Calg's Friendly Nameplate Fix
Turned off friendly-NPC nameplates, only for them to come back every single login? This makes the setting stick.
Since the latest WoW Classic Era patch there's a bug everyone's hit: the "friendly NPC nameplates" option (nameplateShowFriendlyNPCs) is forced back on every time you log in, and won't stay off no matter how many times you untick the box. Calg's Friendly Nameplate Fix quietly remembers what you actually want and re-applies it at login, so the setting behaves the way it always used to.
Why you'll want it
- Your choice sticks. Set it once; it stays that way through every login, reload, and zone change.
- Hidden out of the box. Installs with friendly-NPC nameplates off — the setting most people are trying to keep. Want them on? One command.
- A tiny slash command, no clutter.
/fnf off,/fnf on,/fnf toggle,/fnf status. No window, no minimap button, no options panel. - Combat-safe. Nameplate settings are locked during combat, so it waits and applies the instant combat ends.
- Feather-light. It does its work at login and then gets out of the way.
Commands
/fnf off— hide friendly NPC nameplates (default)/fnf on— show them/fnf toggle— flip between the two/fnf status— show your saved choice and the game's current state/fnf version— show the installed version
Built for WoW Classic Era. It works around a bug in the game itself; if Blizzard ever fixes it, this addon simply becomes harmless and can be removed. Found a bug or have an idea? Leave a comment — feedback is always welcome.
