Tired of Trade and General filling up with languages you can't read? Chat Language Filter shows only the language you choose in public channels and hides the rest.

Works on retail (Midnight) and WoW Forever.

Features

• Filters numbered channels (Trade, General, LookingForGroup, Services and so on) and yell
• Never touches say, party, raid, guild or whispers
• Never hides your own messages
• Anything it can't identify is always shown, so short messages, item links and web addresses get through
• Supports English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Russian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese
• Lightweight, with no libraries or dependencies

How it works
It looks at which alphabet a message uses (Cyrillic, Hangul, Kana or Chinese characters). For Latin-alphabet languages it counts common words. Item links, colour codes, raid icons and web addresses are removed before checking, so they don't throw off the result. On retail, chat that the game protects from addons is left alone.

Setup
Open Options > AddOns > Chat Language Filter, or use the slash commands:

• /clf: turn the filter on or off
• /clf german (or /clf de): choose the language to show
• /clf options: open the settings

The filter is on by default and set to English.

Using Chat Links?
This filter comes from Chat Links, which has it built in. If Chat Links is enabled, this addon turns itself off so messages aren't filtered twice. Set the language in Chat Links' options instead.
