Calg's Barker
Your advert on repeat, in the channels you choose, at the pace you set.
Write your sales pitch once, tick the channels it should go to, and Barker keeps it running while you get on with something else. Item links included.
Barks
A bark is one advert: what it says, where it goes, and how often.
- One message. When the timer fires it goes to every channel you have ticked, at once.
- Barks are shared by every character on the account. Which bark is active — and whether barking is on at all — belongs to each character. Your enchanter remembers it was using the Enchanter bark; your mage doesn't have to care.
- Shift-click an item while editing to drop its link straight into the message. A live counter shows how much of the 255-character limit you've used, counting the link's real length rather than the short name you can see.
Why it waits for a keypress
The game will not let an addon shout into public chat on its own — a real key or click has to be behind it. So Barker holds the message and sends it the moment you press anything. Moving a single step is enough, and the key still does its normal job.
Two consequences worth knowing:
- Nothing stacks up. Only one message is ever waiting. Stand still through ten intervals and you'll send one message when you next move, not ten.
- The window tells you when one is owed. A waiting message turns the footer amber and reads
Press any key to send, and it can flash your taskbar if the game isn't the window you're looking at.
Guild messages don't need a keypress, so a guild-only bark runs entirely on its own.
Interval, and what it really means
One timer. When it fires, your message goes to every ticked channel at once.
There's a floor of 30 seconds, and a cap of two channels per bark. The server throttles each channel separately, so two channels at 30 seconds is two channels each hearing you every 30 seconds — which is what the server allows. Type a lower interval and it clamps up to the floor rather than refusing you.
Turning it on
/bark on and /bark off work anywhere, and nothing else ever turns barking on unless you ask it
to.
If you want it, Auto toggle in cities in settings makes Barker follow the city you're in:
entering a ticked capital switches barking on, leaving switches it off. It ships off, so a fresh
install never starts advertising on its own. It's a convenience, not a cage: /bark on and
/bark off work anywhere and stand until you next cross a city boundary.
There is one window (/bark), and the whole bark is in it: pick which one is loaded, type the
message, tick the channels, set the interval, press play. Settings live behind the gear, next to the
button they govern.
It comes to you when barking starts, and again when a message is sitting in the slot waiting on a
keypress. It never closes itself — switching off leaves it there saying so — so the X is yours to
press, and /bark opens it again whenever you want it.
Barker ships off, and whether it's on is remembered per character — your bank alt doesn't inherit what your main was doing.
The bark picker has a + New bark… entry at the bottom, and a pencil and X on each row to rename or delete. A fresh install has no picker at all — just "No barks yet." and the button that fixes it.

Please don't be a nuisance
Barker makes it easy to talk a lot, which is exactly why it has a floor built in. Channel etiquette is still yours to keep — advertise where it belongs, and turn it off when you're done.

The panels are drawn in Scada by Jovanny Lemonad, bundled with the addon and used for every
label in it, so the layout looks the same on your machine as it does on mine. Nothing outside the
addon is touched. Licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 — the
