Description

Raid Frame Opacity is a lightweight World of Warcraft Classic Era addon that allows you to quickly and easily adjust the transparency of the default Blizzard raid frames, their backgrounds, and now the Raid Frame Manager. By fine-tuning these settings, you ensure that raid members’ health bars remain clearly visible while still maintaining good visibility of your surroundings and encounter mechanics.

Version 1.3.0 - New Quality of Life Improvements

What’s New:

  • Close Button & ESC Key Support:
    A traditional close "X" button has been added to the configuration panel. You can now also press ESC to close the panel, making it faster and more intuitive to manage your settings.

  • Enhanced “Keep Groups Together” Handling:
    Further refined the logic so that when you rearrange players or adjust the "Keep Groups Together" setting, the raid frame opacity updates immediately without needing to touch the sliders again.

  • In-Game Tooltips:
    Hover over sliders, buttons, and radio options in the configuration panel to see helpful tooltips explaining what each control does.

  • Minimap Button Position Saving:
    Right-click and drag the minimap button to reposition it anywhere you like. The addon now remembers your chosen position, so you don’t have to re-adjust it each session.

These changes provide a smoother, more user-friendly experience. With easy closing, immediate group opacity updates, built-in tooltips, and remembered minimap placement, Raid Frame Opacity feels more polished than ever.

    Adjust the raid frame and background opacity using a simple configuration panel.

    Make the Raid Frame Manager’s background fully visible (100%), partially transparent (50%), or subtly see-through (20%). No more fiddling with sliders or risking an overly dim manager window—just pick a preset and go.

  • Respects “Keep Groups Together”:
    Whether you prefer individual frames or grouped frames, all raid frames now respond uniformly to your chosen settings. The addon ensures consistent appearance and opacity across the board.

  • Slash Commands:
    Set opacity values directly via chat commands if you prefer text-based configuration.

  • Minimap Button:
    A convenient gem icon on the minimap allows you to open or close the configuration panel with a single click, and now you can reposition it as you like—your chosen spot will be saved.

  • Saved Settings:
    Your chosen opacity settings are saved between sessions, ensuring consistent visuals every time you log in.

  • Quick Reset:
    Easily revert to default settings with a single command or button press.

How the Manager Background Control Works

  1. Open the addon's configuration panel via /rfoconfig.
  2. Scroll down to the Manager Background section.
  3. Choose one of the preset options:
    • 100%: Keeps the manager fully visible, just like the default UI.
    • 50%: Partially transparent, balancing clarity and aesthetics.
    • 20%: Subtly see-through, ideal for a minimalistic look or seeing UI elements beneath.

This independent control ensures the Raid Frame Manager remains easy to access and interact with, even when collapsed or expanded, without affecting the primary raid frames.

Installation

  1. Download the RaidFrameOpacity folder.
  2. Place it in your WoW Classic Era addons directory:
    World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns\
  3. Restart WoW and ensure the addon is enabled at the character selection screen. (open console in game and type /reload if needed)

Usage Instructions

  • Configuration Panel:

    • Type /rfoconfig in the in-game chat to show or hide the panel.
    • Click the gem icon on your minimap to quickly open or close the configuration panel.
      (Right-click + drag the icon to move it; position is saved automatically.)

  • Slash Commands:

    • /rfo [0-100]: Set the raid frame opacity to a percentage (e.g., /rfo 70 for 70%).
    • /rfbg [0-100]: Set the background opacity to a percentage (e.g., /rfbg 30 for 30%).
    • /rfo default or /rfbg default: Reset to default settings.
    • /rfo help or /rfbg help: Show help text for these commands.

Recommended Game Settings

For the best visual experience, enable "Display Power Bars" and "Display Class Colors" under Interface > Raid Frames in the default WoW UI. This creates a vibrant, “stained glass” effect, making it even easier to identify classes and roles at a glance.

Visual Tips

  • The background opacity controls the "black matting" beneath your raid frames. Increasing it highlights the frames, while keeping it low (default 0%) makes the background invisible, letting the game world show through.
  • With the manager background presets, you can keep the Raid Frame Manager window clearly visible or elegantly transparent, ensuring it never becomes too dim to operate comfortably.

Default Settings

  • Raid Frame Opacity: 70%
  • Background Opacity: 0% (fully transparent)

Troubleshooting & Tips

  • If changes aren’t appearing as expected, use /rfo default and /rfbg default to reset values and try again.
  • If you previously altered defaults in the code, remember that saved variables may override them. Use the reset commands or manually clear the saved variables file if needed.
