PetPulse Forever

PetPulse Forever is an updated and extensively reworked version of the original PetPulse addon for WoW Classic, created by nulajedan. https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/petpulse

The original Classic PetPulse is a must-have addon for my hunter and I wanted to continue using it in Forever. The author has indicated he currently has no plans to update PetPulse for Forever, so I set out to create a Forever-compatible version while preserving the compact, useful pet-monitoring experience that made the original PetPulse so appealing.

PetPulse Forever is an independently maintained adaptation for WoW Forever and includes substantial compatibility work, API updates, fixes, and new functionality required for the Forever client.

Features

PetPulse Forever provides Hunters with a compact circular display for keeping track of important pet information at a glance. The module can be resized and moved anywhere on your screen, and also locked/unlocked in its position.

Pet Happiness

The outer Happiness ring provides an immediate visual indication of your pet's current happiness state:

• Green — Happy (125% Damage)
• Yellow — Content (100% Damage)
• Red — Unhappy (75% Damage)

While your pet is actively eating, the Happiness ring temporarily becomes a feeding-progress meter, progressively filling during the Feed Pet effect. Once feeding is complete, the ring returns to displaying the pet's current Happiness state.

WoW Forever currently restricts addons from using the pet's exact numerical Happiness power as a normal addon value. Because of this, PetPulse Forever intentionally displays Blizzard's official Happy, Content, and Unhappy states rather than attempting to estimate a potentially inaccurate Happiness countdown.

If Blizzard changes this API behavior in the future, more detailed Happiness tracking may be revisited.

Pet Experience

PetPulse Forever tracks pet XP and displays its progress through the inner circle module. Pet experience updates as your pet earns XP and correctly responds when the pet levels.

Pet Status

The center of the PetPulse display provides your pet's current level but changes to a death icon if your pet dies. The display updates as your pet is revived.

Detailed Pet Tooltip

Hover over the PetPulse module for additional pet information, including:

• Happiness and its associated damage modifier
• Dependability level and title
• Health
• Armor
• Damage
• Attack Power
• Movement Speed
• Attack Speed
• Pet resistances
• Primary pet attributes when supplied by the WoW Forever API
• Defense and other pet statistics when available from the WoW Forever API

Some pet statistics are not consistently exposed by the current WoW Forever client. PetPulse Forever reports the information Blizzard makes available rather than calculating or estimating unavailable stats.

Dependability

PetPulse Forever supports WoW Forever's pet Dependability system.

The tooltip displays the pet's current Dependability title and level, such as:

Dependability — Submissive 3 / 6

or

Dependability — Dependable 4 / 6

The information is read from the pet data supplied by the game and updates as the pet progresses through the Dependability system.

Combat-Safe Behavior

WoW Forever places additional restrictions on certain unit information during combat.

PetPulse Forever has been updated to respect these restrictions and avoid protected-function and secret-value errors. Information that cannot safely be accessed during combat is displayed as Unavailable during combat rather than attempting unsafe API calls or displaying unreliable cached statistics.

Minimap Button

PetPulse Forever includes a minimap button for convenient access and has been updated to behave correctly with resized or enlarged minimaps.

You can also right-click the PetPulse module to open its options.

Built for WoW Forever

PetPulse Forever required considerably more than simply changing the addon's interface version.

The original addon has been updated and reworked to accommodate changes in Forever's client and APIs, including:

**WoW Forever Beta Notice**

PetPulse Forever has been tested for Forever Beta version 1.60.1.70374.

World of Warcraft: Forever is still under active development, and Blizzard may change APIs or pet mechanics during the beta.

Some Hunter pet information is currently restricted, unavailable, or behaves differently from previous versions of WoW Classic. PetPulse Forever has been designed to use the information currently exposed by the Forever client as safely and accurately as possible.

Future Blizzard updates may require corresponding PetPulse Forever updates.

PetPulse Family

PetPulse Forever is one of three independently maintained adaptations of the original PetPulse:

PetPulse Forever adapts the addon for World of Warcraft: Forever, retaining and expanding support for Classic-style systems such as pet Happiness, feeding progress, pet experience, and Dependability.

PetPulse Modern adapts the same compact monitoring concept for current Retail WoW, focusing instead on Health, Focus, pet status, and the pet information relevant to Modern Hunters.

PetPulse 335 preserves the original addon's Classic-style functionality while introducing compatibility updates, improved pet information, and refined Happiness tracking for Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a.

The three versions are maintained separately because the underlying Hunter pet systems and addon APIs are substantially different.
