in the actual Forever client. Original artwork availability, layout, tooltips, live rule parity, saved-data persistence, combat restrictions and interactions with other addons still require in-game verification.

The present scope does not include another-class or future-level planning, complete special-node rendering, verified numeric effect totals, fully simulated planned-rank tooltips or actual talent application.

Bug Reports and Feedback

Useful reports help distinguish a display problem from missing client data or an unsupported planning rule. Please include:

  • The addon version and actual Forever client version, build and interface number.
  • Your character's class and level.
  • The steps needed to reproduce the issue.
  • The result you expected and what actually happened.
  • The relevant Lua error or Session Log pages.
  • For display issues, a screenshot, your resolution and the selected UI scales.
  • Whether the issue also occurs with only Talented enabled.

Use the feedback channel provided on this project page. Review copied logs and screenshots for private information before sharing; account credentials and complete WTF folders are not needed.
