Learn a new rank, and your action bars update themselves.

When you train a new rank of a spell, Rank & File finds every action bar slot holding the old rank and swaps in the new one. You no longer have to dig through your spellbook after every trainer visit, and you won’t discover in the middle of a fight that you’ve been casting Rank 3 all night.

Features

• Automatic promotion. When you learn a new rank, slots holding the previous top rank are upgraded right away.
• Combat-safe. If you learn a rank while in combat or while holding something on your cursor, the swap waits until it’s safe and then runs.
• First-run catch-up. The first time you log in with the addon installed, it promotes any outdated ranks already on your bars.
• Works with hidden ranks. If your spellbook only shows the highest rank, Rank & File still recognizes the old ones on your bars.
• Covers every bar. It scans all 180 action slots, including the extra bars and stance or form bars.
• Leaves the rest alone. Macros, items, and anything else that isn’t a plain spell stay as they are.
• Brief chat messages. You get a one-line note like “Frostbolt promoted to Rank 5 (2 slots).” You can turn these off.
• Options panel. You can change every setting from a simple in-game menu.

Options

Type /raf, or open Options › AddOns › Rank & File. The panel has:

• Promote spells automatically: turn automatic upgrades on or off.
• Show chat messages: turn the promotion notes in chat on or off.
• Promote everything now: upgrade every lower rank on your bars right away.
• Print debug info: show in chat what the addon sees on your bars, useful for bug reports.
