OverCat lets you control addon categories in the in-game AddOn List: you can move addons into existing categories, create new categories of your own, or uncategorize all addons for a simple alphabetical addon listing.
To change which category an addon appears under, open the AddOn List from the Game Menu while logged into a character, right click on an addon or category, and use the "Override Category" submenu.
To ignore addon-suggested categories, type /overcat um on in chat. Any categorization you apply using OverCat will remain. You can undo this at at any time by typing /overcat um off in chat.
OverCat only customizes the in-game AddOn List — the one accessible while selecting a character cannot be modified by addons.
You can use OverCat on Modern and Classic Anniversary WoW. Classic Era and Classic Mists do not currently support addon categories (or OverCat).
