Description
Forever Simple Range shows how far away your target is in a small box you can move, and the range to whatever your mouse is over beside the cursor. It reads your own spells and item range checks, so every class gets a reading, and more checks give finer steps. In game it is listed as Forever Range.
The readings
- White, such as 23 yd. A distance the game measured.
- Gold, such as 10-20 yd. A range between two of your spell or item checks. Walk closer and it narrows.
- Unknown or Unavailable. No check fits, or the game hides the value.
Nothing is cast or used, and you need none of the items in your bags. In combat the game refuses item checks on friendly players, so their range comes from your spells alone until the fight ends.
Nameplates and aggro
Nameplate range (off by default). A small readout above enemy or friendly nameplates, each with its own position.
Aggro distance (off by default). The estimated aggro radius in red beside the nameplate range on hostile NPCs not yet in combat, such as "12 yd 22 yd". No game data gives this radius, so it starts from 20 yards at equal level, one yard more or less per level, and learns from mobs that pull you.
Look. Text sizes and outlines, background, border, label, box size and four colours. Range only shows the number alone.
How to use it
- Settings are in Options → AddOns → Forever Range (or
/frange). - The target box starts unlocked: drag it into place, then turn on Lock target box. Locked, it is click-through and hides without a target.
- Target range and Mouseover range turn each box on or off.
Works better with
These addons are optional. Install any of them alongside this one for more:
- Forever Simple Settings:
/frangeopens these options in its big, resizable window, even in combat, instead of the game's small Options window.
Feedback
Bugs and ideas: leave a comment on this page with a screenshot or the steps that cause it, and your class. I play one character, so reports from other classes and situations help most.
