Description

A fresh take on Enhanced Vanilla Minecraft

OdarIs is my attempt to make Minecraft more detailed and natural without turning it into a completely different game.

The blocks should still be easy to recognize, and the world should still feel like Minecraft — just with more texture, depth, and detail.

The pack is available in 7 resolutions, from 32x to 2048x, so you can choose whichever version makes the most sense for your PC.

Alpha 0.1

This is the first public version of OdarIs.

For now, most of the work is focused on blocks and textures that you normally see during the first part of a survival world.

- 89 custom textures covering 57 complete blocks
- 7 resolutions: 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x, 512x, 1024x, and 2048x
- High-resolution interface elements
- Textures created using photos and real-world materials as references
- Seamless terrain textures designed to avoid obvious repetition
- Works with vanilla Minecraft and shaders
- No required mods

OdarIs uses real materials and photographic references, but the goal is not photorealism.

I still want dirt to look like Minecraft dirt, stone to look like Minecraft stone, and trees to remain immediately recognizable. The extra detail is there to improve the original style rather than replace it.

Gallery screenshots were captured with Photon Shaders. Some screenshots also use optional OdarIs add-ons.

Optional Add-ons

The Base Pack works by itself.

The optional add-ons are there for people who want more variation, more detail, or a different look in certain parts of the world.

The number at the beginning of each pack name shows the intended load order. Lower numbers go underneath higher numbers in the resource-pack menu.

You do not need to use every add-on. Just enable the ones you like.

About OdarIs

I started making OdarIs because I wanted a more detailed version of Minecraft without losing the style that made me like the game in the first place.

After Mojang canceled the Super Duper Graphics Pack, the idea of eventually making something of my own stayed with me.

Over the past several months I have been learning how Minecraft resource packs work, making and remaking textures, testing them in different biomes and lighting conditions, and trying to keep the larger versions usable without making the files unnecessarily heavy.

Alpha 0.1 is the first public result of that work.

There is still a lot of Minecraft left to cover, but this release is the starting point.

## Performance and Compatibility

OdarIs is currently made for Minecraft Java Edition.

It does not require OptiFine or any other mod to work.

Shaders are completely optional. You can use the pack with normal vanilla lighting, but it is also designed to work well with shader packs.

Different shaders can change the look quite a lot, so the screenshots may not look exactly the same as your own game depending on the shader and settings you use.

The lower resolutions — especially 32x, 64x, and 128x — should work well on a much wider range of computers.

The larger versions need more VRAM and system memory, especially if you also use shaders, a large render distance, or other high-resolution resource packs.

I spent a lot of time trying to keep the files reasonably optimized. In my own testing, even the 2048x version has been usable without noticeable FPS or memory problems on an older laptop, but every system is different.

Performance will depend on things like:

- GPU and available VRAM
- RAM allocated to Minecraft
- Shader pack
- Render distance
- Other mods and resource packs
- The resolution of OdarIs you choose

If one of the larger versions causes problems, try dropping down one or two resolution levels before changing anything else.

A Bedrock Edition version may happen later, but only if there is enough interest and I have enough time to adapt the pack properly instead of doing a quick conversion.

## Installation

1. Open the Files section.
2. Download OdarIs in the resolution you want.
3. Open Minecraft.
4. Go to Options → Resource Packs.
5. Click Open Pack Folder.
6. Move the downloaded OdarIs `.zip` file into the resource-pack folder.
7. Do not extract the ZIP.
8. Return to Minecraft and enable the pack.

Using Optional Add-ons

Download the add-ons you want and place their `.zip` files in the same resource-pack folder.

Then arrange them above the Base Pack.

For example:

40 — OdarIs Foliage
31 — OdarIs Random Overlay
30 — OdarIs Overlay
20 — OdarIs Random Blocks
10 — OdarIs Base

Higher numbers should be above lower numbers.

Future Updates

Alpha 0.1 only covers a small part of Minecraft.

Future versions will gradually add more blocks, improve textures that are already included, and expand OdarIs into more parts of the game.

I would rather release new textures when I am happy with them than rush to cover everything as quickly as possible.

The main idea of the pack will stay the same:

Make Minecraft more detailed without losing what makes it look and feel like Minecraft.

Support OdarIs

OdarIs will remain free to download.

Patreon supporters get early access to new textures, development previews, and upcoming versions before they are released publicly.

Patreon simply helps me put more time into the project and continue working on new textures.

Public versions will still be available to everyone.

Feedback

Feedback is useful, especially while OdarIs is still in Alpha.

Bug reports, performance results, screenshots, and suggestions are all welcome.

If you run into a problem, please include:

- Your Minecraft version
- The OdarIs resolution you are using
- Your shader pack, if any
- Any other visual mods or resource packs you have enabled

You can contact me through the OdarIs Discord server or Patreon.

Thank you for trying OdarIs.
